Hmong fan here. If the marriage is between two Hmongs, it will almost likely end in divorce because religion is really prominent in the culture. I've had my own parents separate (or atleast one of the big reasons why) because of it and have seen many Hmong marriages fail because of it. Your either opposing your spouse's beliefs /way of life OR your up against her or his family. Heck, some families even disown each other if there is a religion difference. There is a reason why every Hmong parent(s) will always ask if their kids lover is a Shaman (the Hmong religion) or Christian. If the answer is not the same religion, the discouragement begins immediately because there WILL BE conflict at the Hmong "Wedding" and marriage. If the marriage does happen, then it almost likely that the Wife now has to follow her Husbands religion. Very rare do you see the opposite happening. However I wanna say that it CAN work but both will forever be nagged by their own families, if you can stomach that pressure, and be okay with your Spouses beliefs. The many Hmong couples that I have seen persevere through does not force their kids (or their spouse for that matter) into either religion and is more than happy to support their kids in whatever religion their kids want to get into when they can decide for themselves. Hope this helps the guy who asked the prompt!

I'm Chinese-Vietnamese Muslim from Montreal Canada. Islam, Christianity and Judaism all come from the same Abrhamic roots. Jesus is seen as one of the most important figures/prophet in Islam. He was born from virgin Mary, and ONLY prayed to God. Jesus spoke Aramaic, a Semetic language, calling God "Allah/Ellah". Even though he is Jewish (the earliest form of Islam). Jesus was chosen by God to tell the children of Israel to get back on track and worship God properly. Jesus did not complete his message and job to the entire universe yet, will return before the day of judgement to rid of all evil and destroy the anti-christ and imposters.

It will never work happily if both parties are truely devout to their faiths. If they're both lukewarm and are always flexible to the point where they're aren't really even people of faith. Usually they continue to be part of the communities due to obligations or just for familiarity, then that's different and a lot of people are like that. Both sides of the family will want to run their house hold one way or the other and that just won't work especially when you bring kids into the picture.

Hmong conflict of religion is a pretty difficult and common occurrence, it can be especially hard to navigate due to family expectations on the married couple... in the end the couple will have to decide for themselves how they want to navigate the religious beliefs and practices, and how to participate in the family-religious ceremonies, etc. My best advice is to pray about it (if you pray) and to ask couples who have the same religions as you guys that have been married longer. Maybe those couples can help give you info and things to consider to help navigate the important things. Best wishes to you guys 🙏💕

I was born into a 4th generation Catholic family in Korea (goes back to the time when they were arresting Catholics in Korea), baptized before I could even walk, but no one in my family is super religious. I married my husband who’s a non-believer who’s totally cool with me praying here and there. Also, I never mention God or force any ideas onto him. We’re not planning on having kids, however, if we were to, we think we want to introduce as many religions as we can so they can choose themselves.

It doesnt make a lot of sense to me if you seriously practice in a religion to marry another person that is practicing another religion or is completely atheist. Your God should technically be the most important thing in your life, it doesnt make sense if you cant have a spouse, the second most important person, be someone who denies your God.
But in Rons marriage, some Protestant Christians will believe that catholicism is a separate religion entirely, but i think most protestants consider catholics just a separate Christian denomination with very different theological views

@2:26 lol mary/marry, nice one anthony
tangent, Hmong are an indigenous group, yes based in asian continents, which means their practice isn’t so much religion than it is around rituals/ceremony. Looked on google one time and it said animistic/animism, which does sum up what we believe and practice, and is generally any indigenous group (but of course, in Hmong language we don’t have that word and I wasn’t aware of such a term when I was growing up, and that’s why we prob wouldn’t be able to answer what “religion” we believe in..aside from the ones who converted to christianity).
So, back on how to deal with multiple religion practicing household..mmm in relation to Hmong ppl, if the family is “traditional” which I assume is true to this person y’all are giving advice to, i mean otherwise he wouldn’t ask b/c would be little to no problems nor tension, the best bet is to take a stand (“against” parents/elders) on important things your partner wants for the family/children and also educate your partner about imp practices/traditions you or your parents want to have practiced. And like the boyz said, does take empathy and openness to make it work, so hopefully home boy choose well 🤷🏻‍♀️
I am of the mindset that the essence of true origins of religions around the world is the same, we’ve just personalized it over the years. So honestly, I don’t see why there would be conflict practicing either or OR both (the only conflict is because human being’s ego wrote sayings like “all who believe will be saved” and “everyone against our one true god are doomed souls” like what the actual fuck is that kind of belief hm? sounds mighty insecure imo. didn’t know a god or goddess could feel such human emotions). And, I’d suggest raise children in both, because that is part of their lineage with parents from different practices and people who ultimately choose their own practice..some keep the ones they are taught others choose to scorn it all and everything in between.💁🏻‍♀️

Since he's Hmong I'm assuming it's shamanism vs christianity. I've known couples who married and had a successful marriage but one of them always had to convert to the other, and it only works if both aren't too strong in their faiths, or at least one of them isn't and is willing to convert, but if that wasn't the case already then they wouldn't have even been dating. I've known people who's tried to date someone of the other religion but once they both learn that neither one is going to budge, they called it off before it got too deep into the relationship. If you and your spouse have gotten to the point in your relationship where you're planning on getting married i would hope that conversation has already been had and there's a mutual understanding between the two. Best of luck too both of you. 🤞

jesus is very important in the quran we believe he is the messiah just not GOD, we believe in one God which is the same God as christians and jews. jesus is actually mentioned more than muhammad and moses is the most mentioned in the quran. we dont believe muhammad (pbuh) is more powerful or special, its just that he is the last messenger sent by God. muslims believe all the messengers (eg abraham, jesus, moses, muhammad etc) all were sent revelations and all performed miracles. i think christians think we dont believe in jesus lmao but really we just dont believe he was crucified or that there is a trinity.

It is not a mong, it is Hmong. They are a group of people in the Asian community, mostly in Southern China.
