Super Contra, known as Super Contra: The Alien Strikes Back in Japan and Probotector II: Return of the Evil Forces in Europe, is a run and gun video game by Konami, originally released as a coin-operated arcade video game in December 1987. It is the sequel to the original Contra and part of the Contra series. The game stars Bill Rizer and Lance Bean as they are sent to thwart another alien invasion from the vicious Red Falcon.
It was ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System under the shortened title of Super C in North America and as Probotector II: Return of the Evil Forces in Europe. Both the arcade version and the NES version have been re-released for various other platforms since their original releases.

Wow they really pulled out all the stops with this one! Stunning pixel art, killer soundtrack. I remember playing this when I was a kid, but I didn’t appreciate how technically incredible it was.
That was the first Contra Game I ever had. Man. I never had one when I was little. But now on switch and it’s collection bundle and such I have over a dozen. Even Japanese Versions
Loved and ended the game with my cousin on the NES. Good old days😊
The most underrated Contra,most people just keep remake the first one but not this one.
I absolutely love everything about this sequel of a game. Super C had a great soundtrack, badass boss designs (especially at Area 7), & some of the weapons like the Flame Thrower (F) gets a massive improvement compared to the one in Contra. The only downside is that the barrier (B) you would collect in Area 3 during the earthquake sequence doesn't last very long, but that's about it. This game still holds up today, & one of my childhood favorites.

Also I love the switch from side scrolling to top down like in Salamander/LifeForce. It's a bit of a proto Contra III in some places.
