I'm in the middle of a study break and decided to watch UoPeople testimonies to motivate myself. :) Great testimony! In the same way, I always wanted the degree I'm pursuing (M.Ed) but I've been a stay at home mom for the past decade and didn't think there was a way....but UoPeople has made it possible! I have learned so much, and the global interaction part of it is awesome. I hope to graduate this year and use my degree in a couple of years when I'm done homeschooling my children.

Madeline, I really relate to your testimony. I wanted to pursue a second degree in Computer Science. But first I am already working and in the start of carreer in early twenties, which means that although I have a reasonable salary I need to save money and I could not afford a new graduation. Besides, I do not have that much time to attend a regular university with classes and I am constantly travelling for work and my work also demands location flexibility. Given these conditions, UoPeople was the perfect choice for me. And I love the mission of it. For me it was not a must, just something I wanted to learn. But for many people this is the only opportunity they have to have a higher education and I find this idea of making knowledge accessible is amazing!

I intend to pursue an education at UoPeople, and see where it goes.
55 years old now, and never had the means or opportunity to pursue a university education. Always working to eke out a living, and couldn't afford to take time off to go to school. How does one go to school AND pay rent, mortgage, Bill's, buy food, etc, without having very deep pockets?
So maybe at 60 I'll have a degree. A little late in life, but better late than never. And maybe it will lead to work that will allow me (potentially) to retire BEFORE I die.
Well... time will tell. Still need to hold down a full time job, putting in 10 to 12 hour days. Not sure how I'm gonna do that.

How many ITT tech "university" disasters must people go through to realize that the ONLY way to go to school is to go to a school that is REGIONALLY ACCREDITED and tested over time. The only reason people choose the easy way and go to a school that registeres anyone that breaths is the FACT that these people are lazy and do not want to do any REAL work. Is it a place of learning, and higher education that you would normally get in a University, with University level studies? Yes? Yes, it is, therefore it is a "school." What do you suggest we call it, a "learning center"? Again, wouldn't that be a "school", technically? Again, yes, a learning center is a "school." So calling University of the People IS a school, although you might be too snobby to go there. For some of us, it is the perfect solution to a tight money situation. I want to congratulate University of the People for being innovative and on the cutting edge of education. As Shai says, education should be a universal right. Someday it will be. Please stop putting University of the People down just because you disagree with it's teaching model. It may not be for you, but that is no reason to hate.
