  • Weekend Pullmans at Carlisle:
    Midland Pullman &
    Northern Belle.
    And the train to Grain
    27 28 July 24
On Saturday 27th I went out to see the southbound Aviation Fuel Tanks from Prestwick Airport heading from Carlisle Yard (where the two sections from the airport are combined) south towards the Isle of Grain.
We also get a look at a quiet Kingmoor depot.
In the station we see the Midland Pullman train heading for Blackpool via the Settle & Carlisle Line, having started out from Perth.
Then, a few hours later, Tangmere brought in the Northern Belle set on a charter from Coventry. It was almost an hour late from Carnofrth. Not only had the train engine been replaced by Tangmere, as planned, the other diesel needed replacing!
On departure Tangmere slipped before it even started!
I had intended to stay late to see the Pullman return but it'd been a long day so I gave it a miss. However on the Sunday afternoon I went to Springfield to catch the empty stock heading south to Crewe.
The times shown on clips are for guidance only and shouldn't be taken as definitive.
Finally a view of what could be seen at Carlisle Yard.
Any observations are my own and not intended to show any authority and may show my misunderstanding.
