  • As Christians, we often refer to ourselves as “being saved” when we talk about our salvation. But what-or who-are we saved from? In this message, R.C. Sproul looks to Scripture to define the gospel, explaining that sinners like us must be saved from the wrath of a just and holy God. It is only as we understand God’s perfect justice that we come to cherish His mercy and marvel at His glory.
This message is from Dr. Sproul’s 5-part teaching series When Worlds Collide. Learn more: www.ligonier.org/learn/series...

Please pray for me if you read this. I'm a Christian in recovery from addiction, I've also struggled with depression/anxiety for 20+ years. May God be gracious to you and yours.

Perfectly consistent with what is revealed to us in Jeremiah about God’s wrath. Thank you for making these lessons publicly available.

I wish with all my heart, mind, body and soul...that what Dr. Sproul just taught...was "publicly believed"as the"winepress" is being scientifically prepared as we approach an objectively verified. coming Solar recurrent nova and extinction cycles...we couldn't be any more deserving of the" Wrath of GOD" than we are today!

We tend to forget that the cross is a simbol of the Great perfect love of Jesus Christ but also of Gods hate for sin.If God is willing to do that to His son , what chance do we stand if we are not covered by the blood of Jesus. Thank you Jesus, only Jesus always Jesus forever and ever Halelujah!!!!!!

So nice to hear it plane from RC. Songs aren’t written to glorify God simply because He is good. His goodness extends out to mercy and favor and Grace sparing us from
His justified wrath - none of us deserves any of it. Which is why we sing. It’s the least we can do.
    Praise God!

    Let us be thankful, then,
    because we receive a kingdom
    that
    cannot be shaken.
Let us begrateful and worship GOD
    in a way
    that
    will please HIM,
    with
    reverence and awe;
    Because our GOD IS INDEED
    A DESTROYING FIRE.

For the first time I ever thought about the song, "my eyes have seen ..." and exactly understood it's meaning though I sang that so many times. What a great teacher, Dr. R.C was ... miss him but not his influence ❤❤❤

Hi James. It's been 9 months since you made your post. I hope you read what I'm writing. God loves you. Hold on to him as if your entire life depended on it, because it does . God will honor your commitment to him. He will keep you safe. He will watch over you. Life is hard, but you have a crown waiting for you and you will spend an eternity with him.

What does this have to do with the message, anyway? Mind boggling.

@Yesica1993 you quoted ecclesiastes. It's a book in the Bible. You don't know what you quoted? And you're on an rc sproul video. With that information, type in rc sproul ecclesiastes or nothing new under the sun, and find it. It's not hours and years, it's the internet, there's only one video. I assumed you knew what you were quoting. My apologies, if I twist up scripture, I would like to know. I assumed you would too. Carry on

God is perfectly just, so He cannot allow sin to go unpunished. Since God is the infinite and eternal Creator, all sin is ultimately against Him and only an infinite and eternal punishment is sufficient. Eternal death-separation from God-is the only just punishment for sin.

Even though God is behind creation - that does not mean that God is behind everything that happens within creation.
God has given us the right to exercise our authority over the behavior and attitude of our lives - therefore - we are capable of being creators in our own right; including creating suffering for ourselves and others.
This delusionary belief - that God is causing our suffering and perhaps punishing us - is one of the most dangerous delusionary belief promoted by religious teachers. For how can we become free from suffering if we do not realize what is causing it?
As long as we believe that delusion - we will blame God or others - or our circumstances for our suffering and not realize that we are responsible for our suffering.
Our wrong thinking - and the negative emotions and negative actions that flow from our thoughts - causes our suffering.
Depending on what we choose to believe and how we choose to respond to life - we create more Love in the world or the opposite.
When we choose to express the opposite of Love or cause harm - it is not God that is at fault.
God gifted us with the freedom to do what we want - to do and to create or miscreate along whatever lines us feel are necessary - but we cannot overpower God.
We eventually learn from our choices to be better creators - to create happiness instead of suffering - and it is suffering that teaches us this; suffering points us away from what is anti-life - anti-Love.
Our own personal suffering is the so-called "punishment" we receive when we create choices that are not aligned with Love - that is the only "punishment" meted out by God.
We are designed to suffer whenever we miss the mark - which is the meaning of sin. The mark - the target or goal - is Love; we suffer whenever we fall out of alignment with Love.
Suffering and joy are part of the guidance system we have been given. The homing device - which when followed - will bring us back home to Love.
Suffering tells us that we are believing a delusion or taking a wrong direction - while joy tells us the opposite.
If we do not want to suffer - then we must stop believing or doing what causes us and others suffering - and start believing and doing what brings peace - Love and joy.
