I don't think that Suleiman just adored Hurrem. After she died he told Gülfem about the Colours he felt when He was with Hurrem. After she was gone, all that Colours disappeared.
Also Mahidevran was not interresting for him anymore after he fell for Hürrem. And it seams they were very happy together in Manisa.
Also after he adored the Princess and later Firuze (sorry, Hümeya Hatun) but they left him, his Bond with Hürrem remained strong as before.
It seams for me that Suleiman was a more selfconfident Character, while Ahmed seams to me a bit more self-doupting. Maybe that is because he survived without he wished and acted, just by Chance (or lets say because Dervish loved his Mum) plus he had a really strong Enemy in his Grandmother Safiya Sultan (she had her Fingers into everything and was a Master in Hiding).
Though she should be the most hated Character - she was the most dangerous (for the Dynasty), I feel for her too seeing how she loves her Son aka Iskender. God give her Peace!
I think it's because ahmet really was good at heart, he didn't let the throne, his responsibilities, power and the harshness he had to endure make his heart cold and ugly like suleiman did. Although Suleiman was not bad, he was sometimes cruel...

The Sultan's grief only shows how his heart and love is truly only belong to Kosem. The irony of it is that he died before Kosem, who showed strengh upon his death to protect and save what is left for her to take care of in his place, the kingdom and the fate of their children.

I ask the same question. In one of his conversation with Kosem regarding this, he said that Harem is just part of the rule and he told Kosem that she is not part of the rule. There is another side. One side is is other women but the other side there is only his heart and that it belongs to only her. Still for me in my opinion is not acceptable but it's a custom and tradition in their country. But in later years the Sultan has not wish for other women but only Kosem.
That's is there traditional and also to have more children. But for me I can't stand that if a man love me then it should be only me😃 I'm selfish what is mine is mine 😂

I was watching the show, but I couldn't continue. Too tragic. Ekin Koç is a brilliant actor and this scene is brilliantly filmed. I send this to my friends who are in theater/film production. The scene is tragic but mesmerizing.

I would have got Safiye right there. No judgement, no trial, straight to execution 👿. And I'd be the only one swinging the sword to ensure that her head fell off 👿.
i probably wouldn't handle the deaths of my children, even any political scheming to threaten my children, especially the girls, in this case the sultanas. the heart-breaking of any person can experience is devastating for so many death in the family in any short amount of time, it will break them. this actor shows such emotions that he needs a hug, mainly my mother instinct activated inside me. it was a good tears dripping down. but i couldn't even imagine the possible thought of losing any of my children. yet it will be how life beholds onto us to teach us lessons to bounce back up again the resilience that not many knew that existed in them, but they'll(we'll) survive.

In dramas I notice that the characters in love will do one of two things when they hear the other character is dead. 1. They don't believe it. "Unless I see his/her dead body it's not true! I won't believe it!". 2. They might believe it but they HAVE to see and often have to HAVE possession of the dead body. They also tend to manage their emotions when they are with the dead body and are grieving, but become overwhelmed with extreme expressed emotion when the dead body is taken away from them.

I really appreciate the moment with Mahfiruz… despite the fights in the Harem, and the polygamy…I noticed a lot of the Sultan or other male characters have a favourite and then they try so hard to show the other women as “not important.” It wouldn’t matter if any of them lived or died.
While this helps the original storyline, it also demeans a lot of these women who went through slavery and are fighting to keep their lives and to make sure their children are safe. Whatever Mahfiruz was… it was nice to see him take a moment to kiss her head…she was his “first” consort/concubine and the mother of his oldest child who died protecting her child. Whether the other women in the harem respected her or not, the man should. After all, he was her partner.
I feel very bad for Mafiruz because she died in a tragic way😢

After all she did for him, first as Anastasia then as Kosem, he still betrayed her with her sister.
They are in a harem. He's allowed to have any woman in the harem as he's not married. And Sultan's aren't supposed to be married. Suleiman was the first to break that tradition by marrying Hurrem and dismissing the entire Harem. Kosem ironically enough didn't have a problem with Ahmet being with Gulbahar thus having Bayazid. The only reason Kosem had a problem with Yasmine is because she thought she was being used by her enemies to harm Ahmet. And she ultimately was right.

Because he swore an oath when he became Sultan to never order a member of his family be killed so long as he drew breath. Even though Safiye committed treason, he couldn't bring himself to make her an exception to the promise he made. He couldn't stand how the Ottoman dynasty could casually kill their own family members for power. He especially couldn't bear the idea of having to have Mustafa killed when he himself watched all his older brothers be killed by his father. He swore to put an end to the carnage once and for all.

In reality, safiye sultan did gave the order to kill kosem but bulbul agha secretly stopped the killer and told kosem to run away and saved kosem secretly. So everybody thought kosem was killed. But she took shelter in another place with the princes and sultan's mother. When the sultan went to that place to see the princes and his mother, he saw kosem there too and found out that she is alive.
