The current Germany youth development system is actually very much based on the East German model created by Matthias Sammer in 2006. And without a doubt it has been very successful as it helped create the generation that won the World Cup in 2014. Btw I'm loving these football videos. Keep up the great content.
Robert Enke, definetily an East-German who wasnt the best but deserves some recognition. Heard of him in the Leno video and he popped up as an east-german footballer. So I'm giving him a shout.
Wow, what a great video! As a life long BVB fan, Sammer has to be my favourite East German. But it’s great to see players like Ulf Kirsten and Bernd Schneider getting some recognition. Great players. I had a soft spot for that early 2000s Leverkusen team. And I honestly had no idea that Toni Kroos was East German! Keep up the good work!
I would've also included Carsten Jancker who had a great spell with Bayern Munich winning the Champions League and also played for the runner-up Germany team in the 2002 World Cup.
Really interesting and informative mate. I'm doing a German speaking exam on the influence of reunification on football and will definitely be including some of this info! Keep it up.
The Easts team was Professional in all but name, like all Eastern Bloc States, Athletes were State Sponsored Athletes, while they werent great at Full International Level, they had a decent side at Olympic Level... There was so much hunger a post-1974 rematch, but apparantly the East German Government would not entertain the idea, as they wanted to keep hold of there '100%' record against the West
I think events like the Munich Disaster and LaMia flight crash of Chapecoense need to be remembered. I know they are dark topics but many are unaware of them and I feel that they need to be paid extra respect yk.
Fantastic to see a fellow Coldplay lover in here. Not only are u a fellow Coldplay fan but also a big football history fan by the sounds of it. Respect to you man!
@@orlandotrustfullandhiscosm4110 thanks man, yea Coldplay are my fav artists especially the pfp album. And yes, i bleed football even if I cant rly play it 😅 Respect to u too
What a Zidane flex this video is LMAO considering he was responsible for their unluckiness in that game with possibly the most beautiful volley in champions league history LOL
Oh my Gaad. Fiago replied me well I have my reason remove the fact that he is unlucky but he did reach a lot of finals despite not winning it one of my reasons.
I don’t know why this is being recommended to me, the algorithm is a mystery. but it’s a decent video which I enjoyed so no complaints as I’m a big football fan. The background history part was pretty shit, for example the GDR was actually democratic in its own way but I’d just be one man shouting into the void so il let it slide.
Learning history with Fiago😂 more fun than my history teacher
History can be fun 😂👊

One of the best informative football videos I have ever watched 👏
Appreciate it man!

That was an amazing video, I'm astonished by how well Fiago is doing on UA-cam, considering he started in Instagram
Thanks bro! Will try to keep it up

He‘s definitely Top 10 too!

Glad to hear I could help out!
so east germany was a dictatorship, now i know how fiago got the inspiration to how to control his flick chat
Really interesting topic
Am I the only one who enjoys listening to Fiago while he is saying German words?😅😅
Possibly 😂
Anyone ever heard of that bald guy next to Schneider?
Not me
I tried to Reverse Search him, still no results
lol
I’m supposed to be reading history but I decided to watch it 😎
Here before fiago buys toni for the HSV career mode
Good one👏👏
Thanks bro!
The anthem of DDR was dope 😂
Auferstanden aus Ruinen!
For real 😂
@@Fiago it doesn't have references to communism so i don't get why germany don't use it
Can you make a video about thé BeNeliga
Noted ✅
What about these 3 players?
GK: Jürgen Croy
LW: Eberhard Vogel
SW: Hans-Jurgen Dorner
"not that random bald lad on the left" lololol
1:11 And Sudan and Ireland
That's right actually. And Congo & China basically.
@@Fiago Yeah, those too, I had forgotten about it. And Cyprus too btw
I'm not that interested in history, but this was very interesting and informative

Fiago has taught me more history than my school has in 5 years lol
Glad to hear 😂
One other former East German legend, who won the 1997 champions league title with Dortmund is Steffen Freund
I was your 10 000 th subscriber :):):) congrats man!
Thanks Isak means a lot!!
i loved Andreas Thom who played for my team celtic

Leverkusen love the East Germans 😂
Definitely 😂
Kypros a Greek island is also split between Greek Cyprus and turkey cyprus and they have their own leagues as well
Would you make a video about that or not (I mean you have a lot subscribers from Greece)
Yep that‘s a very sad topic too...Cyprus is Greek.
Are you gonna talk about it in one of your videos or no (I know it won't be a successful video just asking🤷♂️)
@@Fiago But Greeks decided to kill the Turks in Cyprus
That is why Turkey invaded Cyprus
@@robinberkealmasulu5894 actually greece which was in dictatorship wanted to unify greek and cyprus into one state.that's why turks invaded
What I learned from this video is that Leverkusen is probably one of the best if not the best club in the world in making world class players
Andy Thom as he played for Celtic and scored against Rangers
Sparwasser and the ginger fella at Dortmund...
Toni Kroos was the only East German in 2014?
technically they both won in my opinion
In the history part you see who is from NRW and saying that everything about living in GDR was shit
I am from NRW but have to say that it's one of the most messed up states nowadays lol
Tony Kroos is from the eastern part ☺️☺️
What a Zidane flex this video is LMAO considering he was responsible for their unluckiness in that game with possibly the most beautiful volley in champions league history LOL
7 Best west German players please.
why don't u start a ucl tournament with HSV
How on earth matthias sammer is not included in this video fiago. I mean he is a baloon dor winner
Wish Germany would have won in 94 instead of 90
He's not any random guy on the left.
Respect him....😂
That was the joke...lol
Ballack is the best East German player the only thing Toni will exceed Ballack is because of trophies.
Interesting. Why do you think Ballack was better?
Oh my Gaad. Fiago replied me well I have my reason remove the fact that he is unlucky but he did reach a lot of finals despite not winning it one of my reasons.
Love from Greece 🇬🇷👊
Capitalism and democracy😂
fr lmao
Vizekusen😂

Are you east or west German Fiago
West German
@@Fiago that is cool
If people actually don't know what West and East Germany is, I don't know what the world has come to
I think most non-Germans actually don't 😅
@@Fiago you haven't seen r/historymemes then 😂
It’s just like me here with Taiwan and China
But not quite
Is FC Berlin an east german club?
I think you mean the current Berlin Bundesliga clubs? Hertha BSC is a West German club. Union Berlin is an East German Club.
@@Fiago yes thank you😁😁 nice video this type of content always makes for a good watch
very loaded and bias language when describing the difference between east and west germany
