That was amazing. He actually gave the characters depth, and gave realistic scenarios. It even gave reason to his catchphrase. Instead of randomly saying "go to sleep" for no apparent reason, this story turned it into a cruel humor, throwing the mother's words back in her phase. I'll admit, I do somewhat miss the iconic look of Jeff the Killer, the wide eyes engulfed in shadow and the carved Cheshire grin, but I also know there was no way to get that iconic look and still make it realistic. Bleach, vodka and fire would not make skin leathery and white, and his hair would not be basically dyed black. This story was close enough to somewhat follow the original story while also adding in some much needed details and character development, as well as changing events into scenarios that could actually occur in reality. I have thought about trying to rewrite the Jeff the Killer story before, but this is so much better than anything I could have done. The narrating was awesome to, with perfect changes in voice to reflect different characters and moods. I find it a little ironic that his voice for Jeff at the end reminded me of Gaara from Naruto. heheh. anyway, sorry for the uber-long comment, and fantastic work as always, Chilling Tales crew.
I haven't touched Creepypasta in over five years, this interested me purely because it was a rewrite. I wasn't expecting much. Imagine my surprise when I found out this was far more engaging than *anything* the original put forth. There's actual effort being made to make Jeff more of an intelligent predator instead of some cringy borderline superhuman mass murderer. I noticed they left out Jeff burning off his eyelids (Which was noted by hundreds of readers that his sight would be useless without the ability to blink.) And instead made him blind in one eye. They don't force the reader to fear Jeff because he's pushing past human limitations. They emphasize on his building violent nature and make that the center on why he should be feared. And this is most evident during the garage fight. The entire scene where Jeff is looking over the three kids, literally evaluating and gauging each one like a predator analyzing the weaknesses of their prey. That fight was a satisfying show of his intelligence and ferocity. In the overall story, they focus less on Jeff snapping out of nowhere. They build up his advancing lust for vengeance, hatred, and power through the constant frustrations and helplessness of his situation. This rewrite is 100x better than the original. And honestly deserves more praise in that regard.
I liked this Jeff the Killer story. I think it was better than the first. The character's backgrounds were descriptive, allowing you to understand them. The events that occurred in the story, were actually believable. Another thing, Jeff and Lou's parents were absolutely awful. They were neglectful, to Jeff and Lou, and they never put them or their well being first. They were more worried and concerned about impressing and fitting in with, their peers. They never supported, listened to or cared about their children's side of the story, or events. Seriously, what kind of parents do that?! These so called parents, had a life plan and an image to create and maintain. If they believed that Jeff or Lou did any thing to possibly damage that image, they were berated or sent away. These parents completely ignored their explanations for their actions, sided with everyone else, and always claimed that Jeff or Lou or both were always at fault. No wonder Jeff snapped and killed his parents.
An actually solid Jeff the Killer story was not something I expected to hear today, but I am incredibly impressed. I loved how they gave Jeff a Dexter-esque "Dark Passenger" sorta thing. Wish they kept the glasgow smile, though.
This version is SO much better than the original. I hate the more popular version of Jeff The Killer, but this actually kept me entertained all the way through. And that narration, amazing! Great job as usual, Chilling Tales!

I don't think you can make this story actually scary, but I am sure that is not the point. The chill factor behind this intriguing and satisfying reboot is giving Jeff a personality with some sort of soul. He was not just a maniac who was killing people to just kill them; he actually gave his killings purpose. He is a human that fell into love with sensation of rage and hatred, which I believe adds to this chill factor. Which can have a real and truthful effect on individuals. I personally believe that Jeff the Killer was such a popularity because he was just a killer with some sort of demonic background that caged his raged; upon coming out unleashed hell. That did actually scare some people. Although, the previous Jeff the Killer had poor writing and story, or lack there of, it just did not justify the intentions. This story was very intriguing and I am going to be honest, I was very skeptical to sit here for almost two hours and listen to this story. I am very glad that I did, this is how I believe the story should have been told. This is how Jeff and his story should have been portrayed, to have the moment of dread and the realization that this can happen to almost anyone. Especially people that give in to such behaviors with themselves.
I would love to see this story with a full on production now, however. This was great, but I don't think Simply Scary gave it the proper justice. Would love to hear a CTFDN version!
That was absolutely amazing!! I love, love, love Jeff the Killer and that was a great version, not to mention an incredible narration!! Now everyone, “go to sleep”!!
I actually like this a lot. It creates a greater experience and back story for Jeff- I feel like he gets a lot of hate... When actually his story is very sad; this helps give you a better insight into his character and what actually happened to him.
+The Fearmoths That is true, lol. The original piece is very comedic due to its poor plot and writing. This, though, makes it how it's supposed to be- a teenage boy, neglected by his parents and feeling insanity set in piece by piece (if you listen to the story carefully, you can very much feel his character grow insane) and scarred by a flare gun and have his parents not want him out in public, so he kills them both and runs. I also like how they left Lui alive... Jeff may be a killer, but he wouldn't murder his brother who he loved most.
Hannah Riccobono I'm with you Jeff's story really is more sad because there's nothing scary about it the only thing that's scary is Jeff getting beat within an inch of his life by Randy Keith and Troy right in front of everyone at that kid's birthday party, and how Jeff almost gives up but manages to save his own life after all getting beat within an inch of your life is actually scary.
Hannah Riccobono Yeah it's his parents' fault for not listening to him Poor Jeff he doesn't deserve a lot of hate, Jeff haters fail to realize Jeff's story is more sad than scary in his story he's neglected by his parents and Liu his big brother is always there for him when he needs him most.
This version actually creeps me out. The original did nothing but this version actually gave me goosebumps. I guess its because I know what it is liked to be bullied. I am just fortunate that I have a family that actually cares
Liu: to your mothers house, we just got a few dollars from doing chores and she doesn't charge much! Me: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
+GoobiePie Tart haha me too OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Steve Gray, awesome job. Your Jeffrey voice was extremely intimidating and I really got into the story. Thank you the story and oh yeah, reminding to let my children know how much I love them....
MONSTER743 Yeah Poor Jeff he's treated like an outcast and he's shunned and hated by Creepypasta Jeff Haters he's like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, he's hated and shunned by Creepypasta Jeff Haters. And he doesn't deserve so much hate he deserves love his parents tried to shoot him and they showed no sympathy for him when he was crying over Liu being sent to JDC Some Parents they are, also his parents Margaret and Peter Woods care more about their social status than their own sons Poor Jeff it's no wonder he snapped and what makes this more sad is that this happens in real life too. Parents treat their kids more like tools and objects instead of the humans that they really are, because Parents care more about their social status than their own kids, see I'm saying? the world hates us uses us bullies us and makes us suffer and treats us like insane freaks ourselves we live in a World So Cold and we're not so different from the Creepypasta Characters themselves we all want the world to pay for our pain because it hates us for who we are :'(
@@katelynthewhitewerewolf6376 I'd tell you, but I've typed that comment awhile ago that I can't even seem to remember the reason anymore of why I said that.😥 But I do at least know that it wasn't because Liu did something bad to him.
Finally found this again! I like this story way more because it shows the sadness of how his parents cared more about themselves then them and always being put down in a situation for others selfish needs. This causing him to find his sadistic calling and feeling how good it felt to take his rage out on people and hereing how his OWN mother wanted to home school him and hide him from the world because she would be embarrassed by them.. finally snapping the last chain of restraint and making them go psycho. But for the old one had no character build up. He just got bullied and killed them and gone psycho.
I can't even imagine as a mother having a son that almost died being worried about his looks. But as my son was in the hospital, I heard some horrible isht from some parents. Parents that didn't really care about their kids. It made me sick
One person tells a story about a boy who became a monster, another tells the same story but from a different side. We thought Jeff went crazy from being hurt by Randy and the bullies and his parents were caring and innocent, but this story tells how his parents pushed and broke him to that point. There's always more to a story than what is said and heard.
I am extremely fond of Jeff The Killer, god only knows why, but the original pasta is just soooo fucking bad. This one had some pretty corny lines thrown in there, and the syrup analogy got obnoxious fast, however the amount of SENSE and PLAUSIBILITY this rewrite brought to the story was borderline orgasmic. Any flaws were overshadowed by that. The narration was very good as well, I especially loved Jeff's voice very fitting but also believable. The delivery of his lines was spot-on. You guys have made me a very happy camper.
@@Jedi-wq4gy in the original, he ends up having a little accident involving sulfuric acid while he was attempting to use it to clear up the drains in the bathtub of their home (this takes place when Jeff and Liu are in their mid-twenties, they were living together in Jersey. Their plumbing sucked.). He slipped on a bar of soap and the acid spilled onto his face and neck, took him months to recover. He ended up getting reconstruction surgery, but the doctor was neglectful and Jeff ended up looking messed up, and the incident also pretty much ruined his pigmentation. He cuts his face up after having a mental breakdown from seeing his face after he gets back home (he has several mental breakdowns, mood swings, and personality changes throughout the story. I think the guy had borderline personality disorder or something.). Jeff ended up developing a strong resentment for society, and most of humanity, for it's shallow and arrogant ways, and his explosive rage turns spawns violent impulses. That's when the killing starts. He first kills a couple in their home that he found guilty of "corruption" of some sort, and temporarily cripples their teenage son with a baseball bat(the boy becomes a self-disiplined bounty hunter and tracks Jeff down years later, only for Jeff to gun him down.). Afterwards, he goes into hiding for a decade, Liu helping him hide and even forging a death certificate for Jeff. This goes on for a decade.

I am sold on this reboot. So much detail and a great origin story. CTFDN always rescues me from slow and boring workdays 👍❤
This story makes the perfect setting for the rise of Liu the Homicidal. In this spinoff, Jeff's brother Liu survives Jeff's attack and goes on to become a violent vigilante against criminals and is bent on revenge against Jeff. I really like how this reboot lays the groundwork for Liu. This is true, look it up.
This is so sad. It's the whole "nature vs nurture" issue. I'm sure if Jeff's parents had been a bit more loving towards their son this wouldn't have happened. After all it took years of Jeff having to fend for himself and his brother for this rage to build up in him. If at any point along the way someone had given him some positive feedback or attention all that rage would have dissipated. It's sad really that some parents do all they can for their kids yet they turn out bad anyway. Then there are those parents who truly abuse and neglect their kids only to have them turn out to be the best humans on earth. So is it all Jeff's fault. No, he fell into the pit of despair and hate and acted on it. It broke my heart to hear Jeff tell the story and even more the despair in knowing he would never be really human again. I pray those who hear this tale take heed and not compound the situation or rumors that humans love to delve into. Where is the love and compassion were supposed to have for each other? Please know that s little kindness goes a long way and can make someone's day a lot brighter. Remember you never know when you'll be entertaining angels. God bless you all. Peace Jeff.
Let me just say, WOW. That was one of the best improvements of a story I have ever read. It took this Joker from wish and gave him a new spin. It adds context and makes dumb things into things that make more sense. The “weird feeling” from the original changed into the syrup of a twisted morality is really leveled up here, Jeff’s parents that were just kinda there have been leveled up into being pompous fucks I was actually cheering for Jeff to kill them off in the end. The bullies changed from being cliché as hell to being kinda more fleshed out. How they aren’t cartoonish bullies but real pieces of shit. I’m also happy of how Jeff and Liu’s relationship differs here, they have a lot more close moments together and Jeff doesn’t even kill off Liu here (Something I really didn’t like in the original) even if he kinda did play a part in setting the whole thing off. And another thing. This story doesn’t really romance the aspect of insanity as all other stories do. Jeff still sounds collected and calm but has his moments. It’s so genuine and scary, and I could just go on. Just overall, amazing rewrite. 10/10
I never got the chance to actually read the original story some people say that the original story was bad and all, but holy shit this was such an improvement story and very interesting.
This is the best version of this story by far. It makes Jeff seem somewhat human. We can understand why he snapped rather than just the "he's just crazy," which is such a stupid cliche at this point. The original had a good concept, but was executed poorly. This takes that same concept, and executes it extremely well.
This is exactly the kind of content I'm looking for. I like to listen to something interesting while I unwind from work. Sadly, the constant adds take me right out of my Zen. I understand that content creators need to make a living, but this is a bit much. Too bad for me.
It's a good story in it's own right, but not a good remake. It doesn't feel like a Jeff the killer story. Frankly, I think this type of story would've worked better as an origin story for Jane the killer.
Wow! How this was explained .. wow.. you can not help but feel for the child that turned evil.. parents not listening, fake and just climbing social ladder…i I feel so bad for the boys!!
Yep, this version is much better. The other one just goes from zero to a hundred in three seconds; Randy and his pals showing up at a birthday party with guns is way over the top. In this version I love Jeff's relationship with Lui, and I like that Randy and his pals are just over-privileged teenaged dicks instead of murderous psychopaths. There's also a motive for Jeff sticking his parents in this version. Good story, good narration.
Dyingbreakingfalling Me too Parents care more about their social status than their own kids. and they treat their kids more like tools and objects instead of the humans that they really are :'(
So, this isn't that scary. but this, this is amazing. I love this so much more than the original. The parents are actually to blame and they make me angry. And you can see that Jeff had problems from the beginning instead of all of a sudden changing like the original. Like K. Banning-Kellum thank you for giving me hope on creepy pastas again.

Really awesome. Narration was terrific. I was gripped all the way through, and Jeff's actions were justified. Iwas completely on his side. Although I wish we could have had some resolution with the bullies...that would have been delicious.
Now that's a story! (spoiler below) Logically though, he didn't have to kill the journalist either way... in fact, he only lost time doing that, he could have escaped much sooner. In the night and in unfamiliar surroundings, the guy would not be able to point them to Jeff either way.
It blows my mind how jeff the original story gets a million views and it barely makes sense and this story is amazing and has gives us understanding about Jeff and his parents this story is way better

So glad the brother didn't die in this one.
His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
There's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti
He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready
To drop bombs, but he keeps on forgettin'
What he wrote down, the whole crowd goes so loud
He opens his mouth, but the words won't come out
He's chokin', how, everybody's jokin' now
The clocks run out times up over blouw snap back to reality op there goes gravity op there goes rabbit he choked hes so mad but he won't give up that easy nope he won't have it he knows its back to these ropes it don't matter hes dope he knows that but he's broke hes so sad then he goes back to this mobile home that's when its back to the lab again yo this old rhapsody better go capture this moment and hope it don't....
What the fuck
@@smegmithgoatthechessecurl8287 It's the lyrics to Lose Yourself by Eminem.
I don't know why the fuck they're doing it but hey it's harmless.
Would love to hear a CTFDN version!
soo hes gone from the joker from the dark knight to two face of the dark knight
he sooo sounded like batman lol
it's scary how close to home this hits in the beginning
Amazing rewrite. And Steve Gray's voice is amazing.
You're welcome!!!
Am I the only one who thinks that this version of Jeff has a huge craving for syrup?
He should come to Canada
Who freaking doesn't?
I do... And it feels out of character for Jeff.
I think jeff character in this story is a lot more sane compared to the other stories
I listened to this whole thing and I loved it all
That was absolutely amazing!! I love, love, love Jeff the Killer and that was a great version, not to mention an incredible narration!! Now everyone, “go to sleep”!!
No I’m an insomniac I can’t sleep ha
This is a great rewrite of Jeff's story. I like the original but this really upgrades Jeff the killer as a character. Good work.
All the aspects of this production; the new writing, the narration, were EXCELLENT!!
+The Fearmoths how?
Hannah Riccobono Yeah Jeff haters fail to realize that his story is more sad than scary.
Lmao!
XD CRAP
+GoobiePie Tart haha me too OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I heard this I just screamed out savage in class😂
GET NOSCOPED!!!!! YAAAAASSSS SAVAGE
Steve Gray, awesome job. Your Jeffrey voice was extremely intimidating and I really got into the story. Thank you the story and oh yeah, reminding to let my children know how much I love them....
spoiler alert:
I like how he didnt kill liu~
I know right?!😁
His parents SO had that coming
Parents treat their kids more like tools and objects instead of the humans that they really are, because Parents care more about their social status than their own kids, see I'm saying? the world hates us uses us bullies us and makes us suffer and treats us like insane freaks ourselves we live in a World So Cold and we're not so different from the Creepypasta Characters themselves we all want the world to pay for our pain because it hates us for who we are :'(
MONSTER743 Yeah Margaret and Peter Woods definitely got what was coming to them for how they treated Jeff
@@katelynbodiford5680 And Liu.
@@punkfluff3395
What did Liu do to him?
Lucas Clement To me it was both.
Lucas Clement Poor Jeff and Liu :(
I am extremely fond of Jeff The Killer, god only knows why, but the original pasta is just soooo fucking bad.
If you're referring to the story where he got set on fire, that's not the original story.
@@lovellhorrors1586 I've only known the one where he got set on fire kills his parents and Liu what is the original then? I'm curious.
@@lovellhorrors1586 I actually want to read/listen to that if it still exists
@@Jedi-wq4gy good luck finding it. I recommend looking on Wikipedia. Just type in "Creepypasta: Jeff Hodek wiki".
Fuck, this actually took Jeff the Killer and made a decent story out of it that makes me want to see more.
You say that like this is the only good Jeff story.
When Lui Made that mom Joke I Yelled GOTEM!
I think I prefer this version of Jeff the Killer. It makes sense, it happens in a logical order, I like it.
I recently moved to Mandeville because my dad got a business license for Louisiana 💃🕺✨️
That's why I'm using this to fall asleep in my new Mandeville home
I am sold on this reboot. So much detail and a great origin story. CTFDN always rescues me from slow and boring workdays 👍❤
Well done. Kept me fully invested and wanting more the whole way through.
this re-write is amazing but one thing I never got is what happened to Liu I mean ik he didn't die, but where did he go what happened to him?
He lived to tell about it.
+Steve Gray yass so me lol
cut a smile in his face and killed everyone lol XD
This story makes the perfect setting for the rise of Liu the Homicidal. In this spinoff, Jeff's brother Liu survives Jeff's attack and goes on to become a violent vigilante against criminals and is bent on revenge against Jeff. I really like how this reboot lays the groundwork for Liu. This is true, look it up.
same i wanna know too.
Great story! Loved the narration too! Keep up the great work!
OMG...I love this, well done to you all. been a fan for a while now 👍
This is the best version of this story by far. It makes Jeff seem somewhat human. We can understand why he snapped rather than just the "he's just crazy," which is such a stupid cliche at this point. The original had a good concept, but was executed poorly. This takes that same concept, and executes it extremely well.
I loved how Jeff really cared for his brother Liu/Lui (IDEK 0o0)
This is exactly the kind of content I'm looking for. I like to listen to something interesting while I unwind from work. Sadly, the constant adds take me right out of my Zen. I understand that content creators need to make a living, but this is a bit much. Too bad for me.
He`s gone from the Joker to Two-Face
LOL
This seems legit now and not just some emo cringe fest.
+Jared Thompson Yes, the rewrite is very well done. Thanks for listening!
unbelievable well done that was excellent
This is by far the best version out of the three like if you agree
I think it's pretty okay too!
It's a good story in it's own right, but not a good remake. It doesn't feel like a Jeff the killer story. Frankly, I think this type of story would've worked better as an origin story for Jane the killer.
1:47:04 THERE IT IS!!!! THERE IT IS!!!!!!!! HE SAID IT!!!!!!!! YAYYYYYYYYY
This is the best Jeff the killer story hands down
Watch the Morgue Files and say that.
Please watch Jeffrey Mason Story and you are gonna change your mind :))
Props to the author of this reboot. His technique is damned excellent.
Wow!
How this was explained .. wow.. you can not help but feel for the child that turned evil.. parents not listening, fake and just climbing social ladder…i I feel so bad for the boys!!
Man that was awesome! this could be made into a movie , its that good ! Very cool
***SPOILER***
I was really hoping to hear what happened to the bullies. Great story though. Great narration too. Awesome!
:D Mr Banning-Kellum, you have really made the most of the potential of the original story! Well done Steve Gray yet again, great narration!
I like Jeff's old design But this story is AMAZING!
Is it bad that these parents sound like mine 😑
+abby road I pity you......
Dyingbreakingfalling Me too Parents care more about their social status than their own kids. and they treat their kids more like tools and objects instead of the humans that they really are :'(
Fray Redwood mine to and yes
So, this isn't that scary. but this, this is amazing. I love this so much more than the original. The parents are actually to blame and they make me angry. And you can see that Jeff had problems from the beginning instead of all of a sudden changing like the original. Like K. Banning-Kellum thank you for giving me hope on creepy pastas again.
+Harlee Rae Thanks for listening!
They need to make this a movie. Although they really shouldn't have changed Jeff's look.
I think that the signature Glasgow smile should be avoided. We should try something far more twisted.
I like his new look because it can actually be a bit scary in certain ways and it's uncanny
38:48 GOOD FOR YOUUUUU XDD Bros will understand this :3
Why does this remind me of Leafy..

This was SO much better than the original. It's actually a good story now.
Really awesome. Narration was terrific. I was gripped all the way through, and Jeff's actions were justified. Iwas completely on his side. Although I wish we could have had some resolution with the bullies...that would have been delicious.
This is the type of story deserving of a character as popular as Jeff the Killer. Engaged, I was! Thumbs WAY up for you!!!
great story it was like a movie in my head
This story was amazing!!!!!! I loved it please make more with Jeff please!!!!!!
Now that's a story!
(spoiler below)
Logically though, he didn't have to kill the journalist either way... in fact, he only lost time doing that, he could have escaped much sooner. In the night and in unfamiliar surroundings, the guy would not be able to point them to Jeff either way.

holy fuck, this sure does deserve an award!! This is so much better than the original, but still playing par to things and causes from the original!
Flare gun>bleach... this version is ten times better I honestly love this
Simply amazing!
I love this version more,

It blows my mind how jeff the original story gets a million views and it barely makes sense and this story is amazing and has gives us understanding about Jeff and his parents this story is way better
I'm glad he dosn't kill his bro

This was awesome, loved every second of it
