thanks much easier to understand than the instructions that it came with . To find the codes I opened the old garage door opener and you can see the little box with 9 switches set to +, 0 or - just use those .

NOPE! Download the user manual for the door opener! The opener can only hold one code! All transmitters (remotes) must have same code. The code is 9 place code made up of the three symbols on the remote (the +,O, - buttons). Create a random code (+ O - + x x x x x). Program that into all your remotes. Clear the memory at wall panel. Then pair a transmitter (remote) to the opener. All your remotes with your code should work.

What if I need to program a non-sequential code, like 4283?

Great question! Did you ever find out?

I don't believe this has that ability. This has 9 slots. Each slot has only two options.
      Slot #1 is + or -
      Slot #2 is + or -
going in order to slot #9

My transmitter on my Allstar 6000 opener has 10 dip switches. Is this transmitter compatible with a 10 digit?

BUT HOW DO YOU FIND THE CODE TO PUT IN???
It doesn't say anything about that in the instructions that came with, and this didn't say how to get the code... I have a number from the actual opener, and thought that had to be put into the remote - but that number has 9 digits and there seems no way to put thatin the remote!

The code for older door openers is on dip switches on the back of the opener itself.

@@RoyKaBob Thank you for the explanation. The directions are so vague. I appreciate it.

That made absolutely zero sense. How do I find the code to enter?
