T1 = OWL
T2 = Contenders AND Contenders Trials
T3 = Any team who has placed Top 16 in OD
T4 = Any other 'high sr' (generally translates to 4.3k+) team who participates in OD
T5 (not a very used term) = Teams 4.2k and below who play in OD/other tournaments

Tier 3 is generally defined as Top 12(?I think) of OD. The teams there are actually all quite good and many of them might have the potential to get into contenders trials. Most of them have SR averages (Scrim wise) of 4.4-4.5K. Even though many talented players, who want to be picked up for contenders teams, try to team hop on many different 'known' rosters (You wouldn't really know any of theese teams really, unless involved with the scene and as there are no broadcasts of OD that is kinda hard). The purpose of that is to achieve OD Top positions on many different rosters, so they can LFT with more experienece and references (for trials or contenders roisters)

@@rawsaucerobert I think, as he said he didn't really find a definiion for tier 3 that's why he was confused. Thing is some of the rosters in this vid are even contenders teams, which makes this much more absurd than it already is, some probably are also very much lower in level
Tier 3 is Open Division - Top 16
Tier 2 is Contenders
Tier 1 is OWL
Tier 5 is Top 500 - place ~250 or 200 upwards
Tier 4 is Academy
Open division is bullshit you can compete in it even if u are PLAT wtf is wrong with this game

The thing I love about collegiate NA overwatch is that a certain university that wants to put up a roster basically starts with an open tryout for their students and many of them end up having a mix of GM all the way down to silver players sometimes. Some universities like maryville have an actual plan for their team and give scholarships to actual GM players, but once I rang for northwestern and they had played against another team in Tespa that had one of those mixed SR rosters and it was wild

as someone who *actually* hit Tier 3, it's the Top 16 teams in Open Division, not just "anything below contenders". Open Division consists of GMs fighting plats, not actual Tier 3.

Hi Ja Wid, I would like to clarify that the clip taken at 10:05 was from the Overwatch ACE 2020, which is in fact the tier 2 competition for the Pacific Region. This was Blizzard's replacement for Pacific Contenders with a 100k USD prize pool, thus I would not consider it a T3 competition as even the winner of the region, A Bang got an invite to the Asia Gauntlet.
I know you including this clip was not an intention to mock the level of play in the Pacific Region so I have no problem with it's inclusion and theres no need to remove it but I would just like to inform you on this matter to spread awareness. Thank you.

I mean typically speaking, Tier 3 is top of OD, so the teams just not good enough to be in contenders(Tier 2). Below that is _sort of_ tier 3 in that they can compete against good t3 teams, but it doesnt really mean anything that youre allowed to get stomped by a somewhat good team.

Tier 3 is mostly referred to as the top 32 teams in Open Division along with teams who have proven that they can compete with other Tier 3 teams in tournaments. It should not be referred to as the entirety of Open Division or the amateur scene.

Last I checked it was 2600, which is plat.
