    I love how convoluted this is. There is no practical reason for any of this and yet it's right up my alley lol.

      Indeed, the impracticality is part of the fun 😺

    I am not someone who had the attention span to be able to code, but I find just about every aspect of this topic fascinating. It's really neat, the way that language functions within this realm, and that that language can be boiled down to 0's and 1's. My perceptions go to the philosophical as regards this topic; it's cool to see it dealt with as a practicality. Great stuff Amanda.

      Thanks! And I quite like the philosophical side of programming languages along with the practical 😺

    For some reason, I still have a fondness for the TRS-80 Model I Level II Basic OS from back in '78. But that is also when I had my two cats, Sputnik and Little Bigger (aka "Bug"). Any time you have cats and computers, it's GOTTA be good: Right? Especially TWO cats

      We have two cats and computers here, so we wholeheartedly agree 😻

    Very cool, thanks for sharing! I diy’d a esp modem but getting some strange characters, I think the com speed is too high at 9600, so I will try 300. Great tutorial ❤

      You're welcome 😺 And yes, that mirrors my own experience at 9600 - it would drop bits leading to strange characters. 300 was definitely the most reliable setting.

    Absolutely awesome job with your video! I have been able to get my WIFI device to work on my Model 100 and 102 but it won't work on my Model 200. Is there something special I need to do on the Model 200? I use STAT 38N1ENN but when I go into TERM mode, the computer just locks up and I need to RESET. I've tried resetting the WIFI modem and everything else I can think of. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

      Thank you so much! Unfortunately, I'm not sure what specifically would be going on the Model 200. I'm guessing it has different serial port hardware and drivers,. One thing to try is toggling XON/XOFF between disabled, software and hardware on the modem and see what happens.

    Can one set up a local FTP server on a home PC to serve as a wireless file server for the Model 100?

    • @CatSynthTV
      @CatSynthTV  6 місяців тому

      Setting up a local FTP server on a PC isn't difficult, but one would also need an FTP Client on the Model 100 that could speak to the serial port. It sounds doable, but I haven't seen it yet. I think the best bet is a TPDD (model 100 hard drive) server connected via wireless.

      @@CatSynthTV I have a prototype of a device that via wifi connects my Model 100 to Drop Box to upload and download files. Is that FTP client?

    • @CatSynthTV
      @CatSynthTV  5 місяців тому +1

      That’s more likely a TPDD server.

    Ah... ATDT command. in 1996 a 56Kbps modem is a blazing top speed you can get

      Yes, I remember it. Also did tricks to auto-dial from my LAN when I requested an outside server. Fun and made it feel like a real computer lab at home even with the slow speeds.
