UTEP just needs to win. Their Goldmine Collective just raised $10 million in a few months. The last good ride for UTEP FB was 04-07 where they averaged 47K over 4 years.
They have a lot of investments they need to make into their athletic department in order to be a solid contributor to this conference. It appears that they are on the way to doing precisely that.
I've driven from Phoenix to El Paso and I agree they fit more of that geographical area of metro areas in ASU, UofA, UNM and NMSU rather than those of Houston, UTSA, etc. They are truly a "southwest" school.
Interesting times to come with the lawsuits between the PAC 12 & the Mt. West. According to Steve the first one to land a TV deal with payouts exceeding $8+ million will dominate for a few years. It's funny to see the PAC 12's current football roster. Win a prize if you can see a theme. Oregon STATE, Washington STATE, San Diego STATE, Fresno STATE, Boise STATE, Utah STATE & Colorado STATE.
@sweetbeanstv UC Davis will not be a football participant so their draw from any media contract(s) will be diminished. I should have clarified where I got that number, so I've edited my original post.
An often used phrase about the Sun Bowl, "Nestled in the Foothills of the Rockies" is a fairytale The Franklin Mountains (in El Paso) are NOT part of the Rockies which end near Santa Fe N.M. Thanks to the Women's Department of the E.P. Chamber of Commerce and the E.P. Department of Parks we have a plaque at upper Tom Mays Park with an obelisk and plaque that states, "...this marks the southern tip of the Franklin Range of the Rocky Mountains..." I assume no one working on that project took a geography class at UTEP.
What a clown 😂 the rocky mountains end in northern new mexico. He can't even be honest about that, what other bs was he just spouting to try to make el paso look sexy 😆 texans dont even claim el paso, ask someone from dallas what they think of el paso.
Then why is more high school talent leaving those areas to go to UTEP? They recruit and put out more NFL guys than any other G6 in Texas. El Paso will also be 71 degrees today with no wind and zero humidity. That alone beats the shit East Texas weather.
It is not totally his fault there is a monument at the end of the Franklin's that says "the edge of the rockies" Trans Pecos (west Texas) is not the same Texas as the I 35 $#it hole

Good job guys you're doing great work.
Excited to see what UTEP can do in the new MW.
Even Paydirt Pete got a shoutout.
Always

Welcome to UTEP
I get nothing but good feelings about UTEP joining the MWC. I believe the Miners could be their own way to a good era of football.
I like him. haha Welcome UTEP!

As an NIU fan I’m happy to see UTEP in the conference! I’d also like to see Joe Frazier on the big mountain!
Whos down to watch Glory Road tonight?🤙🏾
UTEP needs better home attendance for football. 22,000 minimum per game
When they have to play on Wednesday nights with a 1-7 record in CUSA, 10,000 is more realistic.
There still the highest attendance in cusa highschool like stadiums

What do you mean "first one" 💀😭💀😭💀😭💀😭💀😭💀😭💀😭💀😭. I'll bet any amount of money the Mt. West now consistent of NIU, UC Davis, and UTEP don't sniff $8m

I don't really care.
It was a good interview.
