Yoshi-P is a treasure. After gamescom (where you already could talk with him if you found him in one of his many smoking breaks) there was an FF14 fanevent in a club. He just left because the DJ played music too loud and he couldnt do what he was most interested in: Talking with the players.

This video really uplifted me today. Yoshi-P has been scammed in game like us. He's been misunderstood or mistaken for something in game like us. He's struggled with balancing life needs and obsessions like us. He has stage fright like many of us. He has other rational and irrational fears like us. As long as a leader remembers the roots of his journey and the people beneath him still in those stages, he will keep his heart and ward off the corruption of power and money.

honestly, his background in MMOs (and the arguably unhealthy lengths he would go to play them) speaks so much to his overall philosophy with FFXIV. He's seen about as much as one person could reasonably be expected to see within the genre, from more or less the beginning. Years of experiences, positive and negative, have influenced every decision he's made with the game.

Can confirm ever since losing my sister I am ready to cry at a lottttt of things; movies and tv shows, news, UA-cam videos, comments. I recently cried when I read a UA-cam comment from a guy who was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness and is recovering emotionally from the passing of his pet wolf, wishing I could help heal his sorrow, not that there’s much a random stranger like me can do but I still felt in my heart that I desperately wanted to help. My favorite Yoshi-P story is from an interview he did. When talking about why they were working to gender unlock a bunch of outfits Yoshi talked about acceptance and wanting players to be able to make their characters representations of them. He told a story of how he was on his way to work one day, and he saw a non conforming high school student wearing a female uniform. He noticed a mother and child and how the mother reacted, shielding their child from seeing the high schooler whom she deemed wrong. And how that made him upset, that the woman got so offended over someone just expressing themselves the way they wished.

My 10+ years of reading LN and some Tek talk got me to understand expressing yourself is hard, but once you are wealthy and powerful enough, whatever you wear will have others people to copy you.
That's why one of the Tek Talk mention about "Follow Fashion" and said that if you follow trending fashion, you will always be behind since the people who created the trend will always be ahead with a big group following them and most people are way way in the back.

The "P" of Yoshi-P stands for "Producer" as in he is the main producer or rather director of a project. It is a common addition in Japanese entertainment to add next to their name to show that they are the producer of a piece of entertainment, be it a manager of and idol, or producer of songs (especially ones the make Vocaloid songs), as well as other things.

Around the time when Fortnite destroyed their map and started the new chapter thing, Yoshi P did an interview where he was asked about it, due to the parallels between that and ARR. He said he knew all about it, because his kid(s?) play Fortnite, and he tried relating to them by talking about how he did a similar thing at work, but got the usual kid groans about talking about work or some such.

I really appreciate this video. I remember feeling a bit disappointed while watching a lot of the media tour interviews because Yoshi-P always started them with "feel free to ask about anything, whether ffxiv, games in general, or personal stuff," but of course most of the conversations revolved around xiv. I wanted to know more about endwalker too, but it'd have been nice if someone just asked something like, have you read any good books recently? Or what do you think about the way certain concepts have developed since appearing in things like Ghost in the Shell and the Matrix? I think this video has that kind of chill energy, and I'd love to see more like it!

@@magnumbeef Yeah, and we know there's a lot they can't tell us about the things they have planned anyway, so I imagine it's probably tiring to have to do the vague dance of 'well this is the concept, but it's still subject to change' in every interview. Yoshi-P is clearly inspired by and thinks about so many different things, so I think it would be cool to see him get a chance to just talk freely without having to measure his words to make sure he doesn't let anything slip that they aren't yet ready to share.

YoshiP is definitely something special. He's held on to his heart as a gamer, and continues to work hard to fulfill the promises he makes to his players. He also takes a very unique long-term view of and direct hand in, not just the development of the games he works on, but to their marketing as well. He refuses to bend to corporate meddling when it's something that really matters, like burning the original 1.0 version of the game or suspending sales due to server overload and no short-term fix available. On top of that, he has a way of accepting all blame when things go wrong without making excuses, while ensuring that the teams or team members who create content that the players particularly love are given appropriate recognition for their hard work.
Yes, he's human with human faults and failings, but the community loves him because of everything he has done and continues to do, not because he's perfect.

Yoshida Naoki is the real deal and an exceedingly rare person in the gaming industry. Anyone that doesn't know him and thinks he would sell out his fellow players should watch this. Square Enix may be the company he works for and the name is occasionally synonymous with poor decision making, but as long as Creative Business Unit III is headed by the man known as Yoshi-P, he will always be looking out for us to the best of his ability.

Also, I know it’ll take more work, but Yoshi-P himself said to Zepla and Annie and I think some others, that the team and the Japanese FFXIV community love how many content creators are making stuff for the game recently and he recommended so it’s easier for them to enjoy and understand, to at the very least put in autogenerated Japanese subtitles.
He’d love your content for sure and I know he understands some English, but just for the future :)

Hearing about Daoc just brought nostalgia to me. I count myself blessed to have played during the golden years from the base game and shrouded isles, only left near the end of catacombs. I remember getting up at 4 am just to get back online as a kid, hoping my parents wouldn't catch me up so early. The pvp (rvr in that game) was fantastic, but sadly no king rules forever. Yoshi-P, as a person who also played daoc, I salute you!

Dude absolutely loves video games and is very passionate about game he loves and socializing with the players. I remember meeting and having a conversation with him a couple years ago, initially we couldn’t converse because of language barrier then he called over his staff member to translate our conversation. Dude was so engaged and passionated in our conversation that me and my friend felt like the language barrier wasn’t even a problem. When we had to leave, he thanked us in Japanese and English, I absolutely love this man to this day

I finished endwalker and listened to the radio mog station and ofc it is Japanese custom to apologize a lot but he was so stressed he had to apologize so much that he stopped lookig atany social media at all. And since people try not to spoil so the praise is more difficult to reach him and all the denouncements reach him more loud and clear. Well be nice to him and praise him more. My eyesight was very bad, I couldn’t see 10 inches away from my face. I talked through my fears if Lasik with my doctor and chose a doctor that wasn’t the cheapest by any means, but had done tens of thousands of lasik surgeries and also does way more complicated things like cornea transplants for people with eye injuries (did you know contacts can cause all kinds of problems?). I took the advice to heart that you should choose a doctor for whom Lasik is the simplest thing he/she does. I’m extremely happy with my results now over 1 year later and amazed that I can just wake up and see after wearing glasses for as long as I can remember. All my friends with glasses got it done as well, and all of them highly recommends it.
