My brother and I helped a landowner with his beaver problem last year. He had 4 small, shallow ponds on the property. We ran 2 dozen Duke #330s and a few #280s for 6 weeks beginning in January. We took 52 beaver, many over 50 pounds, from the property in that time. We don't have a spring season here even though we can trap beaver year round (but can only sell the pelts if taken during the legal fur bearer season). We are trapping there again this year and are seeing a lot of damage to timber. They are somewhat conibear shy but we are still having some success.
Thanks for sharing, I appreciate your ethical trapping style, as the tables turn, the furs may no be worth much, but the spring castors are often double in size and worth big bucks!
@@330Maniac ah perfect ! Ok I assumed it was fur related but honestly hadn’t heard too much about beaver pelts being used much. Thanks for taking the time.
I GOT AN HOA W POND AND HAVE SEEN A BEAVER AND WANT IT GONE CUZ BUSHES HAVE BEEN CHEWED ON......I WRECKED A HOUSE A YEAR AGO AND IVE SEEN EVIDENCE OF HIS TRAVEL.....I THINK THE LAKE IS HIS LIL SECRET BUT IDK...IF U GOT A SUGGESTION ILL LISTEN...LOL
The price doesn't drop until the ponds have been open for a few weeks. Then they start to bite each other and rub their fur off. These are fully prime still
How in the hell do you set your 330's with your bare hands? I'm a pretty big guy, I use setters and it's still a massive battle. Those spring must not be as tight as mine!
Actually I have videos of me pulling brand new traps right out the box and setting them by hand. I use victors, bridger, dukes and a lot of belisle. Lots of people ask how i do it this way. I been doing it the same since I was 16. Honestly it's not to hard when you get the proper leverage on the springs. Lots of practice.
Not too often you see trappers set 330's with there hands, impressive!
Iceout 1 Thank you!

I enjoy hunting ... legitimate question ... what do you do with beavers?
Sell them. Also eat some
@@330Maniac what do the people you sell it to do with them ?
@@HeliEnthusiast They sell them to someone else. Then eventually they are used for making clothing and many other things

+330MaNiaC Can you use a Bridger #3 vs a #5 for beaver? Or is it too small?
Too s in my opinion. You can make a front foot catch and drown them tho

When you trap these beavers, do they die instantly?
Doesn't the price for the pelts drop with Spring Beavers? How come you don't wait to trap them in the Winter?
