    I think there is no better example than "Summertime" for this lesson which, a bit like a toolbox, contains, for the duration of a video, everything an instrumentalist who wants to play Jazz, and therefore to improvise, needs to know. I will never be denied the idea that Darren Lloyd is one of the best teachers I have followed so far. 🙏🎺👍

      Thank you Claude, just remember, you can use ANY jazz vocabulary YOU LIKE for these types of practice suggestions! It is endless!

      @@darrenlloydtrumpet It is true that it is endless! That said, the goal is to develop your own vocabulary, your own phrasing, and thus be able to "tell a story" that is consistent with the original theme... If you don't have the basic tools, you can, with tedious work, transcribe the solos of your favorite trumpet players, but it will always be nothing but plagiarism. When I listen to what you do, apart from a few ideas gleaned here and there, I've never heard you cover even a Chet Baker solo, for example... And quite honestly, that's what you bring throughout your classes, throughout your videos. 🙏🎺
