Awesome video - that was an absolute joy to watch from beginning to end! Really appreciate all the beautiful detail in your work, the humour, and the way you unfold a great story - so impressed by how you're able to draw the audience in, and completely forget about time. Sign of an exceptional storyteller 👍 Thanks for sharing! :)
Jason,Jason,Jason you are a true artist my friend. Never disappoint. I am an avid photographer who has never filmed in his life. The filmography in your videos has inspired me to dust off and break open the go-pro (a gift) from its box that's been sitting on the shelf for the last 6 months. You have a true talent. Thank you for sharing it with us. Take care and all the best in the New Year.
Great! Thanks for the kind words. The ol GoPro's are pretty slick. They surely have their limitations but they do some things really well. The latest one has some amazing stabilization.
J man. First -- I would like to thank u tube for the notification thingy. And most of all you for putting these videos out. Joe b turned me on on to you and I must say you are the best.... from the scenes to the sounds. --- you capture the epic surroundings of the park. In 2015 I took the family in our travel trailer to mew lake and very much enjoyed it so much... I am so glad you are back. I now enjoy portaging the Adirondacks in NY because of you. I Now use wheels to move it from lake to lake.....Thank you. I really appreciate the time and effort of your videos.... from NY USA. Thanks! Jeff
Thanks a lot Jeff. Glad to hear you are out in the Adirondacks. I've been hiking a bit in that area as I have some extended fam there but never canoeing. Its on the list though!
Great video guys. Never easy to bring all the footage together like that. Definitely motivating many to get out into the outdoors. Something we all need these days.
couldn't agree more with Chris,, great job, fun times. some great bird songs as well, clearly early spring, song sparrows, couple warblers and more. thank you ,, Bob,
Tumblehome thank you, it’s my gig, lol meant to ask? You mentionEd hearing owls, spring is great as they’re a early nester so often have young to look after by early May, was it Barred owls mostly or were you able to identify other species? 😊👍🇨🇦 thanks , Bob
Stunning. Your choice of music adds so much to the feeling of your shots. It brings me right to the peace of that place. It feels 'almost' as good as being there, and makes me dream of ice-out. Thanks for taking us along. I appreciate all the work this takes.
You've done it again Jason and Scott - great video always love the camera + edits and Scott's standup routine. We were the folks that recognized the Carolyn Jane at the Penn - Rock portage, you guys are as much fun in person as you are on the videos, thanks again for the great video and making us dream about spring camp trips already - Matt and Jenn
Awesome. In hindsight I should have pulled out the camera and had you say hello but I don't like jamming it in peoples face :-) It was great meeting you and I'm glad you like the movie. Just as we pulled up to the start of the big 3k portage, another fella who had just finished it was looking at me funny. "Hey are you that guy on UA-cam!.. OH MY GOD IT IS YOU!" :-) Well on that portage I never heard the end of the ribbing from Scott about how famous I am and how he's not worthy etc...
Found this video by mention from Joe Robinet and glad I tuned in! Good work men! Great camera work as you captured some amazing picture perfect sights!
Beautiful trip and video. I can't tell you how much these videos help get me through the winter blahs. The ending had me laughing to tears! Thanks again Jay!
Absolutely brilliant once again Jason! Always love watching your films. Scott was awesome again too! I so want to come back to Canada for a paddle with you one day. All the best Danny
Dude, I really don't get how you don't have more of a following. These videos are so well done! Thank you for taking the time to capture and edit this video, it's been really enjoyable for me. I hope to get up there sometime within the next couple of years! I have to finish my cedar strip canoe before I can take it anywhere haha. Also, have you ever thought about doing a video showing your camera setup? Maybe you already have, but I'm really curious to see that :)
Really enjoyed your trip to the park You have a great talent and a love for the park I know exactly how u feel keep up the great shows enjoyed every minute thank you I'm retired now I spent 28 days in tamagami boat camping I have the same love for the wild take care I'm glad u are well
Was compelled to rewatch this (for probably the third time) after your show with Dennis. Just a quintessential masterpiece, what more can I say... Even more fun to watch after getting to know you and Scott a bit on Tues. Hope to run into you some day my friend.
Recognized you guys as well at that same spot heading to the Penn - Rock Portage we were just on our way out from doing the Louisa Welcome Loop CCW. It must have been the group ahead of us that said is that the Carolyn Jane since I don't think I sound like that... lol That would have been the Monday you headed in?
Yes! Thanks for watching Christopher. I should have a new one out pretty soon. 7 day fall trip up into Big Trout... just finishing it up and should be out fairly soon.
Great to see you back with another awesome video! Your editing skills are some of the best on UA-cam. Do you even lift canoes bro? Scott without a beard, what is this madness?
Thanks William. I used to use APM music a fair bit but have started to make my own. I used to do electronic music eons ago as Watershell. Now I have some buddies who come over and noodle around with instruments while I record etc. I then take that material and basically run it through effects and build compositions in Pro Tools. I've noticed there are a few pretty good low cost stock music options out there now and I may start to take advantage of them.
another fine video - sure pleasure to watch - hate to sound like a broke record - but wud you mind lettin me know what PFD that you fellas are usin - thanks and take care
Hey. Where did you get the quilt for the bottom of your hammock? I've been using a Hennessey for about 20 years now I think, or close to it! Bubble pad is nice in my jungle edition but that looks amazing! great videos too!
It's a Onetigris or OneTigris... packs up small and gives decent additional warmth. I added clips that line up with the side pull outs on the hammock (and clips at top and tail of course). This keeps it pretty snug but not too tight. I used to use a Thermarest for years which is pretty good but I would always get a bit damp on my back due to sweat / no breathing. The quilt eliminates that.
Another great video. Glad to see you, Carolyn Jane and Scott in the backcountry. I enjoy your cinematography and images. Do you carry a fair number of extra batteries?
In my PFD I carry a knife, whistle, small fire starting kit, waterproof flashlight, watch. The biner and rope are handy for safety, simple lining, tying up on a steep shore... also good in case of a dump / attaching throw rope to free up hands or whatever. On shore I use the biner for attaching food bags on the bear hang.
I'm very happy with the quilt so far. It's very light but adds significant warmth. I had it out on the Spanish River and it got down to -5 one night. My feet were freezing but my core was pretty good. It certainly seems good down to 0 ish depending on your sleeping bag etc.
A couple of questions if you don't mind? Awesome vid as usual and much of the end result is down to some superb editing. Have you used only Go Pro equipment on this and, if so, how do you record sound so well? Also, what editing software are you using? Thanks.
Thanks! I did use the SLR here and there but the Go Pro is getting a fair bit of use... its just so handy and the stabilization is pretty good (although a bit frustrating too.... the latest one looks even better). I have a little plug in mic for the SLR now and it works pretty well and the audio on the GP is way better than it was on my hero3. I also do a fair bit of tweaking after the fact. I cut this one on Avid but my next one I'm using Premiere Pro.
@@JasonIrwinTumblehome Thanks for the info. I use premier pro but need to expand a little more on what it can do as I'm only scratching the surface. I do like it though. Trouble is I have an old Go Pro and a New one and its tough to mix the footage so I might upgrade. Also toying with the idea of a drone.
Yeah I hear ya... drones are so tempting. I'm not sure I'd get enough use to justify the extra weight and $$. :-) ... I probably won't let that stop me though!! @@missinipemagic8951
Another great video, Jason. It's always a treat when you paste a new one. Hope you don't mind that I posted a like to it on the Canoetripping.net website.
When you had to stop talking and got yourself stuck on the rocks there I saw that guy pop out of the Bush behind you guys like where did he come from?! Yeah
Trade You some Trout for Pike lol they are a dime a dozen here in WA behind Chief Joseph Dam no pike and I find them tasty lol oh also will trade 10 rattle snakes for every Garter snake too many of them too.

Chris, you and Jay are among the best editors on youtube :)
Thanks Chris... means a lot from someone of your prowess.
Exceptional as always. Your editing is in a class of its own. That canoe flip crop is pretty neat!
Thank you... Really glad you appreciate the editing.

Great video guys. Never easy to bring all the footage together like that. Definitely motivating many to get out into the outdoors. Something we all need these days.
Thanks Phil! Yes we all collectively could use a good dose of outdoor medicine.
Nice! Good memories from this route. I did this one many years ago when I invited a group of friends. There was talk of mutiny along the way. Lol
I can believe that!
Terrific film! Great sound mixing/editing. Very enjoyable.
Thanks for listening!
Loved the shots from Lake Louisa. Great work.
Thanks Brian. Louisa sure is a pretty lake... wish I'd had more time to explore.
I've been so looking forward to this and you did not disappoint! Looks like you guys had an amazing trip. Nice brookies!
Great to hear from you Larry. Thanks for the kind words. The fish were all Scotts doing as I am basically the worlds worst fisherman :-)
Can't believe I just got around to watching. You have some talent my friend.
Thanks man... I'm catching up myself and looking forward to your hunting vid.
Wow, another great, lovely and funny adventure, and an awesome production, cheeers guys!! :)
thanks!
Great music choices as usual. Nice long video; enjoyed it!.. Loved that flyby.
Thank you!

Fantastic video a pure joy to watch.

Great video! One of my favourite spots in the park.
Thank you. It would have been easier with a lighter boat ;-)
Nice loop, those portages tho 😲filming, editing and photography 👌🏻thanks for sharing
Yeah those portages left me with some issues that took a while to go away :-o but I won't put you off dinner with the details. :-)

Cant wait to watch this later today. Really wish you called it Karma Moose and the Brodemption Trout...

David Groomes wow that is amazing you spent that much time there. Did you have to re supply?
We did Rock, Pen, Clyde May18 - 21st. No bugs but we got slammed with wind/rain. Beats a nice day at work any time, though.
yeah... worst day out there is better than the best day at work

Thank you. Yes, Scott is a chameleon of sorts with the hair program!
Excellent video, as usual. Inspiring. I was wondering what the music is you chose? It’s very cool too
Oh I see it there in the credits.
