It's a 'war of attrition' for Nio and other Chinese EV makers, says advisory firm

- Bill Russo, founder and CEO of Automobility Limited, discusses Nio's fourth-quarter earnings, the electric vehicle price war and weak demand, saying "you're going to need to burn for a while before you can earn."
Battery swap preserves battery life. NIO spends a lot on innovation and their cars are more advanced than Tesla.
NIO has built one of the largest EV charging infrastructure in China. With both high speed charging & battery swap, Baas, NIO house, valued cell phones, power company, franchise swap station, premium services, long range batteries, zero battery degradation with swappable batteries. Yes NIO needs 2 do better with marketing, but with to sub brands launches this year and China economy projected to grow by 5% this year. Stock @ 5& change looks like a stock that can make a run...
Anyone saying battery swapping is a stupid idea is an idiot! Does your phone battery last forever? Does your phone retains his charge the same over time? The same applies to EV car batteries GET IT!
NIO is a snowball about to roll down a mountain and absorb everything in its path on the way down. Companies they partnered with will be building battery swap stations for them this year.
I'm not a fan of battery swapping. Doesn't feel good like going to the mechanic to get a part replace. It's the psychology of it. I rather plug and charge. Imagine if charging improves so much that it only take 2 minutes to charge to full. Then battery swapping would make no sense.
@@walden6272 charge to full in 2 minutes is physically impossible
@@walden6272charge full in 2 minutes battery degradation plus not owing the battery is a plus , that way you always getting new technology batteries
Battery swap does make sense because no power grid can handle millions of batteries being supercharged at one time.
@@walden6272 Nio can do both. Don't worry It just give you more options.I rather buy Nio sup brand that can swap .
Unstoppable- with a trajectory of insane profitability.
NIO power already at break even.
Every car we add -= cha Ching
NIO Power - a break even entity of NIO.
“ show me the money “
It’s all CASH from here.
Sell cars -collect $
Other brands charge- collect $
Swap - collect $
NIO users charge - collect $
Nio can do both. Don't worry It just give you more options.I rather buy Nio sup brand that can swap .
chinese EV market is very competitive with so many brands, sooner or later some brands will be bankrupt or bought by others, it's natural.
The top dog is BYD, Zeekr, Nio and Maybe Xpeng or Avatr 😂 Chinese EV market is brutal
There are currently around 90 brands. Its nuts.@@boiscooka232
battery swap maintain battery safety degradation and also your car still have good value after the end of warranty if your car still have good condition
Sub Brand is coming. I am sure the narrative will change with profitability.Q1 of 2025. We have a full line up of models,
This guy is a ball of excitement
I prefer getting information from people who speak like this. Means they're probably not trying to sell you on something.
😂😂😂
Battery swap is outdated with new high speed charging.
Still useful for a percentage of applications. Re-sale, long trips, upgrading to better batteries, cross platform, etc.
High speed gets you to 0-80 quickly but to get to 100 takes alot longer and battery swap new gen can swap in 3-5 mins can a fast charger do that and get a full battery?
@@sennahaon top of that, the charging experience for the mass market is very inconsistent and not scaled up enough. There’s plenty of room for battery swap with apartment residents, companies with fleets, and cities looking to manage their power grid.
Yeah does your phone battery last forever? Same concept with EV car batteries, get it?
Swapable batteries are more valuable for recycling or second-life applications whereas cell-to-structure fixed batteries are a nightmare for recycling purposes. Guess what happens to such a car when its battery fails.
Battery Swap is not the right way to go about EV cars. It is just a stop gap measure when battery charging is slow. Fast charging batteries will make battery swapping irrelevant. It is inevitable so unless NIO can come up with something else that can match with the rest of the EV car makers, it will be in the dust bin of yesterday. People will talk about it for many years for a great idea and a great technology. But it will be the dust bin nonetheless.
You're not thinking broadly enough, it's not just about charging speeds. A car that can swap/upgrade a battery naturally holds more value for business's and consumers. Nio is right to capitalize on the long-term deficiencies in the market.
With battery swapping tech..you can plan your route then reserve your battery and schedule your battery swap then go along your merry way..😊
@@RB-km8ze So each charging station will have battery swapping operations? It is already difficult to have simple charging stations set up across the market space. You want more complicated processes? And more costs to make it possible? I doubt it. It is REALLY NOT IMPORTANT to make swapping automated. Just need to design the EV car better so it is more efficient to change the battery in car shop, NOT NEEDED IN CHARGING STATION.
@@RB-km8ze Further, it is easy to set up a small number of battery swapping stations to demonstrate this great feature. But when you set it up for half a million stations, assuming you make it happen, then each swapped battery will be charged and be used by another car. And before they can be used, they will need to be examined for liability. Imagine half a million stations swapping batteries! All kind of short cuts will be done by station owners. And all sort of regulation and policies need to be in place to ensure legal practice. All the time. All the swapping! Think through it.
@@jimkuan8493 You haven't researched the business enough. It's painfully obvious. Nio has their own charging network that Ford customers use and also a battery swap network that Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, and others now have access to for their future cars. Nio has also partnered with the Second largest gas station network in the world to offset costs. Not to mention Partnetships with BP, Shell, IKEA, and more. All batteries are actively monitored through software and the station will not let you leave with a bad battery when detected.
