- Today we sin half a movie. Or... what should have been half a movie. It's safe to say we're tiring of this series at this point.
Thursday: Guess what!
Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

A sin to CinemaSins for not calling the Peacekeepers "discount Stormtroopers"
He already made that joke in the first Hunger Games sins video.
@@foooooooooooooooooooooooooooox He needs to make it every video......
Adding two more for Sins not being to come up with that one himself. Although, the Peacekeepers CAN hit their targets - so they're marginally better than Stormtroopers in that regard.
This is really bothering me. The Capitol does know District 13 is there. They went to war with them 76 years ago but lost because District 13 made nukes and threatened to use them on the Capitol. The Capitol made a deal with District 13 that they would leave them alone. They told the rest of the districts that District 13 was gone.
Kept watching. Really, a necklace of rope doesn't make sense in a song about a hanging tree? Seems like you've forgotten what a noose is. Necklace of hope makes no sense.
I think this wasn't said in the movie (it would explain the sin), but I may have remembered it the wrong way. On the other hand it was clearly written in the book that Capitol knows about District 13 and that they wouldn't war with them since they had nukes, Capitol would fire nukes and there would probably be no one left. Hanging tree song gives also some depth to the character in the book, while it does basically nothing in the movie.
Its so cute that you care about the plot of this movie you are cute
+Jonsitoa ???
"Those who think we don't read the books are going to be REALLY pissed off when they find out that we read the books. The books do not f*cking matter."
They did a poor job of translating Peeta's significance to the screen, cause generally people don't tend to view his abilities as important when compared to someone like Gale, with his more physical attributes. The Hunger Games is pretty heavy on the politics of war and in that sense, Peeta has more value than Gale. Katniss' drive to see that Peeta survives is because she views him as a far superior person to her. That also wasn't adapted well unfortunately.
Athelas
Exactly
YES! There are good fighters everywhere, but charismatic politicians that can move people with their actions and words are harder to find and train
That already made the story way more interesting
Also she feels trapped in a never-ending cycle of owing Peeta. First the bread, then the star-crossed lover thing. The fact that Haymitch chose to focus on her survival in the first game. Katniss and Haymitch made a deal to protect Peeta in the second game to compensate for that and they still failed. No wonder he becomes her priority.
I thought the suicide mission scene on the dam was going to earn a sin off of the movie, because that scene really gave me the chills. It was such a symbolic scene and it showed how small Katniss really was in the rebellion, and how many people died for their freedom.
It actually showed how powerful Katniss could be, and her importance. Everything she does causes ripples and fires.
Watching that scene in the cold cinema was a vibe 😂 I really felt like I was in the dam with them. What a powerful moment
I googled "Do cats eat corpses".
Turns out they will after one or two days, it's called Postmortem Predation.
AJinougaDoesAThing ForSomeReason I guess you can't just call it scavenging because humans are special?
@@Primalxbeast I still call it scavengers
I've met people how use that as a "cats are evil" argument, which pisses me of because dogs do it to, as would every other carnivore or omnivore if the person feeding them died and became the only source of food.
+Awesinecat24 I've heard people use it in the 'dogs are evil' argument as well, where it is equally stupid. Heck even humans have been known to eat corpses if there was no other food available and they got desperate.
So Pop will eat itself.
This a huge part they left out of the movie, The Capitol knows where 13 is. They told the districts it was it was defeated, but it wasnt. They used recycled footage to show them it. 13 is underground. So 5 sins for not including that huge part of the plot.
Nya Watkins the books don't matter *ding*
Der Große Belerofon they kind of do, DING!
DMR Films no they don’t, ding, it’s a review of the movie, ding
Y'all stupid because all he was saying is that the movie deserves more sins for not including an integral part of the plot but go off I guess
Any plot that isnt in the movie isn't part of the plot.
Katniss is the face of the revolution but Peeta was the VOICE that’s why he’s so important!!!!! he had charisma and charm ppl would follow him

Hey, I read the books. Indeed 80% of the sins could be removed, but this is CinemaSins not BookSins.
Edit: Wow this comment really turned into a battlefield. Fair play guys.
Ya only tru fans understand
80% of these sins could be removed if they even paid attention to the movies, or even just remembered that it *is* based on a book and things exist outside of cinema. Why would you think "Castor and Pollux" means the screenwriter was a fan of Face Off? They didn't come up with those names, and those names are also literally from a famous roman myth.
Plus, half the time he'll ask or imply a question and the answer to it will literally be "yes"
@@airierwitch4116 wow, people in 2020 who takes this videos waay to seriously. Books do not matter here, and this vids are for entertaining purposes.
All of you, the books DO matter. And second, Cinemasins is not satire, even though they try to portray themselves like that.
Yes but you have to remember that this is focused on the movie. The movie should tell you everything you need to know. While I have read the books and understand the movie because of it, that’s not the point. The movie should, at most, have a few things only the readers understand, but still make sense in the movie.

The reason Katniss said “Peeta was supposed to be the one that lived!” is because all during the first games they were in, Haymitch kept sending her parachutes, not Peeta, and those games the goal was to keep Katniss alive. Now it was basically Peeta’s turn. Plus, Katniss loves him! ❤️
2:00 - she made a deal with Haymitch to make sure Peeta survived, they kinda made a big thing about it in the previous film, so yeah
yeah, but why? why is he so important?
Nándor Fekete Though they fail to do Peeta justice in the film, in the books he’s one of the strongest, bravest and most outspoken characters. He has a natural gift for saying things that truly move people which would make him a tremendous leader. In fact in Catching Fire Katniss even says she could see him being some kind of being some kind of government official because of his talents.

She volunteered for her sister that was 12 years old and had no chance of winning. I wouldn’t call that a choice.
What she meant by that was that she never wanted the games to be a thing so she wouldn't have had to volunteer for Prim
Well technically she didn't ask.
She simply said "I volunteer as tribute."
Not, "Can I volunteer as Tribute?"
Still funny how he pointed it out.
3:15 "Is a braid, one of the most common hairstyles in world history, only associated with Katniss now?"
You could say the same about the swastika which was common in Asia before the Nazis began using it.
Except that one is a random hairstyle that some important person decided to have that day, the other is symbol with specific angles, colors, and positioning. You don't see people copying Hitlers hairstyle to support him. I would understand the braid thing more if it was more specific.
the Asian symbol isn't the same as the swastika bruh
Not in Asia but in the Hindu Religion
The swastika is a mirrored version of a symbol called the sun cross. The sun cross was very popular in medieval Europe and onwards. You'll find it in quite a few old paintings. However you won't find it anywhere in modern day, cause, you know, Nazis are horrible.

10:01 The “necklace of rope” *does* make sense in the context of a song about a hanging tree, actually. It’s referring to a noose.
Yes, we all got that. Changing it to a necklace of hope is the part that makes no sense
Maybe movie censorship?
@@andreasanchez1453 Even if that was the case, it would still not make any sense considering the fact that the series literally talks about uprising against a cruel and uncaring government who forces 24 of its kids to kill each other every year, a reality lots of people actually face. Not to mention that the film is rated PG-13, is based on a novel series made for more mature audience and that Katniss actually sings “a necklace of rope” in the actual book. I know the change makes sense in the context of the movie because of the rebellion, but it doesn’t make sense in the context of the actual song.
I can't believe that 134 people have "liked" this.
He was obviously referring to the "necklace of hope" not making sense.
@@franzroth2830 I'm way late, but the song she sings have basically been all but outlawed, since they were heavily used as the Covey. The original lyrics had mostly been lost and Katniss really only heard the song once, when she was a kid. It makes sense that the lyrics slowly changed from rope to hope, especially considering that Lucy Gray sang the song originally and created the Snow we get in the movies, whereas Katniss creates the hope for a life outside of the games Snow has designed.
I wish they had contextualized more how pivotal Peeta was to earning the trust, the love, and the support of the capital people. Ultimately, Katniss was unlikeable without Peeta. Haymitch said from the get that he was playing the game from the moment the train arrived in the capitol. Everyone loved him. He may not have been seen as much of a revolutionary as Katniss but he was definitely important to the public.

I think the biggest sin of this movie is that they turned what was originally a relatively unique and thrilling premise of the first two films into a boring and tired revolution/rebellion plot line that makes the whole thing just dull as dishwater. Should've just packed everything they had into a third GOOD movie and end it there.
Michael Snow I'm fine with a Rebellion, but it would make more sense to have it have something to actually do with the Hunger Games maybe? I mean Catching Fire did... something along those lines with the lighting thing. Maybe give 'em a taste of their own medicine? I would LOVE to see Snow as a participant. 😈
+Marshadow the Magical "Maybe give 'em a taste of their own medicine? I would LOVE to see Snow as a participant."
And that is why you are just like Snow. But granted, you would fit in well in those obnoxious YA fails.
I remember when Catching Fire came out. While well liked in general, it was slammed because there was nothing new, just more Hunger Games...
Mon Mothma, wow, isn't that the point of a series titled "hunger games" TO HAVE THE HUNGER GAMES? People COMPLAIN NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO.
The Hunger Games series are book-to movie films. So the books were written long before the movies, so no, they couldn’t change the movies xD
Quick thing though: Katniss wanted Peeta to be the leader of the revolution bc he could “turn his pain into words that change the people”. She felt that she was worth more as a martyr because she didn’t have the same way with words as Peeta, which Coin is aware of, so it makes sense that both her and Coin wanted Peeta alive.
Also, the Capitol didn’t bomb the last two houses because otherwise, Katniss wouldn’t have been able to find that rose which is meant to emotionally destabilize her as she’s the face of the revolution.

@@devdixit2440 yeah because in the books, katniss says necklace of *rope* like in the actual song. Even if it was for censorship, it wouldn’t make sense at all given that the whole message of the series is about rising up against oppression while not becoming the oppressor and saving everyone’s future rather than avenging personal history.

Actually, I think I can explain why her house was still intact. After the first Hunger Games, Katniss went to live in the Victor's Village. Destroying the Victors Village would do nothing, seeing as there were only 2 people that stayed there: Katniss and Haymitch.
Well, Peeta's family did die in the bombings...and they could've gotten Mrs. Everdeen & Prim if they'd destroyed Katniss' house as well, but those two were among the people Gale got out.
"" Thanks For Making Me Google: Do Cats Eat Dead Bodies "" ?

SPOT....ON !!!
They brainwashed Peeta to kill her because President Snow is all about showmanship. He didn't just want Katniss dead, he wanted to destroy both her and Peeta as symbols of the revolution. The two of them together were a symbol of hope, so wanted to twist that symbol into one of tragedy and despair.
Also she's more likely to make herself vulnerable around him than any of the other captives, so honestly he had the best shot of taking her out.

13:03: They mind controlled Peeta because he's the one who's closest to Katniss (and therefore she trusts him) and thus more likely to be successful in killing her. It'd be no more different than brainwashing *your* best friend, rather than just an acquaintance.
#6 president snow already knew about district 13. After firing neuclear weapon after nuclear weapon at each other, district 13 and the capitol decided to make a piece where district 13 can make there own civilization free of the capitol as long as it's kept secret from everyone else
C'mon man, they clearly state why District 13 is so deep, why the Capitol largely ignores them, and why they don't ever attack them with full force in the movie. These aren't any fun if you blatantly ignore sections of the movie.
True being they ignore and don't really attack D13 cause they are afraid of being Nuked

The necklace of rope makes perfect sense because its about a lynching. The song goes "are you, are you, coming to the tree? Where they strung up a man, they say who murdered three". The changing it to hope is a clever metaphor to show that even the rebellion will change things for their agenda
Thanks for making me google "Do cats eat dead bodies?".

@Donald Piniach yep
Wait what do you not get about "necklace of rope" in the hanging tree? It's a noose bro, and they're talking about a hanging tree. Unwarranted sin is unwarranted (*ding).
Sin him for missing painfully obvious symbolism, he's sinned movies for having characters miss more obscure symbolism than necklace of rope=noose.
+Taha Shujaat I think he was talking about the subbed line. Which was something about hope.
+spartanspawn007 He says, after the line about it originally being "necklace of rope"; "Which also doesn't exist or make sense it a song about hanging."
It was a misedit, I think. Necklaces of hope don't exist, and don't make sense in the context of hanging. So the sin's still valid, it's just that CinemaSins also has to ding themselves for messing up the cut.
mikerw the “necklace of hope” portion actually does make sense though. It’s kinda shorthand for “while we seem to be at the brink of death we carry on with hope of not only survival but success. That’s actually explained by the people who made the edit. Granted without the context given in the book, it isn’t as explicit, but still, it does fit
1: it's a exercise she does when her thoughts are scrambled
3: why is that a sin
I think it was a symbolic thing to leave the victor houses standing in 12. It left it more impactful on Katniss that she may have survived but at the cost of literally everyone else.
No sin for the overlong "Preident Snow, this is Katniss. Can you hear me?" moment?
You dropped the ball on that one! lol
or the fact that the cat looks entirely different from the one in the first movie?
In the book, Katniss actually remarks that she hopes Buttercup was just eating mice because she doesn't want to think about him eating corpses.
(that wasn't trying to explain away the sin! Just explaining a potentially interesting bit of information. I know the books do not matter.)
Mice would be my first assumtion, besides cats cover a lot of territory and the wood and maddows were not bombed.
He's shaking

Katniss stuffing a feral cat into her bag like its a salami sandwich is the stupidest thing. My cat will barely be picked up, let alone just nap in a satchel because why not.
In the movie, Katniss shoots an explosive arrow that was in her quiver, at the warship, thus (in theory) reducing the total number of arrows she had from 12 to 11, but in the next shot she is seen with a full quiver, complete with four explosive arrows. *ding*

You missed some key sins:
1. A few hours ago Peta was fine and even warned the rebels of an incoming attack. When rescued, he lost his mind and became a mental killer? So, did they mess with his mind before or after the interview?
2. The movie thinks its all about Kat, and ppl think they fight for her. But in reality, she is just a propaganda piece. Given how organized they were, the rebellion was around long before Kat was large enough to use the potty by herself. No, they fight for justice and basic human rights. It's like having Germans fight for Rommel in WWII...
3. Why did the president mention that he was aware of the rescue op if he was not going to utilize that knowledge? If he was planning to let them go, he should have played dumb and let them think they got away. Instead, he played his strong hand but did not claim the prize. I would argue that capturing the rescue team, which included rebellion commander, was much more valuable than letting brainwashed Peta "escape" so that he might, just might, kill Kat.

That "iiits alright, its ookeee " at the end of the video 😂😂 I was surprised to find out how much I enjoyed all parts and the serious tone and all, but that thing nails it man 🤣maybe thats why
I was waiting for you to say "stormtrooper aim" with the peacekeepers because that's EXACTLY what I thought when I saw that scene.
I feel like this series would have been a lot better if Peeta and Katniss weren't the main characters.
Yeah, #enobariahungergames
+Duke Monarch XVIII. of Ekliisia Johanna and Finnick would be cool too
Peeta is a lot more endearing in the books.
+Shuri Wakanda I agree that he has more room to be explored in the books, and I think people are too quick to jump to the 'he's weak' trope, even in the case of the movies. The brave things he does and endures are always ignored just because Katniss had to save him in the first book/movie. Even then it was because he got injured saving her in the first place. Peeta is definitely more complex a character than he is given credit for.
Yep. I agree with that. I hate the way that they made Gale act in this movie because in the book he was great but here he is acting like a jealous idiot.
Peeta + Katniss = Peenis.
This is how I will ruin the hunger games for every fangirl everywhere.
+Magnus DarkSlayer (xXMagnusXx) The fans already know. They've made posters saying "Peenis" on it and had the cast sign them.
Dammit.
+Magnus DarkSlayer (xXMagnusXx) Yeah well Gale + Katniss = Ganiss (Gay-niss)
+Magnus DarkSlayer (xXMagnusXx) hahahahhahahahahah
That actually made my day
+Magnus DarkSlayer (xXMagnusXx) You cant even spell penis.
12:36 they thought the victors were traitors before Peeta gave them the warning of the impending attack. Now they think of Peeta as a hero.
He’d probably know that if he were actually paying attention to the movie
Wait wait wait this guy's got a wife
*Does he have a sin counter for her*?
so much fuckin explosions and suicidal attacks in this movie. I walked out of the theater thinking they should rename this to Hunger Games: Allah Akbar Edition
Bahaahahahah
Nah you haven't seen a Michael Bay movie yet xD that's what you should name those
+Banks Porker The hunger games; as directed by Michael Bay's wet dream.
*Allahu Akbar
+Banks Porker More like Michael Bay edition.
This movie would have like a 90% on RT if they would've made it one part
Rt means?
rotten tomatoes jewfukaninja
+jewfukaninja Rooster Teeth
+jewfukaninja
the Really Terrible-scale
And they would have probably made less money still.
I tell you why Peeta is really important. Because if you read the book, he's more than just a baker and painter who's only busy painting himself to look like a tree (this joke is actually pretty funny, tho. I'm not gonna lie, lol). He's super clever, smart, kind, and the most important thing that he has for the rebellion is that his way with words are so good. And he's actually pretty strong too. He's also played an important role to keep katniss alive, both in their first game and the second game. Without him, it would be twice hard for katniss. Well yeah, i mean, katniss needs him as much as he needs her to keep them both alive.
But yeah, then again, it's a cinemasins. It's about the movie. I do aware that the movie didn't do the justice to his character. You can see and think of him as a weakling if you only watched the movie. You have to read the book to see the real character of him. He's the character that i look up to and he still is one of my favorite fictional character now after all this year.
The books don't matter, so no point in bringing them up.
"Are any Girl Scouts bothered that this movie jacked their solute?" Yes, yes we are
Really? You didn't realize that "necklace of rope" fits into the song about a HANGING TREE?!?!?
+April Jones Finally someone gets it....
April Jones I KNOW RIGHT!
he was talking about a necklace of hope doesnt exist and doesnt make sense you fucking morons
Hope + hanging. They don't really go together, do they?
The peacekeepers are storm troopers
N. Woolly
More like power rangers!
N. Woolly
More like power rangers!
El Robino but there are only like 5 power rangers and they don't have machine guns
Stinky Ron
Cloning!
That can shoot people
"Are there any girl scouts out there that are bothered that this movie jacked their salute" I can answer that.
Yes. Extremely so.
9:57
The hanging tree part-
Neclase of rope- meant someone hung themselfs- With rope around there neck- That's why it's called the hanging tree- not a letteral tree that's hanging, but a tree where on people hang themself
Everything Wrong with Wreck-It Ralph pleSeses
yah boi
+TheDrunkRobot I think they already did that.
Holy shit they would wreck that
+TheDrunkRobot I think they already did it but it got taken down for copyright
Cameron Clark98 Yeah they do have adventures in audio though.
let me guess. they gonna wait till May the 4th for Star Wars 7...
Probably
Or till right before Rogue one or VIII
It would be fitting wouldn't it
+jdtreker sure I just don't wanna wait that long
It comes out in December of next year, so sadly no
Finnick should write dashboard confessional lyrics 😂😂
Peacekeepers are basically storm troopers in hunger games
I wish peeta would have killed katniss so we wouldn't have had to suffer through another garbage movie.
savage
Lol don't watch the movie if it makes you suffer so much?
+Neci Onatah agreed.
You didn't have to suffer?? You didn't have to watch the movie lmao
+blanketcandy i really wish that happened
although part 2 was awesome
"Also thanks for making me Google do cats eat dead bodies?" got me good :P
the necklace of rope refers to a noose which is why it was changed to necklace of "hope." it makes sense to be in a song about a hanging tree because the whole song is about a man who told a woman he loves to escape before she was also accused and punished for a crime he didn't do. it's literally a song about a man getting hanged, so yeah, it makes sense.
At the end they should have shown the bit when Peeta attacks Katniss with the bit from Terminator 3 when Arnold says that he killed John Connor after John trusted him because of his childhood memories
