Can wholeheartedly support that claim! At some point into my third month (ketogenic diet, mostly carnivore/PKD style) I started swimming and using the gym, after being a couch potato like forever before. I just had the energy, the stamina, was pain-free (lipedema) and, although not clinically depressed, pretty close prior to starting the ketogenic diet.
FINALLY... 1.5-3.0mmol, someone mentions it. ❤ I first heard this from Dr Palmer & Dr Ede. But had to dig deep for months to find THAT info. Presented nice & neat here. THANK YOU. Sleep, ya I think we all have that issue, due to psyc meds. Its very allusive and I'm looking for sleep. Still tryin every night. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE ❤
@@jan_ellison_baszucki I’m on a purely carnivore diet (my cognition is not conducive to working out a mixed keto diet, prep and macro wise) Yet ketones I cannot get above 2, so this gives me hope Perhaps the quetiapine, albeit a very low dose) is affecting the ketone level. Been (extra) despairing because of my ketone levels. Thanks for all you and your family do 💕
Dr. Sher, so glad I found your next endeavor here. Always appreciated your knowledge and insights. A ketogenic diet is still a major challenge for me. However, a combination of low carb (30-50g/day), 2MAD, and a restricted eating schedule that works for my lifestyle has given me very good results. High satiety breakfast at 7am, skip lunch, then last meal of meat and veg around 5-6pm. My fasting insulin went from 81 to 26 in 4 months.
Thanks for your comment. We have mentioned physiologic insulin resistance or adaptive glucose sparing in some of our videos, but we don't have a dedicated video to it. It makes sense that low glucose and low insulin with evidence of peripheral insulin resistance is a very different physiologic state than high glucose, high insulin, and insulin resistance.
They can be helpful early on to detect if someone is in ketosis or not. But when it comes to a more detailed understanding of the level of ketosis, our opinion is that they aren't as helpful as finger sticks.
For myself and many of my patients just becoming keto adapted leads to much more physical activity.
Thanks for keeping it simple.

When my son finally tapered completely off lithium, his sleep dramatically improved. Being in ketosis is key, just over 1.0mmol.

Fantastic! We are so glad you found a strategy that works well for you.
This is such important information to get out there, thank you Bret for your work in this area.
This is great information in combination to what we've learned about keto diets. Thank you!
Do you have a video on ketone or carnivore or low carb causing insulin resistance? And also maybe a video about severe insulin resistance?

How about Tryptophan? I'm using it and it seems to help but I'm not certain if I should be using it or there are consequences down the line.
Are the urine strips useful for measuring ketones ?
