Saw these in Newcastle England about a week before Scott left/sacked ,although i have seen zeppelin/queen/muse/u2 etc etc this was the BEST gig i have ever seen!!No talking, minimum lighting, song after song of pure rock and roll with real attitude and intensity.Something in the air that night, maybe the tension on stage made it what it was, amazing!!
This might be the best period in his career, he was clean, amazing onstage, and making some of the best music of his life. Too bad it didn’t last RIP Scott
After all these years I still think Velvet Revolver should’ve lasted a lot longer! I know Scott Weiland was always on hard drugs and difficult to work with but damn did his voice fit the musical style of the band! At least they put out a killer debut album and a solid follow up album but I just would’ve liked to see them go farther when they were together and before Weiland’s passing! Great song, great record, and a great band!💪🏻🤘🏻
Number 4 vive... this album has everything STP! Thank you Scott... my all time favourite frontman/interpreter/vocalist... You are the best my friend, sing the sh*t out in Heaven! RIP goat... One of the best bands ever! Long live STP
Watch the intensity of the song beginning with 2:43 - Slash's guitar solo, Matt Sorum getting up from his drum seat, Dave Kushner in back, Duff - amazing part filled with real passion for the song - you hardly see this nowadays in bands - that's why they are great - RIP Scott!
Anyone that has followed the members of VR knows what an amazing amalgamation that this band evolved from some of the greatest ROCK bands in history...for ex: Scott(STP) Matt(The Cult and GnR) Dave(LA''s Wasted Youth) Duff(GnR, Sex Pistols and a gang of side projects) and of course all you have to say is the guy's name SLASH. Overflowing with talent, a A TRUE SUPERGROUP!!! SCOTT REST IN PLEASURE MY FRIEND
I recently started listening to an artist with a unique voice that I loved and I had no idea it was him and someone who is no longer with us. So sad and such a tragedy he is gone. RIP.
Still remember the first time I heard this song and thinking this band was going to bring straight up and down rock and roll back to the mainstream. They kinda did for a minute, but I still think VR was crazy underrated. Both albums were great but the first one was really the sum of it's parts.
I remember thoroughly raging the first time I heard this song on the radio, because it was the debut. I was so beyond pumped for this band. When it got to Slash’s solo, which then launches into Scott absolutely screaming the bridge … I was punching my steering wheel with pure adrenaline!!
nothing weird about that....i have listened to slash since the 80's and he may not be the most virtuoso player but 90% of what he does makes the song a better song....a real legend of the guitar!
Honestly by the time this came out I think we all thought the whole 80s sunset strip sleaze rock was corny. But there was something so fresh about this song, it's heavy as hell has a great groove and feels so sleazy. Legendary tune
As much as I love this song, it saddens me greatly. I saw them perform in Boise in 2007 and Scott was SO THIN. He did an incredible job, but I had a bad feeling, seeing him up on stage. RIP, Legend.
Isn’t that ironic, they both consisted of band members from other bands that basically did. Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against The Machine, Guns n Roses, etc. etc.
It's not that they didn't but it seems the music industry had other plans for the future of rock, being both groups rolled out in the early 2000s. Ironically I was listening to " like a stone" prior.
Hell yeah - I should clarify, my comment wasn't meant to be negative in any way. I rocked all of that music, and this! Too many of the hands-down greatest vocalists (at least my absolutely most favorite vocalists) were taken. RIP: Scott Weiland, Layne Staley, Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell ...and more... dayum - Shannon Hoon! Remember him?! Too many...
@@zzaichik8572 Yes my friend. They're called "Superbands". The suits had to milk the talent out of the last generation. VR and AS, were still great though.
It's heartbreaking to see the transformation of Scott from STP when he was buffed and cut to Velvet Revolver when he's just a waif of his old self. You can tell that addiction has taken hold and I wish he had found a way through it!! Such an amazing group!
One of the last great hard rock bands to really BRING it.Saw them twice at IC LIGHT Amphitheater and Rolling Rock festival. GREAT live show .One of best singers ever. Also seen him with STP on their first tour. Totally amazing. Wish they could have put out 10 more albums!
Incredible band..🖤 Scott was such a great singer. He ALWAYS honored the melody and his phrasing, tone control, intonation and vulnerability were absolutely stellar. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thank you so much, Barry, for this Thoughtful and Accurate Post--it is Appreciated! :) I'm only just now getting turned-on to Stone Temple Pilots--I know: in many cases, I've been some 30 Years "Late to The Party!" But that's Ok, because now I'm Totally Enjoying Myself Being Immersed in all of STP's Wonderful Music, Song-by-Song, beginning only a couple of months ago. I'm now into The Magic of album "No. 4", with Great Songs like "Down", "No Way Out", and "Sour Girl"!!!
@@bluewater3783 My pleasure, glad you appreciate my appreciation of that great singer and band 🌹 I also only recently discovered STP when a popular UA-cam channel praised in depth “Interstate Love Song”, and another channel with over 6M subs went crazy over “Vasoline”. Before, I had lumped STP in with Pearl Jam and other grunge acts who in my opinion were overrated. My music tastes are more passionate and varied than anyone I’ve ever known. Naturally, I love to discuss those few great musicians and bands! 🤪
@@barrysmith8920 Btw, Barry, in case you didn't know, there's this channel: "Rick Beato"--I think he got over 1 Million subs his first year (has around 3 Million, now). He has a Bachelor's in Music from Ithaca College (Double Bass, Classical Music, but Heavily Studied Jazz Guitar); then earned his Master's in Jazz Studies at New England Conservatory of Music (Jazz Guitar). Became a Guitar professor at Ithaca College. :) Then quit to play in bands with record deals, but never "made it big". Ended up in Atlanta as a record producer (of mostly "nu metal"--though he did co-write a #1 Hit Single, which I Believe was a "Country" genre hit). Now "retired", but very busy with his UA-cam channel! My point: Rick has an interesting series of videos: "WMTSG?" (What Makes This Song Great?), each is about 15-20 minutes long, as he takes one song per video--"Interstate Love Song", for example--and analyses it musically in interesting ways. Rick has his own recording studio and the tapes to the songs that he analyzes, so he can separate-out just the vocals, or just the drums, etc., as he enlightens us as to what's going on, musically, that the "ordinary" listener might not otherwise pick up on. Check one or two out when you get a chance! :) "What Makes This Song Great?" (Or simply: "WMTSG? Interstate Love Song?"). I think he also does "Vaseline". But he has, like, more than 100 WMTSG?, with greatly varied artists. Enjoy!
@@bluewater3783 Yes, that’s where I heard about “Vasoline” from Beato’s channel. And “Interstate Love Song” from a really well researched and produced UA-cam channel; ua-cam.com/video/fugzKx4F1u8/v-deo.html
Love this band! Scott was definitely one of my top 3 frontmen. Slash, amazing. Whole band was the perfect team. Could watch Scott all day, he's mesmerizing.
I remember feeling so hyped when this came out. It still rocks to this day. RIP, Scott Weiland. You're a very talented bastard and didn't have to die the way you did.
My gut, tells me he was battling addiction hard. Not using daily, bc most hard addicts , at this point can handle fetanyl. It's when we get arrested or detox and pickup. Being fresh is dangerous

Saw them at voodoo fest in Nola early 2000s and fell in love with them again and not for the first time. Scott was sexily shedding clothes piece by piece hyping the crowd and expectedly high asf, slash was sexy, they sounded flawless and played songs by stp and guns and roses as well as their own. We had just left from seeing Cypress Hill which had us floating. Best concert experience ever!!!
The only mainstream proper rock band out that I know if right now is Greta Van Fleet but most people hate them, there is still many good bands out there its all just gone underground. Like the grunge scene has moved to Brazil there's a melting pot of grunge there atm and over in Australia their having their punk phase right now too
It's crazy how talented Weiland was, going from STP to Velvet Revolver, the contrast between them is astounding. What a chameleon he was gonna have to listen to some of his solo stuff as well.

Right?! Scott was so exytemely talented! I love Core, that's my favourite. If you listen to how much range there is on just that album! Both with his vocals but also the songs and the lyrics. He does everything from Pearl Jam to Soundgarden. Then there are songs like Interstate Love Song, Atlanta which is more ballad like. People also like Sour Girl. I dont. And then VR who is clean rock'n roll. Damn did he nail it! Slither, Fall To Pieces! And his Christmas Album!! He sings with a clean classic voice like Sinatra! Damn he was one of a kind! And that show he did put on while on stage when he was at his best! No one was as charismatic as Scott Hot Stuff Weiland!
Beginning at 2:42, and for the duration of Slash's solo, Slither becomes everything GnR would have been at this moment on some alternate timeline I desperately wish was our own.
Velvet Revolver, Audioslave, y Stone temple pilots.......Grandes y maravillosas Bandas. Las demas dimensiones estan gozando de estos extraordinarios cantantes.
Just shows how powerful a performer scott Weiland was and why they wanted him for velvet revolver. One of my 90s music idles just with his style and talent. He will be missed.
this song rocks sox so hard... The lead singer was in STP and he has the stage presence of David Bowie with the vocal skills of Chris Cornell. What a talent.
My GOD, this song ROCKS, lol. So, I was a teen during the 90s and I absolutely loved STP. When I heard they had kicked Scott out of the band, I was extremely disappointed...disappointed in the band for kicking Scott out but I was more upset with Scott for not being able to get his shit together. Shortly after, I heard that Slash, Duff, and Matt were accepting video auditions for a new lead singer and we even sent in a few submissions, as we had our own garage band at the time, lol. When I found out they had hired Scott for the gig, I KNEW this band would be something "special". Don't get me wrong, other groups had done similar things (Mad Season, Audioslave, etc.). But Scott with the guys from G 'n R had SO much promise. When Cobtraband dropped, it was one of those rare albums that you could play from the first song to the last and NOT hear a "bad song". This song in particular was/is AMAZING! When Velvet Revolver played my city, I bought tickets with a backstage "meet and greet" which happened BEFORE the show. It was obvious that Scott was SO messed up that he could barely stand and I remember thinking there was NO WAY he'd be able to perform that night. But not only did he make it through it, it was one of the best shows I've seen to date...I was right up front with Scott yelling the lyrics into my face through his megaphone, lol. Such a shame they didn't produce more albums.
I remember watching these guys in High School on tv for a making the band type show called Rise of Velvet Revolver. They blew me away instantly. My fav song is Fall to Pieces...something about that song I'm sure everyone can relate to. RIP Scott Weiland.
There is a distinct group of men who have perfect rock n roll voices. For example: Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Jerry Cantrell, Chester Bennington, Ozzy Osbourne, Gavin Rossdale to name a few.
I wouldn't put Chris Cornell first before Ozzy , Layne Staley or Jerry Cantrell or Scott Weiland !!! Chris Cornell is okay but those other bands are top tier !!!
Really...? You could combine them all as one and they still couldn't come close to Chris Cornell's range, tone, texture, richness or dynamics. And that's a fact, not just opinion. However, I still respect your view.@@Wolf69592

This dong dropped on my 58 th birthday and words cannot describe the feeling of real life-affirming warmth suddenly touching my heart again ❤ I've been listening to this song on repeat since it dropped. And now this video to add icing to the proverbial cake. It's 110 % perfection! It's " Degradation Trip " and " Dirt " and I swear to God that I can sense the spirit of Layne present within this slice of masterclass song crafting ❤️❤️❤️

Slash wanted rock n roll. No violins and swimming with dolphins (estranged is still one of my favorite GNR songs of all time). He got what he wanted because Velvet revolver ended up being way more awesome than I thought they were gonna be.

how are they supposed to rest in peace when as dead and inanimate there is no control over anything nor the conscious to perceive it in whatever state it ends up in,peaceful or not.i might as well say...Scott bro i pulled up the weeds i saw next to your stone because of your allergy.come on!
.
I think you might have some issues. Good luck man.
BIGT onthebeat You are right.
Tom Birch that fucking H took a good one.
Uh, it wasn't H. It was coke and MDA, mixed up with a deadly cocktail of prescribed and unprescribed pharma.
Too bad it didn’t last RIP Scott
love the tension before the solo. It just sets the stage for Slash to rip one of his best solos.
Vennaris - en llamas
After all these years I still think Velvet Revolver should’ve lasted a lot longer! I know Scott Weiland was always on hard drugs and difficult to work with but damn did his voice fit the musical style of the band! At least they put out a killer debut album and a solid follow up album but I just would’ve liked to see them go farther when they were together and before Weiland’s passing! Great song, great record, and a great band!💪🏻🤘🏻
What a band. I loved them. This is one of the greatest songs and riffs ever
Dirty groove of immaculate sound
Anyone that has followed the members of VR knows what an amazing amalgamation that this band evolved from some of the greatest ROCK bands in history...for ex: Scott(STP) Matt(The Cult and GnR) Dave(LA''s Wasted Youth) Duff(GnR, Sex Pistols and a gang of side projects) and of course all you have to say is the guy's name SLASH. Overflowing with talent, a A TRUE SUPERGROUP!!! SCOTT REST IN PLEASURE MY FRIEND
Slash is just amazing. In concert he plays even better than the albums. A lot of players can’t equal whats on their albums but he betters it.
Really?! In which one?
@@alxdava2004 which concert or which album?
i don't really like slash style but i have to say he have some amazing sound and is so technical sounds so fucking fire though
He's a decent guitar player.
There's some 13 year old Malaysian kid with a used Strat missing 2 strings that could play literal circles around Slash In his peak form.
Slash has such great stage presence, I know that’s weird to say, but he always in a great groove.
Actually....spot on!!💣💥🤘
Why would that be weird to say?
Give credit where it's due 🙂
Huh? How’s that weird? That’s common sense
@@mr.smithgnrsmith7808 just an odd way to describe a man like Slash that’s all lol
nothing weird about that....i have listened to slash since the 80's and he may not be the most virtuoso player but 90% of what he does makes the song a better song....a real legend of the guitar!
Slash rocks here big time!
Scott is so talented! One of my all time favs. I started listening to him when I was 16. I'm almost 47. Hated to lose him.
Velvet Revolver and Audioslave shouldve ruled the airwaves for a decade.
This song fucking rocks.
U dam straight that fucking song rocks
Incredible band..🖤
Scott was such a great singer.
He ALWAYS honored the melody and his phrasing, tone control, intonation and vulnerability were absolutely stellar. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thank you so much, Barry, for this Thoughtful and Accurate Post--it is Appreciated! :)
I'm only just now getting turned-on to Stone Temple Pilots--I know: in many cases, I've been some 30 Years "Late to The Party!" But that's Ok, because now I'm Totally Enjoying Myself Being Immersed in all of STP's Wonderful Music, Song-by-Song, beginning only a couple of months ago. I'm now into The Magic of album "No. 4", with Great Songs like "Down", "No Way Out", and "Sour Girl"!!!
@@bluewater3783 My pleasure, glad you appreciate my appreciation of that great singer and band 🌹
I also only recently discovered STP when a popular UA-cam channel praised in depth “Interstate Love Song”, and another channel with over 6M subs went crazy over “Vasoline”.
Then quit to play in bands with record deals, but never "made it big".
"What Makes This Song Great?" (Or simply: "WMTSG? Interstate Love Song?").
I think he also does "Vaseline".
But he has, like, more than 100 WMTSG?, with greatly varied artists.
Enjoy!
@@bluewater3783 Yes, that’s where I heard about “Vasoline” from Beato’s channel.
And “Interstate Love Song” from a really well researched and produced UA-cam channel; ua-cam.com/video/fugzKx4F1u8/v-deo.html

It is unbelievable the talent that was never allowed to come of age with this group
To me, the most underrated part of the song is the riff/bass combo under Slash's solo. Yes, the solo is great, but those two are just as amazing, IMHO
Slash is never underrated 🤘😁
RIP Scott. You were so talented.
One of the first musicians that influenced my love for music
I saw him / STP in Chas, SC Wavefest back in like ‘98-‘99!!!! He came out totally naked with a cowboy hat on his junk and the crowd in the baseball stadium went INSANE!!!!
He had so much charisma!
One of the best

A killer riff for a great song from an awesome band. Just perfect.
Scott Weiland was the definition of being a rockstar

What. A. Banger. Still! Better than 99.99% of music over the past decade. What a combo this was. Too soon....
Slash doesn't play the guitar, he makes goddamn love to it.

This rock song seriously should be a training video for those who want to rock. There is NOTHING wrong with this song.

Ive seen Scott when he was younger and healthier, and you barely recognize him now! RIP my friend!

this song rocks sox so hard... The lead singer was in STP and he has the stage presence of David Bowie with the vocal skills of Chris Cornell. What a talent.
Love the verse chord progressions where you never know if he's sliding, picking or hammering.. adds a great texture to the sound.
That guitar solo is just mind-blowing,my fav part of the song hands down

I wouldn't put Chris Cornell first before Ozzy , Layne Staley or Jerry Cantrell or Scott Weiland !!! Chris Cornell is okay but those other bands are top tier !!!
