Hauling the FishLocker Lobster Pots - When everything goes to plan! Lobster & Crab | The Fish Locker
Вставка

- What will we catch in our Lobster pots? We love working a small number of lobster pots from our small family boat. Such a wonderful and rewarding experience that often brings delicious rewards. Hauling our lobster traps by hand makes it all the more rewarding when you catch something to eat. Join me to check our pots and talk you through the things we catch. Teaching about the marine world and how to care for it - Including conservation regulations that are in place in Cornwall UK. This session hauling the lobster pots really was as perfect as it gets. Wonderful weather and a fantastic haul of lobster and crabs including many pregnant females - showing very healthy stocks for the future.

You should get a lobster/crayfish tank and get a pet one
I work for Washington State Fish and Wildlife and see people breaking rules to take and not give back.. Love to see this kind of responsible fisherman!!
Sadly there are people all over the world who take and take with no regard. Hopefully our example will encourage more to do as we do. 😊🦞👍🏻
Just out of curiosity, what do you think about hobby fishermen trying to thin out invasive species by specifically targeting them and releasing everything else? I'm a mainly fresh water fisherman and I've been doing that together with some of my friends for the past couple of years, it's perfectly legal in my area but some people say we actually do more harm by not letting the ecosystem adjust naturally to a new balance. What's your take on this?
@@Dr_V in my state we have bounties on invasive species.. If im not mistaken we pay several dollars per fish on the Columbia river
@@Dr_V depends on the invasive species. Some have no natural predators. So the ecosystem will not find that “new balance”
He understands that they need to multiply ,grow up and replenish
Still amazed by the care and respect you show to your catches. No hemming and hawing about size, no hesitation to preserve the species at the expense of taking something home for the pot. You're the definition of the ethical fisherman.
Any true and proper hunter, forager or fisherman understands every aspect of the environment he operates in and understands how his actions effect it. Without wanting to sound like Thanos, everything in balance. 😊👍🏻🦞
@@TheFishLocker I agree & that is another reason why your vlogs/videos are so interesting to watch.just watched your last lobster fishing trip for 2022 let’s all hope 2023 sessions are just as good 👍🏻 if not better keep the good work up fella.
Thank you John for explaining responsible fish husbandry, and for being so gentle with the next generation of lobsters. I learn something new every time I watch your videos.
It is my pleasure to share our videos with you. 😊👍🏻🦞
Who else had a big smile on their face as they watched that big fella go back to the deep? What a fantastic specimen and superb to see the care taken with him.
He was a special one wasnt he. 😊🦞
@@TheFishLocker definitely a special one.
John thank you so much for your videos. My 8 yr old son with autism has been falling asleep to them for over a year. He loved seeing this lobster.
I have had several people contact me to say something very similar. I am very glad we are able to bring some peace and wholesome content for you both. 😊💙
Hiya John. So it's Sunday night. Me belly's full. Liverpool just beat Spurs. And I can watch you haul the pots. Perfick! Thanks as always John.....
Win win win!! 🦞😊
John totally incredible !! the preggy female was a stunner but that monster ,when you put a legal size keeper besides him just showed what a amazing man he is ,awesome , oh have a good break mate .
He was a freakin giant wasnt he!!!
I appreciate your conservation consciousness! Thank you friend!
It is our pleasure. 😊🦞
I watch these and remember 7 decades ago, when my father took me fishing, hunting, tracking, and autumn leaf collecting with him. I adored my father and I miss him and my mother so much.
Sounds like some wonderful memories. 😊
@@TheFishLocker They are. Thank you.
@@TheFishLocker when I were a lad during the war…….😌😉
I remember coastal foraging and fishing 4 decades ago. My dad caught lobsters with a net and we kids caught flounders and crabs. I didn't live by the shore again and my dad died but I still watch and remember. Thanks for letting us join.
Lobsters were a cheap meal when my Mum was young and her uncle went fishing in Wales. She got the shock of her life when she went to buy one in a large town in England.
Thanks John, great to see the old boy lobster still going strong in his watery domain😀
It makes me happy to think he is still crawling around somewhere. 😊🦞
You are a great sport john and a good example to others , Its great to see you doing the right things and sticking to the Cornish rules in your area...... just hope that others are doing the same mate, Have a nice break where ever you are going. cheers Ian
Cheers Ian, nowhere nice mate. Just work.
@@TheFishLocker- Any luck on the recovery of your missing lobster pot yet? It seems to be getting late in the season for the local dive club to be very active now unless they will be using dry suits soon. Stay safe and healthy.
I am speechless about that lobster. Wow! and double Wow! I sure bet he would have cooked up very nicely. Great video. Cheers.
When they grow to that size their meat can be very tough because of their old age.
Ahh lovely that you mentioned your uncle Dave, lovely lovely bloke, sailed with him many times with some lifelong stories! Cracking lump of Lobster that John!
A fantastic bloke. Do anything for anyone. Shame how life dealt him his hand but he was a gent. 💙
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your time and effort put forth making these incredible videos. The educational value is on par with the entertainment value. A very difficult balance to maintain. Thank you again.
Thank you for the comment and the feedback Sean. I just try to stick to the guidelines I set out when we started. Simple, honest and original content sharing what we know and love doing. 😊🦞👍🏻
Wonderful video today. Thank you for the entertainment and education.
It is my pleasure 😊🦞👍🏻
John, You are absolutely amazing. I love your honesty and integrity. Returning the large lobsters back to the ocean to continue breeding. Good stuff.
Simply doing what I feel is right. I hope more people will adopt our approach after learning the benefits from the videos. 😊🦞
Superb specimen lobster, John! Thank you for sharing.
I'm in two minds regarding his fate. Whilst it would have been excellent for him to have gone to Padstow, to be put to stud, I also think it would have been a little sad removing him from the wild. I'm just glad it wasn't a decision I had to make.
Move down to Cornwall was interesting, John. The A30, at night, in a fully laden Luton van, during the high winds and heavy, HEAVY rain of storm Claudia, sure made for an interesting 260-mile drive. Closest I have ever come to pulling over for fear of death! Here now though and living the Cornish dream!!!
Haha. I know exactly what you mean. I was driving a high side one time and I swear it went on 2 wheels at one point!! 🤣
@@TheFishLocker Quite the “clenching” experience, for sure!
The shots at the start as you were heading out to sea were awesome. Don’t know why but I am literally on the edge of my seat everytime a pot comes up. Today was treated to a beast 💪🏻🦞
Mornings like that are just tonic for your soul. They truly are the moments that make the day worth while.
What a beautiful place you live in. And, I LOVE how you say Fish locker at the beginning!! 👍
😊
Stunning lobster and yet another great video. I prefer watching your films rather than the tv, you are more informative and interesting. Thank you.😊
We don’t watch terrestrial TV any more. Haven’t done for a good while.
I always respect and love the way you uphold the ethics, not just by talking, but through actions and right demonstrations of responsible fishing, John. You take no discounts or cut corners, and I believe that is why you always be blessed with abundance.
Simple and honest with a positive mindset. 🦞👍🏻
Brilliant video as always. What a blummin’ donkey that was !! A lot of people may have taken him for the table- massive respect to you for releasing him to obviously make more lobsters ! He ain’t grown that big and lived so long to not have that respect 👍
That’s how I feel Ben. He’s lived too long and survived too much to die at my hands.
JUST DYNAMIC AS USUAL!! WHAT A SUPER CHANNEL,,, LOVE IT 😍 BE SAFE AND STAY HEALTHY!!
Thank you. Best wishes and take care mate.
Total Respect to you for what you did with The Monster
In my mind it was the only thing to do. Big fella had lived far too long to end his life at my hands.
Absolutely
John I have never seen you that excited! It’s why we fish , bravo!
That’s it Bill. That thrill and excitement is what keeps us coming back. Have you seen this video? ua-cam.com/video/m7ME14AvsWI/v-deo.html
@@TheFishLocker yes I have , great! I looked up the record lobster last evening…. 44 lbs off the coast of Maine. Put back to breed of course.
What a cracking lobster.
I was pleased you V notched him and returned him to the sea.
Thank you. 👍🏻🦞
Again, your reactions on the old lobsters you catch… admirable!
Haha. No hiding that excitement!!
I really like that you are so passionate about lobsters. And making sure the good breeders are saved. he was a beautiful specimen and would have made an awesome attraction at the lobster hatchery maybe one day you'll catch him again and they'll have room.
We are passionate about all marine life. One day this world will belong to our children, and I want there to be something worth handing over to them. 😊🦞👍🏻
@@TheFishLocker amen Sir amen.
You sir are a great stewart to the sea . And the way you educate James is amazing 👏 great job !!
I agree with what DR said below. You are such an ethical and honest man. I am sure that what you show to us, you carry throughout your life. I am encouraged to know that there are still those in the world like you. You have a beautiful family. I hope that your entire life is blessed.
This world will soon belong to my children and their generation. I for one hope for there to be something worth handing over to them. 🦞💙
I love how you educate us all!❤

Evolution at its best...what a beast!
You know nature got it bang on when 350 million years of "IF IT AIN'T BROKE DONT FIX IT"... still rings true.....
Same with sharks and crocs. 👍🏻
That was perfect my friend. We thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you!
Thank you very much and have a nice evening. 🦞
Thank you for the conservation lesson John.

How amazing to see such an old boy- long live King of Lobsters.
He has lived far too long to meet his end at my hands. 😊🦞
@@TheFishLocker I really enjoy your care and integrity with your fishing John. Thank you.
Wonderful video! The shot you took of the pregnant female, over the side of the boat, was amazing I could really see all the eggs and their colour. That enormous male was a sight to behold.
They are wonderful creatures aren’t they. 😊🦞💙
Love the respect and knowledge for what you catch
Simply doing what we feel is right Paul. 👍🏻🦞
What an amazing creature, I am delighted to know he continues to swim the seas of Cornwall. Great video

Hi john hope all iis well with you and the family so good to see the red pots have not been touched
Aye mate. 🦞👍🏻
I love it when you put back the old timers or the big boys...Good job again....
Thanks Rick. 👍🏻
Stunning specimen bud. You don't see them that size very often. The old man is where he belongs. Almost glad the hatchery didn't have room, even though they do fantastic and needed work. Cracking haul John, well done. All the best to you and family.
Aye mate. He’s where he belongs. 👍🏻🦞
It's so wonderful to see somebody so sensible and saving such a beautiful old lobster and having the sense to see that he's a real breeding lobster that's lasted for many years thank you and great to see you put him back and to look after the future stocks amazing
I am simply doing what I feel is right Paul. We as fishermen are guardians of the ocean.
@@TheFishLocker you're absolutely right I just wish there was many more fisherman like you out there I live in deal Kent near Dover and Folkestone too many times I see these giant lobsters being sold in our local fish mongers or seafood stores it's very upsetting to see that people just don't care they put the money before anything and it was wonderful to see you and the way you are with your sub stainable Fishing even if it is the law sometimes unfortunately some people don't care many thanks

brilliant to see a respectful angler with the respect you gave that absolute beast . Top man.. If only every angler showed that much respect
We are simply doing what we feel is right, I hope by seeing how we do things other people will adopt the same principles. 😊🦞
Great to see the respect for that bohemoth of a lobster. So many people would've took it home to the trophy cabinet or thrown half of it away because they couldn't eat it all.
Eventually I will have another crack at sea fishing, your videos are a great resource for any newbie!
Thank you Leslie, and good luck with your next fishing trip.🤞🏻🎣🐟
Re-watching this video. It is 1/24/24. Love you guys and love your videos. Thank you again so much for sharing your adventures with us.❤️

O my days that lobster was huge, I personally think by staying alive for all those years it’s like a right of passage. 👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Absolutely. He’s lived far too long to die at my hands.
You always pull it out the bag mate, nice lobsters for the table,a lovely female V notched and put back and then the king of lobsters V notched and sent back where he belongs (to make more lobsters) ❤ nicely done John🫶🏻🫶🏻
With any luck we will see the interest paid from that investment in the years to come. 😊🦞💙
Nice to see you out again . Great stuff . Many thanks .
