What i love about bird box is that since we aren't shown the monsters fans can come up with what they think the monsters are and it doesn't matter because the mosters are up to the fans own head Canon

I figured it’s a glitch that works out for the monsters. Since they’re the crazy ones who are already insane, the monsters don’t have a full effect on them. The partial effect makes them keep certain parts of their brain that allow them to manipulate and survive, yet it’s still enough to worship the monsters.

I believe the monsters attack the people's phobias and they get trapped into it, like in an infinite loop, so they can't handle it and then kill themseves

if you know anything about Chtulhu, which clearly you don't, he is a benevolent Ancient One living in the Oceans. Only gets out when a madman summons him. And basically to kill who summons him.

@@rederickfroders1978 check out the movie underwater…. Cthulhu is in that movie and you only see glimpses and it is mostly kept in the dark. They could’ve shown glimpses and not full images of the creatures

Looking for clips of this movie, but working on a video about protecting the eyes. One of the things I'm highlighting is Tao philosophy of the belief that the eyes contain "light" or energy that is drained when we look out towards things.
There's a story that Confucius blocked the eyes of his student when he got mesmerized by a white horse in the distance. It was to protect him from forgetting his own inward self awareness that's quickly lost when the eyes are drawn outward towards externals.
You mentioned the monster could have knowledge they shouldn't have. I believe that knowledge is the ability to draw out what the Tao philosophers would call "sense" (having sense) or "Yang" energy that grounds one's mental or self awareness. By exhausting it the human mind can't stablize causing it to fall into madness. To a senseful mind this leads to instantaneously wanting to die. To a mind that has already lost its sense and stability or Yang. They're already fully "yin" mentally lost in oblivion; ungrounded. So, they're not affected by this drawing out of the mind/soul by force.
You can look up this Tao info from "Secret of the Golden Flower".

You need to read the books this movie is based on. They prove and disprove some of these theories. SPOILER ALERT!!! The little girl is immune to the madness. When Olympia saw one of the creatures, she managed to show her child one of them. Because of that, she’s the only known being who can look at the creatures without going mad.
