No a whole lot of fluff, just straight to the point, which is great! Very clear and very effective in helping me to learn the material. Well done Anne!

Just curious can we use this genetic engineering theory in curing cancerous cell?
For example, DNA A + DNA B = Recombinant DNA
In this case, we can apply the concept whereby DNA of cancerous cell + DNA of Normal cell = Recombinant of DNA (Normal cell)
we can find the restriction enzymes in cutting the DNA of cancerous cell, let assume DNA of cancerous cell is C1CTGG
    GGACC
If the cancerous cell is due to C1 malfunction, then we can use restriction enzymes in cutting the restriction site of DNA of cancerous cell.
Then it will became sticky end whereby C1 is being cut. Then we can add back DNA fragment of normal cell from other/own sources and cutting the restriction site of normal cell by using same restrictions enzymes.
Eventually 2 fragments stick together by complimentary base pairing via ligase to glue them back and give you the recombinant DNA (Normal cell)
    Thank you.

What a great question and potential application! One thing to consider is that cancer cells result from an accumulation of mutations in tumor-suppressor genes and proto-oncogenes, so gene therapy would have to target multiple DNA errors in the cancer cell and all of its progeny. Such a strategy may be in development - I'm not sure. I do know that genetic engineering is used in cancer treatment to produce antibodies and vaccines that better target antigens of cancer cells.

Would the second part, using bacterial cells be "gene therapy" ?
