love this series so much. I never thought it was possible to anthropomorphize plants, but here we are - I love the "personalities" and "history".
I love Brad's Giant's story of being the creepy lab grown mutant so much.
Poor peaches. Here I was hoping shed show those fancy cultivars that typicals are worthy competitors. I dont think it should count as a miss penalty since it was outside interference - if youre playing football and someone runs on the field, grabs the ball and runs off with it, the team with the ball isnt penalized. It should have just been considered neither a miss or catch, imho.

you could do natural selection with many traps by feeding them hard to catch large prey only like wasps, bees beetles, large spiders so insects that are strong and could escape. This way only the largest and strongest traps will survive to breed with each other and thus you will create a new breed that could specialize in larger stronger prey. After a few generations you could even upgrade to small vertebrates like small frogs forcing the traps to further evolve maybe you got have a 12 cm to 15cm trap that could catch mice. The power of selective breeding and natural selection.
This is one of my favorite series on youtube rn. It's just not something you see that makes it so interesting. But I will say I liked the old leader board more than this one in this episode. It was just easier to read. Like it said what kinds of flies were caught and this one does to but it's alot harder to read. But keep up the great vids bro. ❤

The reason it was a miss for her is because the second chance I gave her the fly escaped, just like they juked red in the last episode, so although the first catch was written off as it was interference from the wasp, the fly still got away in her second attempt :(
This is why I love UA-cam. Sometimes you end up going down a rabbit hole that leads you to discover an extremely well edited series on carnivorous plants that has plot lines and lore, and you find yourself rooting for these little plants to catch bugs like they're people on a high stakes drama TV show.

Wasps don't eat the bugs. They're too big for their abdomen, they chop them up to make it easier for the larvae to eat. Then, the larvae secrete some cocktail, from the bugs they eat, that the wasps drink. So, if anyone wants to know why they're so protective, that's because it's their food source.
The wasps have been traitors. While they DO get eaten by the traps, they still get the flies for us which is nice. But seeing this video makes me think maybe the wasps have switched sides
Thats what I thought too, they were taking flies which is good but stealing catches from the plants is not good. The other thing is that when they get caught by plants they will often eat their way out or bite the traps open so I think they have definitely switched sides... luckily the spiders are on our side. They often live with the plants but get caught by the traps if they get too close

I'm not into botany. I don't grow any plants or have a garden of any sort. I'm not terribly interested in learning about plants. Yet, I've watched several of these videos and have been enjoying them. I'm just trying to figure out why.

I seriously hope you can help the plants most affected negatively by the wasps and flies by supplying them with emergency beef substitutes for their survival. I had been wondering about viable substitutes that aren't insects just in case for caring for VFT in an apartment where it gets very cold, and don't have a greenhouse, but this video made me realize that this kind of situation is another reason worth knowing about substitutes for the survival of the plants.

thats why I use pliers to feed my traps. the trap won't close without getting its meal. I would have took the wasp aswell and fed it to a trap
I never thought I would say this but...I'm glad I went down the rabbit hole because it led to this! I felt bad for Peaches having her food stolen from the wasp. Now, I have a new respect for flytrap (along with a strong dislike for wasps and flies). Great video!

hi!! i'm going to repot my plants soon and i was wondering what soil mix to use - i want to go with peat moss and sand 1:1, i read that you have to use sharp, but i can't find any sharp graded sand, only rounded ~1.2-2mm. can you please tell which sand you use in your mix? is it essential to use sharp sand and is it better to switch to perlite if I can't find one, or can i go with rounded?
When I was on the farm I would see bees and wasps snatch flies up and take them away! Probably back to the hive! Food for the larvae!
