- This is live music at its best. From the Jam perform "Strange Town", another song which originally made the charts by The Jam. It reached No. 15 on the UK Top 40 when it was released in 1979. The Jam's original version later appeared on a re-release of their album "Setting Sons" in 2001 and also features on their 1983 Greatest Hits album "Snap!"
This performance comes from the "From the Jam - A 1st Class Return" concert Live at the Forum in December 2007. From the Jam kick off at full speed, each one complimenting the other and the material as fresh as when it was at the top of the UK Charts! They turned a chilly night in North London into a rhythm inferno, and in doing so, rewrite modern world anthems for the 21st century!

Rick Buckler - Drums.
Russell Hastings - Lead Vocals, Guitar and Acoustic Guitar.

Lead vocals are incredible
Saw them last weekend in Southampton. A1 gig. Bruce is still one of the best bassists ever
Everyone thinks that the music of their era was the best, maybe the kids from the sixties would argue with me but I know I had the best with the Jam, Two Tone, The Specials, Madness, proper Reggae and the list goes on.
No wonder depression is so common in the youngsters today. What they need is some angry young men with electric guitars to listen too.
That's a great vocal there, close your eyes and that's Paul. Great crowd too!
Foxton is like a man who ended up in a wheel chair and a Doctor came along and gave him the power to walk again.

I have always loved this song since being stationed in Germany in the Army in '86. I have noticed a change in tempo between the chorus and verse in this version. I prefer the none-tempo change of the original so you can really dig the groove. I am a bass player and I also very much admire Bruce Foxton's chops and singing ability. It's not easy to do what he does.
Just love the middle 8 in this; melodically and lyrically perfect. My fav Jam song.

I seen the jam in 19 80 and from the jam nearly 2 years ago and Bruce foxton has hardly aged a day and his playing and singing is as great as ever well worth seeing live

It's uncanny how the performance sounds 100% ripped from the actual record, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
