I'm going through it right now and getting frustrated with work. I work in a casino and its really really hard to communicate and when I tell people I can't hear on one ear some are so judgemental and some are kind. Watching your video made me feel comfortable and embrace my disability. Knowing that I'm not alone and cope with my situation so I thank you so much for doing this video.
Sorry to read that you're having a difficult time. Be proud of yourself for continuing your work and doing the best you can, even when not everyone is open minded and nice to you. You're not the only one going through this and if there's anything else we can do to help let us know. All the best!
I'm so sorry you went through this. I experienced this back in 2013-2014 and my hearing has been replaced with constant tinnitus every since. It was really hard because at the time I was in the Navy onboard a ship and losing my hearing took my confidence away. Several years later I'm still trying to adapt to this and it really takes a long time to reintegrate back into social situations. Keep your head up and embrace this as much as possible, I had to do that in order to get my confidence back and start to live my life again. I'm actually going to start learning ASL so I can communicate better should the unforseen happen to my good ear.
I’m sorry you are going through this… I lost my hearing overnight in 2005 but was misdiagnosed as well. It took 3 years to finally get my proper diagnosis which was a brain tumor unfortunately. I had an Acoustic Neuroma. I am completely deaf on my left side. I can tell you someday it gets a little better but you will always not be able to tell direction sounds and the more background noise the harder you will have with understanding voices. I have a BAHA made by cochlear but I hardly use it but I’m at home disable from a spinal cord injury. With your balance issues be cautious as you will loose your balance more often and that is how I broke my neck. Good luck on your journey!
Hi Aaron. We're sorry to hear this has happened to you this morning. How are you doing now? If you need to talk, or want us to put you in touch with someone who can help, please email us at team@tapmedia.uk. Thanks and all the best
in 2007 i picked up my office phone to my right ear. it sounded all buzzy i thought something was wrong with the phone. i put it to my left and could hear fine. i went from normal to low distorted hearing overnight. several years later i went to an ent who ran some tests and thought his reading found and acoustic neuroma. i was ordered to get an mri and they found a meningioma and an arachnoid cyst. im now losing hearing in my left side too.
Hi there. If you're able to, it's probably best to go and see a specialist as soon as you can so that you have a better idea of what's going on. Best of luck!
happened to me too, I was watching a movie one night, fell asleep and I woke up 100% deaf in my right ear with tinnitus. The Doctors couldn't find anything wrong said a virus or something could have taken it and that I might never know the cause.
Hi Brad, very sorry to hear you've been through the same thing. We've linked the channels of some hard of hearing creators here on UA-cam that Issa recommends in the bio of this video - they've helped her a lot, have a look, maybe they can help you too. Thanks for sharing and if you ever need to reach out for support please do and we'll do everything we can to help.
9:34 i'm 17 too and i have a very different illness, not an infection, in my urinary system. i have been complaining about to doctors since day one, and they just dismissed everything i said because they think the only illness that can happen to the urinary system is a UTI, and if i don't have that, then i have nothing. total douchbags! the thing is, i know what cause my illness. i handed them the cause and told them about every symptom, and none of the symptoms were of a UTI. but those morons just ignored me. my symptoms are still here. i have complications from the illness now, i've got proteinuria. had i been diagnosed and treated earlier when my illness was acute, i could've fully recovered. but no, those douchebags are letting me suffer. i'm supposed to be in college now, but because of my illness (which is still undiagnosed, and the treatment options i researched about don't do much and are expensive) i'm medically UNFIT for college ( when i gave out a urine sample for that medical examination they found a trace of protein.. and i've been seeing bubbles in my urine since the third month of my illness). i'm also medically unfit for any type of job. the symptoms which i'm not comfortable talking about are humiliating and they are going to make it difficult for me to do anything. i went throught the last year of highschool with my illness just fine because the symptoms weren't as intense and i didn't' have such kidney pain so often. thank you doctors so much. my kidneys are hurting as i speak because they're getting damaged more and more. i am probably suffering from serious deficiencies. and soon, i'll be seeing swollen limbs and looking at my burial options. the cause of my illness only makes one illness and they should know it, like how stupid are they. the first doctor i've ever visted, just told me drink water. so, was i drinking air this whole time? what morons they are real snobs you know. the worst thing is i've paid a lot of money to see all these doctors from all over the country. i hope those doctors get sick from each illness they dismissed
what am i doing now? my parents are broke and they can't afford any more doctor visits. but i know for sure (through online research) that my symptoms are gonna be with me my whole life, i can only get treated by catheters or a nephrostomy to stop the complications, but is this a life to look up to? for her case, it's reasonable that it took so long to get a diagnosis and proper treatment or management of the disease. but, in my case, it's not at all. I LITERALLY TOLD THEM THE CAUSE which is pretty rough. but i hope nobody gets my disease. i have to tell the full story, but i won't say the symptoms because i'm tired of telling it to every douchebag i pay to consult in hospitals: it was the evening of two days before my last year of highschool begins. my sleep time was so messy, as i often pulled all nighters to manually kill mosquitoes and other insects i do not identify. why didn't i use a pesticide? because my mom wouldn't let me buy it. why were there mosquitoes and millions of insects in my flat which is in a desert country with barely any nature? because my bathroom's ceiling caved in (i live in the ground floor) and pipes from above leaked dirty sewage water just before my toilet seat. while i had never opened a window in this damned flat, my mother does and they get in the bathroom when i open the door. they breed there among other insects and flies and multiply largely. to deal with this amount of insects in my bathroom, and the ceiling leakage before my toilet seat, i only used the toilet once a day, in the morning after i drink a plenty of water. but, in that specific evening, my mom ordered a pizza after i had had my dinner, and when i ate that salty pizza, i had to drink water. so, i drank water. and when i was getting ready to sleep, i felt the urge to urinate. so, i went to the bathroom, and all i could breathe was mosquitoes. and that damn ceiling RAINED that filthy water. there was no way i could make it to the toilet. i waited another 5 min before i check the bathroom to find the ceiling leaking at a worse rate. and i needed to sleep in time to fix my sleep schedule, because i wanted to start that important school year energetically, so i decided to wait till morning to go to the toilet, because the insects will be less active at least, and maybe the ceiling wouldn't be so bad by then. i slept and ignored that i had to go to the toilet. i woke up the next morning with the symptoms that i have 24/7 ever since that time. I TOLD ALL THE DOCTORS I VISTED ABOUT THIS CAUSE, but all they did was have me do a urine sample that will always come negative for bacteria and they would dismiss me, at the same time, it would always come with a trace of protein, and they wouldn't even address that.. i hope they all die. i hope they get sick with a humiliating illness like mine. i hope their young kids sufffer from it as well and be stuck in limbo like me ...but for you innocent and hardworking people i give you the moral of my story: never delay natures call. ever. also, if your home has a ceiling problem that the landlord won't fix and an insect problem that your mom doesn't care about, call 911 (any emergency number to get the help you need)! it really sucks that i'm stuck here with this exhausting kidney pain. i should be at college right now! despite my illnesss, i worked hard during my last year of highschool and got 99.1% cgpa. look at that wasted potential this is what doctors do, they waste potentials, they thrive on your agony. most of them are bastards who don't give a sh*t about your health. they all should get karma
How are you doing now? I lost most of my hearing in my left ear over a year ago. I still don’t know why but I am in my early forties and it has been quite difficult adjusting. People will never understand until they go through it themselves. I can say that I have definitely taken my hearing for granted over the years and had no idea how difficult it can be when you lose hearing especially in one ear only because you really rely on both ears working together. I can no longer tell which direction sound is coming from and I also find it very difficult to hear people in loud area with a lot of people talking. My balance is off and I sometimes find it difficult to talk also.
Weird I learned Cued Speech (Cued Language Transliteration) and a few years later I talked with hearing friends but I'd never seen those deaf people with ASL before.
How about we take healthcare company CEO/executive pay and bonuses and use it to train nurses and doctors better, so they don't stop messing up so much. The healthcare system in this country is absolutely disgusting.
hey so im scared i might be deaf in my left ear and that my doctor diagnosed me wrongly. i told the doctor that my left ear feels clogged and that i cant hear well. i didnt hear ringing and i didn't really have any pain. my doctor said that i just have an ear infection and they gave me antibiotics and said i have to take them for 10 days, but im scared that after those 10 days, im still not gonna be able to hear that good :( not to mention that i went to a urgent care i've never been to before and i doctor that i've never met before..so far its been 2 days taking the medicine. wish me luck
Hi Annabelle. So sorry that you're having a stressful time. It is of course normal to feel worried, although just because this happened to Issa doesn't necessarily mean it will happen to you. But, you know yourself best and even if the doctor is right and you do just have an ear infection, if it's worrying you this much maybe it's a good idea to get a second opinion, even if it's just for peace of mind. If you can't get one and the antibiotics still don't help after 10 days, go back in and re-evaluate with your doctor. Good luck, let us know how it goes!!
