Was watching a cartoon with the trope of cooking a bunch of fish on sticks by a campfire and thought it would be cool to learn how to do it properly since that's a good skill to have, your video was exactly what I was looking for, thank you
Anime brought me here too.
@@weirdweaver149 100% second season of naruto forest of death they did this combine with bear grylls survival guy definitely doing this next time I go fishing
@@weirdweaver149 same
Yeah I’ve seen this in anime all the time when it depicts Japan hundreds of years ago.
@@weirdweaver149😂😂😂 same
what could be better than to catch and cook over an open fire, you did good cooking the trout on the stick
catch n cooks are my favorite types of videos
The Man!
Fresh caught Rainbow Trout, cooked over the fire is my absolute favorite food. I enjoyed watching your video. Thanks.
The red pepper packets from pizza places is a good carry for edc. A tea made with a pinch of the red pepper is good for nausea. Two of my edc condiments is red pepper and honey. Garlic and olive oil are a couple of others.
BTW, how is it that there are comments posted 4 days ago when you posted this video less than an hour ago?
Because patreons get early access to videos so they get to watch them first.
Don’t know where you are but that is beautiful clear water.
new mexico, its such a beautiful land
So happy to see you back out doing your thing! I’ve missed your adventures.
Nice! I have a bunch of red pepper flakes in my outback as well. You never know when bland food will strike.
Your one ahead of me. I gone fishing 4 times and zero catch for me. Good to see you out having a blast. Be safe and good luck on your next adventure.
Thanks, you too! good luck on your next fishing trip!
Virtuovice in Japan is worth checking out. He is cooking trout over fire all the time .
He is knife people, hunts and fishes and does knife reviews . Fun and entertaining.
Enjoyed your video good job 👌👍
Great video! Really looking forward to doing these things when I'm older. Building a nice cabin in the woods and catching fish. Man what a dream...
LOOKIN GOOD GUYS ! GOOD TUNES ! James which VID had the Thrunite light in it ? I want to get 1 for my B DAY. I looked thru the Playlists but could not find. THANKS . TAKE CARE..
Happy birthday! uiahve several thrunite vids, you mean my edc one?
@@JunkyardFox THE RED ONE T 20 ? You showed us recently. Thank You. TAKE CARE..
Great little catch and cook bro! You know you can eat the skin. Just run the back end of the blade from tail to head and scale and rinse. Love mine stuffed with chopped red onion and butter. Can't wait to get my Snake eater. It's #12. Atb Sean
yeah i did that but i left that part out during editing, the intro was getting too long.
What did Cuervo think of the trout?
@@arizonabeaver3760 Don't be an asshole, a lot of people care.
he enjoyed it, trout is his favorite woods food. we destroyed thsi poor trout in second after finishing filming lol
Hah, nice catch! I was never able to catch a trout in the Sacramentos, but it looks like a great trip! Love the music dude!
thank you!
I feel like I need to hire a guide next time I am in New Mexico. I never had much luck in the mountains. Knowing where to go in general would be nice.
Man Ive been fishing one time this year so far, I went to Lake Roberts in Silver. Caught a few, enough to share with my parents. Glad you made it up to the mountains.
Sounds great! i need a good fishing trip like that, have a feast
That Trekker vid was what brought me to your channel years ago. Good to see you still living by the Green River. Still too early for trout here in Virginia, but I can't wait!
oh i was using my snake eater knife but it was based on the green river so theres similarities.
@@JunkyardFox Totally fooled me!
@@JunkyardFox This is a good point James. You should mention your brand in each video where you use it. Self promotion = more possible sales. If you watch Survival Lilly, she mentions her APO-1 every time she pulls it out. Great vid dude!
Tin foil, little piece of butter in the belly salt pepper wrap it up after you season I use salt, pep, onion, powder, garlic powder. but S and P work just fine alone. After your wrap it up and seal it put it on the coles make sure after about 5 to 6 minutes on each side check it and then add more mins if needed accordingly. You can put and it on a grill rack about 4 to 6 inches above the coles if it's real real hot so you don't burn the fish. It's takes some practice. Also I cut the head off if when I Tin foil cook trout, it eliminates the super fishy taste. Enjoy and let me know!!
Curious what did you use to catch the fish? Looks like maybe a lead weight up a bit from a hook - worm? I recently fished with my kid, first with a weight and hook, but after a snag, switched to a hook about 9" down from a bobber, with a mosquito fish for bait (caught a bluegill, and got lots of bites - fed them lots of mosquito fish). We catch the mosquito fish with a 9"x6" aquarium net - it is often more entertaining for my kid that fishing with the rod.
Where can i get a hat like yours??
sadly this hat is no longer made
nice catch, good video. no bashing from this Gringo. stay safe 👍🏼
Thanks, will do! new video coming monday
And where can i get the jacket

I needed this kind of video. Thank you man.
Glad you liked it! hope it brought you enjoyment and peace
Awesome! Keep these Catch n’ Cook videos coming. Plenty of us whom enjoy these.
Love your channel.
Nice! im glad you enjoyed it, be sure to check out this video on cooking bluegill ua-cam.com/video/cOCCUvj-p6E/v-deo.html
Awesome video. I love trout. I pulled the trigger on a green river knife glad I did. So cold here in western New York can’t wait to go backpacking and camping in the Adirondacks mountains. I’ll be trying out that new knife. Also I’m thinking about the tracker as well.
great blades, theyre awesome
Where is that place what county?
cloudcroft , New Mexico
Ya did everything right except Tabasco sauce lol. Ps put a first aid kit in your pack and a compass Great channel.
I have no experience but wouldn't it be easier just to bury fish in embers for 5 minutes
Rainbow trout is excellent. Great vid
So good
So there I was down in your neck of the woods, and where were you, up in my neck of the woods.
Forked stick keeps the fish from spinning around
Nice catch!
Love fresh rainbow trout!! (ur missing the green chili)
Quervo's music... he is sooooo talented!
as always, thank you for joining us.
Very nice! Interesting way to cook for sure; I love caught fish but always hate dealing with those tiny bones lol. Love my trekker for sawing those little branches, would have never gotten one if I hadn't found your channel years ago.✊🏽 Just got back from an overnight trip, made some steaks and roasted squash, zucchini, and onions over the coals; got my boots dirty! First overnight in 2021, and it had been too long. Another great video man!
the bones arent too hard to deal with when the fish is fully coooked, the meat just slides right off them. oh that sounds delicious, ill be doing that next week.
May God bless you. PS I love your knife, over nights and plant knowledge vid‘s. Not to mention the music. Keep doing what you do junkyard.
we appreciate the love and support
great vid. this is my kind of content :)
My daughter and I watched your videos for the first time. Dude, that was slick, how did you get the fish to repair its mangled body and get bigger between shots like that?
What are you talking about?
Dam he fucked that fish up hahaha good catch
Like your videos, good presentation.A guy must be ok ,that wears a hat ,a cowboy hat and drinks coors original! From an old used up cowboy.Take care.
Thanks for watching!
Gotta teach you how to clean a trout bro!!!
In reality sir you'll starve if u get lost in wilderness u Haven't clue about outdoorsmanship
good, I can afford to lose a few pounds
You did a good job....keep practicing and learning
And the main thing is to have fun!!!
That isn't a rainbow trout
Haven't had rainbow trout in years☹️
....Hears to Fortune's change 🍻
And to not casting pearls before swine!!!!!!
I love that stuff too brother 🤠🤠🤠
Ok now lm jealous
I've been cooking trout au fire for at least twelve years. My trick is to wait for the fish to give up its water, i.e. to start dripping. If you've been turning it appropriately, it will be perfectly done.
I was like #700
Top class
You look like you native, so I know you… What.. corn👍
Huh?
NICE
Old school rules.
The best tagine I ever made in the northwest, fish is a white meat not red meat, chicken is red meat not white meat
I have no idea why but cooking a fish on a stick just seems fascinating and delicious to me
Got my seven chuckles in when he said amateur hour . You did pretty good on that trout for a green horn .
I like your video because you took the time to shoot the camera and cook the catch 😀
That's my favourite thing to do brother hear in Southern Utah
This is an amazing video thanks you for posting :)
awesome! congrats on finally getting one on video!
Hey brother your one of my favorite you tubers i'd love to see more of your content more often

thank you, my friend!
Great content my friend. Have you ever picked up fly fishing? Best hobby ever.
Not yet! im still trying to get competent with the regualr fishing first lol
Are u from Mexico?
No
Use a forked or branched stick, James. Glad you caught one and had fun. Too bad you didn't get a deer to give your knife design a thorough test.
im still going back to hunt deer and pig later this year
Made me hungry.
dont get no fresher!
Grt video. Thx
Glad you liked it!
Very cool gentleman 🤠
Nice coat mr fox 🦊

I've done this with seatrout, always need at least salt & pepper tho, thx for the vid
i always carry a few spices in my kit, really helps
Great vid, as always! Thanks for the content! Keep em coming!
Thanks! Will do!
Nice fish.
Fun video. I have several spots around New Mexico where you can catch several fish non stop. I'm from Albuquerque👍
thats awesome! fishing is so cool, wish i was better at it lol
@@JunkyardFox I was told at a young age that you have to be smarter than the fish? Lol. It's really all about the bait, try a fly rod in those small streams👍 it's all about good times.
When you said quail hunting I heard whale hunting and it short circuited my brain for a minute lol. Yeah sorry about our NM winds brother, I’ve been trying to get out and shoot my slingshot for a week with no luck at 60+ mph wind gusts.
lol ill hunt a whale soon, gonna eat some mukluk
@@JunkyardFox Haha! Wonder if mukluk tastes anything like loafer? If so, you should pass! 😆
Wow!
thank you, hoped you enjoyed it

Why not use pine?
some say the sticky pine tar can make the food taste bitter or nasty but i used a stick that was dry from that .
@Junkyard Fox I believe the sap and tar smoke from pine if being directly cooked over, also has some toxicity and can cause people to get sick sometimes if too much comes in contact with the food. I'm pretty sure dry sticks like this are no problem though, especially if not coming in direct contact with the flames.
Jemez springs?
Ruidoso
Love Ruidoso and the cloudcroft area. Do a lot of turkey hunting there
Another kick ass video sir!!
glad you enjoyed it bro!
as always, nice video james.
Glad you enjoyed it
.
i couldnt agree more
This video is awesome! How do you make the cut that pulls the guts and head off with one pull?..anybody who knows what that cut is called I would really appreciate knowing cause it's hard to find good fish gutting videos
Y’all should drop the junkyard from the name. Y’all never at one
theres not much trout at a junkyard
@@JunkyardFox facts 👌🏼
Nice job guys. When it was done the fish looked scary lol.
