  • Camping in the rain with no tent.
    My building plans on the hobo hut shelter were interrupted by a rogue storm that proved to be a nuisance most of the day. Weather is often unpredictable in the mountains and I learned patience on this trip. I will say though, a nights sleep in the rain is always gold :)
    This was my daughter’s extended birthday weekend on my dads property. FANTASTIC weekend. I stayed an extra day to create this masterpiece ;)
    I know you’re thinking, It’s just rain right?! I had rain gear for myself but was not prepared to protect my recording equipment from the elements. Won’t make that mistake again.
    Thanks as always for the support you guys, we’ll be at it again soon!

      Ryan that’s hilarious, right after I dumped the water off the tarp I said “well that was a waste” I cut it out because I sounded like a tiny child lol..

    Looked like you had a lot of rain. Impressive that you still got so many shots given how bad the conditions were. Good thing you had the tarp! Excited to see where you go with the build. Happy Birthday to your daughter, looked like a fun time!

    Happy birthday to your daughter.
    Cool camp you're building.
    Just don't understand you have built it in a hole where water can run down from three sides. Hope you find a solution so water can run away from the camp.
    Looking forward to the next video.

      Thanks buddy, boogie sends her thanks! What a great weekend 😊 as far as the build goes, there’s not a lot of options in this area. Really steep ridges and not a lot of flat ground. But you’re right though, need to find a way to get water away from the shelter. Take care buddy 🍺

    Bark and pine branch's , sod and leaves if you do it thick enough should keep up the weather. Kind of like a hobbit Hut!

      @laffitteoutdoors  2 роки тому

      Sounds like layers and layers. Hobbit hut it is. You’ve got more experience than me. What type of bark should I use? I want to try to avoid cutting live trees if at all possible.
      On a side note, I still follow you brother. For some reason I don’t get notifications from some of the people I follow. Idk I’ve heard the same from family and friends. Pretty annoying.

      @@laffitteoutdoors ideally sheets of birch bark because it's naturally waterproof but realistically any big chunks of bark from even fallen dead trees if you can get it in pieces to use kind of like those clay layered shingles so to speak basically that's what you would be doing is shingling it.

    Unseasonal rain playing spoil sport. Forest is dry during autumn winter so difficult to make natural weatherproof roof, Maybe few layers of light logs for roofing could help, leaves will dry out so they will not help from dripping water.

      Thanks KD I see so many channels doing it all natural, however I’m not sure I can completely believe what I’m watching lol. I think your strategy is sound. More material seems the way.

    That is not the way to fell a tree. Even if it is a small one you have to cut the notch on the side where you expect it to fall and then do a back cut.

    • @laffitteoutdoors
      @laffitteoutdoors  2 роки тому

      Yes sir Bud! first time not using a chainsaw with a tree this size. It seemed much easier in my head and I thought the original cut would be sufficient. Then I went rouge 💥
