Gen 1 hunts are so interesting. Shiny hunting already requires luck, but having to see if the stats match up correctly is like watching slot reels line up for a jackpot haha. Edit: Also I think people don’t like shinies like Zapdos, Regice, etc because they’ve only seen the normal/shiny models from the 3D styles when some color palettes were changed up. I’ve shown some of my shiny hunting pals the old sprites from the original games and they appreciated the older shiny sprites a lot more.
@@Lyncin yes, DVS needs to match, however if i remember right due to how the game handles generating pokemon, walking on grass and surfing does not generate the DVS needed to the pokemon be shiny.

One of those shinies where the colours remain the same but they really do pop and look amazing, I actually got the same shiny with the same stats but my crystal file along with my shiny raikou and other treasured shinies got deleted… Congrats!

So when u did this hunt. You used the transfer pak to play it on the tv so u can soft reset easy? Because you just press the reset button and that’s it right? I just wanna make sure because I wanna hunt the trio in Red version
My Yellow VC is coincidentally trainer ID 00001. Didn't reset for it, didn't even notice til I was in post game. In the middle of a Gen 1 Moltres hunt cause that ID is too good not to try and get some shinies.
I was hunting shiny alpha heracross in legends arceus while watching this. On my route i go past alpha rapidash i got the shiny alpha rapidash and 1 reset later got the shiny alpha heracross, i am in shock.

Sonikks do you know if the gift psyduck from Stadium can be shiny? I’ve looked everywhere for an answer and can’t find one. I’ve always wondered as I thought there probably isn’t a single person with that Pokémon as shiny (if it’s possible)
@@RandalfElVikingo oh I know you only get one per play through and I’m pretty sure it’s not soft resettable. I just know only certain Pokémon have DV ranges capable of being shiny in gen 1. I just don’t know if any one has data on the ranges for stadium gift Pokémon. It was all just a thought on what might be the most difficult shiny to get outside of completed events
A few people have asked me that and tbh, I have no idea. There are some gifts in Stadium 2 as well like Gligar. If they can be shiny, it would be a brutal hunt as you need to clear the game to just choose one.
I got him 2 times, one on fire red and the second time on a random fist encounter on ultra sun. He was my first shiny legendary😍 Fun fact I got mewtwo on fire red the same day after zapdos, I was shocked, mewtwo is also my fav Pokémon, just try to imagine… 2 legends on a 1/8192 chance in 1 day!!!😶 I love old gen shiny hunting it’s so satisfying and rewarding that you’ll also love to get jynx😂
It happened again to me when I got xurkitree, azelf and cresselia the same day then a week later in the same day I found regigigas, yveltal and kyogre but in newer games this feeling is not the same I don’t know how to tell what I mean xD

Surprised you attempted another Gen 1 hunt after your comments about the Mewtwo hunt, but congrats nonetheless. If you get around to reading this comment, do you know if hunting with Dodrio mode in Stadium 1 or 2 is possible? I got to ~2,220 resets for a shiny Moltres using Dodrio mode then I stopped to see if it was affecting odds and couldn’t find any information about it online. Just figured if there’s someone who would know, either you’d know or you’d know someone who would.
I think the thing I disliked the most about Gen 1 Mewtwo was the fact it was a 100th shiny special. I couldn't hunt anything else next to it and I was locked into it for 14k encounters. What do you mean about Dodrio mode sorry?
@@Sonikks ah that makes sense, especially since Gen 1 hunting requires more attention than other Gens. By Dodrio mode I mean the x2 and x3 emulation speeds in the GameBoy Tower, my worry being it possibly skips frames or something similar to achieve the speed up and subsequently messes with the odds.

Oh man, i'm torn. I wanna shiny hunt, and build a live shiny dex, but the way i wanna do it, is by obtaining the shiny in their original games. Like for example, getting a shiny charmander in red, but i heard that you can't trade Pokemon from gen 1 & 2 into anything. I heard on the 3ds you can, as you can buy the digital version of the games, but at the same time, albeit expensive, i want the physical copies of the games.
Unfortunately, if you wanna do it that way, 90% of the Gen 1 games are shiny locked, as only gift, stationary, (legendaries and snorlax) and traded Pokémon (from NPCs) can be shiny. So you can’t hunt most Pokémon in Gen 1, only Gen 2.
@@skipperdmudkipz that's fine, as long as i got them in those games, that's all that matters. I have fire red and leaf green, which i'm still counting as "in their original games". Also, i just want to have the physical copies of the game to show off to my non-existing and non-caring friends.
So, when the second generation of Pokémon games was created, they added shiny Pokémon into the game. They decided to have it be determined by the individual values (essentially, the IVs, but a variant version from gen 3 +) of the Pokémon in that generation. However, those rules still apply to transfers from generation 1, which were possible in the original games, because they could have those same sets of IVs. So, for example, you catch a Rattata in gen one, and you don’t know its IVs. But if you level it up to around level 50, you can guess easily based on the specific number. Then, if that set of IVs matches a set that makes a Pokémon shiny in gen 2, it will be shiny in gen 2.
my goal in legends arceus is to get a shiny in each of the different regions so it'll give me a total of 5 shinies im hoping for the hisui versions of either stantler and possibly sneasle
It can take a while yeah. I got 00000 in Silver the other day too. I usually take my games fishing with me or while I'm working to just reset casually.

Sonikks can shiny hunt even in Pókemon TCG, Pokémon Pinball and even when he buys Funkos.
Zapdos pallette was always atrocious but Regice in gen 3 is great.

Shiny zapdos looks so much better in gen 2 than in the newer games. It's so orange, nowadays it's just a slightly different schade of yellow.

You're asking for too much of a hunt, but I think it depends of the stats of the Psyduck. I think you can only get one if I remember right.

I found three full odds shinies on the same day too. This Zapdos, Excadrill in White 2 and Poochyena in Gen 3. Sometimes the stars align!

Unfortunately, if you wanna do it that way, 90% of the Gen 1 games are shiny locked, as only gift, stationary, (legendaries and snorlax) and traded Pokémon (from NPCs) can be shiny. So you can’t hunt most Pokémon in Gen 1, only Gen 2.
@@skipperdmudkipz that's fine, as long as i got them in those games, that's all that matters. I have fire red and leaf green, which i'm still counting as "in their original games". Also, i just want to have the physical copies of the game to show off to my non-existing and non-caring friends.

How did you know that a specific stats can make a pokemon shiny? Is it a Gen 1 thing?
So, when the second generation of Pokémon games was created, they added shiny Pokémon into the game. They decided to have it be determined by the individual values (essentially, the IVs, but a variant version from gen 3 +) of the Pokémon in that generation. However, those rules still apply to transfers from generation 1, which were possible in the original games, because they could have those same sets of IVs.
So, for example, you catch a Rattata in gen one, and you don’t know its IVs. But if you level it up to around level 50, you can guess easily based on the specific number. Then, if that set of IVs matches a set that makes a Pokémon shiny in gen 2, it will be shiny in gen 2.
my goal in legends arceus is to get a shiny in each of the different regions so it'll give me a total of 5 shinies im hoping for the hisui versions of either stantler and possibly sneasle
