    Wow! Talk about coming back with a bang! That’s a nice smoker you have there. It’s an LSG, so what’s there not to like? Nice to see Chris at LSG showing you some love by supporting smaller channels like yours, because it won’t stay that way for long. Can’t wait to see how it well it works. I’m sure you’ll put it to the test, even on cold snowy days which we’re having here today in Colorado. Nice to see you back, Jonathan.

      So.....Chris won't support small channels for long......or my channel won't be small for long????? ;-) Haha. I know what you meant. Thanks for the kind words and the support! I am thrilled with my new cooker and can't wait to burn some fat on this baby!! Can't wait to put it to the test in some cold Minny weather.....but I am not ready for snow yet!! Wow. Y'all really do have the swings out there. Enjoy it tho!

    Very nice smoker. I have a Humphrey’s Battle Box. Similar design. I love the cart. These are heavy boxes that that are difficult to wheel around. That cart gives you a stable base to move it around and gives you a shelf and storage vas well. I agree that these give you the result of a stick burner with the convenience (Almost) of a pellet grill, especially if you add a WiFi controller with a fan that mounts on your air intake. This makes it truly a set it and forget it set up. Nice video Thank you!

    • @Texas2.5
      @Texas2.5  3 роки тому

      I have a really nice fan control unit I’ve never even opened because the smoker runs so well on its own. Maybe I’ll go to the trouble of hooking that thing up and figuring it out someday, but for now seems more time than it’s worth. Amazon cookers. Humphreys was the only other brand I even considered. They look great too and Michelle there is awesome.

    • @Texas2.5

      I do not burn splits, just charcoal and fist sized chunks of hardwood or fruitwood. I believe LSG has the specs listed on their site but I'd estimate like 18 wide by 30 long on the firebox, and maybe 6 inches deep. The water pan is maybe 3 inches deep.But it's a huge chamber so it holds probably 3-4 gallons.

    I’ve been looking at LSG for a few years now thanks to you and Russ Jones, Grumpus, T-Roy and several others. I think this style of smoker would fit my needs better than an offset for the same reasons as you. I’d be curious to see just how much you can fit in there without it being overcrowded and affecting the cook. I tend to do a variety of meats each time I cook. Usually spatchcocked chicken/ ribs/ sausage/ and brisket. Usually like to throw corn and other sides in as well. My pellet grill just doesn’t cut it anymore.

    • @Texas2.5
      @Texas2.5  4 роки тому +1

      That's a video I hope to do someday when I can afford that much meat and freezer space 😏 I don't want to know how much a guy can shoehorn in there using ridiculous setups that no real cook would ever use. I want to know how much fits practically, with good air flow, smoke exposure, and only requires a reasonable amount of charcoal to get er done.

    have been wanting their new pellet smoker, but I've had a few people recommend their IVS. I don't have time to baby sit an offset, but want that offset type flavor. a few people that have them are saying the flavor on the IVS is close to an offset and saw you said that as well. cost may be the deciding factor. great video. have you had much bbq food off of a pellet smoker? what are your thoughts on them. Ive heard ppl say they don't like the flavor or that it has a lot less flavor.

    • @Texas2.5
      @Texas2.5  3 роки тому +1

      I have not had pellet smoker food, but I do notice that people who love the cheap ones typically don’t know too much good BBQ, and people who know good BBQ and own cheap pellet smokers often choose to supplement with smoke tubes. No idea if more expensive high quality pellet smokers like LSG have changed this.

      Just a bit of advice. Purchase the smoker that fits your needs and more importantly, your lifestyle. As much as I would love to sit outside tossing logs in a stick burner (i.e. offset smoker) every 45 minutes while drinking a beer, my lifestyle simply does not align with that. On the weekends, I have to take the kids to their sporting events. During the week, I have my full-time job. The insulated smoker works for my lifestyle. I can set my fireboard at my desired temp and monitor the temps from my phone. That works for me. While I am certain that a stick burner will produce a slightly better product, I know that an insulated smoker will get more use because its approach fits with how I live my life today. I have heard that using a fireboard with an offset smoker is doable, it is really not ideal. The insulated smoker holds temps very well and requires way less of my time.

    Man that thing is nice!!! BTW, what happened to the offset you had from LonestarGrillz? Still got that? It's also a great piece of art and equipment all in one!

      @Texas2.5  4 роки тому +1

      I only have room in the garage for one smoker, and the offset just didn't fit my lifestyle. No time for sticks. But it was a beautiful cooker!!

      @@Texas2.5 man that sucks to hear. You and t-roy are the reason I wanted a LSG. I was luck enough to find one used but in great shape. Have done 2 cooks so far and she's been a breeze.

      I hope to have one again someday! Just wanted my primary smoker to be a little easier on time commitment. Thrilled that you got yours! Congrats and let me know what you cook next👉🏼💨

      Yes, since I'm a town-houser I only have room for one dream pit in the garage at a time. Had to make room!
