Unlike many other animals we don't just drop dead once our physical prime is over and we can't hunt, because we take care of our elders. Women did live beyond menopause, in fact it is considered an evolutionary advantage because we are children of women who did have it. Still, stuff like child deaths and infections are no joke and people did live shorter on average. There weren't as many balding and greying people around as we have today. That doesn't mean the average young person wasn't strong and healthy. To sustain it we obviously need a secure environment and access to food, these two factors even tend to double life expectancy in animals. But it doesn't mean our bodies didn't evolve to do and eat things our ancestors did for hundreds of thousands of years. I detest liver king and I don't practice caveman lifestyle, I just think learning our bodies from an evolutionary perspective is beneficial to improve our life, and many things they did back then are still good for us. I mean even sports and programmed physical activity really replicate what our ancestors did and what our bodies have evolved to do (we just have more efficient tools and we don't take much risks doing these activities like our ancestors had to in order to survive). I'm not talking about competitive sports at pro level, but even your neurosurgeon or cardiologist will tell you it is extreme and not good for most people. Liver king's body is not healthy. But fit and natural people are not doing too many things that go against our evolutionary heritage. We don't have to be fighting buffalos and living in calves to be in harmony with that heritage. This prime/subprime, natural/artificial distinction is nonsense. There is a continuity.

This reminds me of when I worked for a very upscale plastic surgeon's office (in Beverly Hills) for several years and I'd see an unbelievable amount of celebrities, ranging from your D-list influencer to a person who had just won an Oscar award. Women, men, teens... we would see it all. And it would always be so amusing to me when certain celebrities would give interviews acting completely *bewildered* and *offended* at the public's claims that they had gotten plastic surgery done... when I knew they had been in a year earlier for surgical procedures. No matter how simple the topic of his videos are, he always find a way to share his wealth of knowledge. creators (not just bodybuilding/self help) making content with this level of information/synthesis usually never have engaging content but extremely boring and unengaging lessons.
I feel it was more like journalism not dismantling. He gave us all the information while also not tearing liver king down any more than the info was already going to.
Thats why i feel like dismantling is the wrong word, he judt reported the story and added whatever insights he had due to his incredible understanding of the body/hormone/nerotransmitters. Nice to have content about drama that is non-inflammatory. He reflected on whether liver king lying about hormones is ethical or unethical accounting for the good his platform brings the world.
Instead of saying "liver king is a grifter" and leaving, derek provides all info which happens to show that liver king actually believes that his way of life/primal will help people and he's not scamming them.
