- This is not my normal Lake District fly fishing video.
My visit to go fly fishing in Sweden resulted from seeing the wonderful UA-cam videos produced by Krister Wulff in his “Carpe Diem” fly fishing channel. Thank you Krister, you are truly an inspiration.
Krister is a master of the cinematic and musical art and if you haven’t seen his “Trout Heaven” and “Lapland Dreams” videos you have missed out. Please check them out now, they are far better than anything I can produce, and I watch them time after time.

This visit to the Ätran came about as a direct result of watching Krister’s “Trout Heaven” videos. I was there the first week in June and I think I missed the main hatch by about 3 weeks. I will go in early May if I go again.
Project Ätran manage the main trout locations and only allow 5 anglers a day on the river. Tickets are released around Easter each year and sell out fast.

Getting to Sweden was easy with a Ryanair flight direct to Gothenburg from Manchester.
The local anglers were very friendly and helpful. For shops I’d recommend:

- Wolmars Fish Hunt Fritid (Much much better than it sounds and well worth a visit just to see the gear and flies) wollmars.com/
Staff in both are friendly and helpful and full of local advice. Also, they all speak English superbly. (I’m ashamed that my Duolingo Swedish was rubbish)

Detta besök på Ätran kom till som ett direkt resultat av att ha sett Kristers "Trout Heaven"-videor. Jag var där första veckan i juni och jag tror att jag missade huvudluckan med cirka 3 veckor. Jag kommer att gå i början av maj om jag går igen.
Projekt Ätran hanterar de främsta öringplatserna och tillåter endast 5 sportfiskare per dag på älven. Biljetterna släpps runt påsk varje år och säljs snabbt slut.

I have also enjoyed all the Carpe Diem films, and remember Trout Heaven well. I can totally understand wanting to go and see it for yourself.

Thanks. I would love to visit again in the future. It’s a beautiful area and I enjoyed the fishing and meeting the local anglers. Hope to go to north Sweden as well in the future.
@@thecumbriaflyfisher7704 yeah i hope you return i really enjoyed this film ! ive been to the uk a few times but i never fished there :/ you have great carp fishing over there from what ive seen and bream, tench etc
I had some amazing streamer fishing there in June. Loads of trouts with a few +50cm.
I should have tried streamers too. I met some locals who landed a few with streamers.
