Hi Phyllis, Gelli Printing on the MPC is a lot of fun. It takes paint, stamps and stencils very well. Also love that it doesn't fray. Thanks for watching. Julia
So glad I came across this even though it’s three years old, it was brand new to me. I’ve been looking at all of your painting videos and sewing videos and I am so inspired by you thank you so much for posting all that you do. You are such a talent! Just beautiful! 🤗
Yes I did! I haven't used it yet, but I LOVE the feel of it, so so unique (and kind of hard to describe) but it's like a soft canvas. Can't wait to try it out.
I recently ordered some of this MPC fabric from Dick Blick. I received light weight canvas with a light coating of gesso on one side It's not exactly what you described, but will work just fine. Having the gesso on one side give something for the paint to grab on to, so will be fun to work with.
OMG 😮 Julia I really love 💕 those, you’ve been so busy with that lot.....everyone is so awesome and fantastic and beautiful and stunning. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ xx Maggie
🌟 🌟 My oh My Julia! 🌟 🌟 These are some of my favorite things you have made. Absolutely gorgeous. 🌸 So whimsical and fun. Anybody would smile when they saw these. 😍😍😍 Perfect gifts!!! Hard to pick a favorite seems everyone you showed was my favorite. 💚💙💜💖🧡💛 🎨🖌🌼🌺🌸💝💝
Hi Pam, Yes, this was a fun project! I sold them on Etsy and were popular around Christmas time. A great gift for an artist or anyone who like to journal. Have a great day! Julia
Aloha Julia, we have so much in common! I too am left-handed (write, eat); cut, bowl, throw with my right; have worked in a fabric store; love sewing & paper crafting supplies. Looked for the multi purpose cloth and Dick Blick was out in the size I would have been interested in. Checked Roc-Lon website and a description was 100% blackout & I remembered selling blackout fabric at WalMart years ago and found a folded piece that I had. Guess what I am going to do? Enjoyed your videos and will play, play, play. Not proficient in free-motion sewing but may try. Retired grandma.
Hi! Oh my gosh do we ever have a lot in common! I too use to work in a fabric store (years ago) and I remember the blackout fabric sold by Roc-Lon. Now it's crossed over to the the art world and the price has more than doubled! LOL! At least it's still 54" wide which helps! You are going to love experimenting with it. I love how it takes paint and the best part is that it doesn't fray. I love it for pencil and art bags. The structure is perfect- no stabilizer or lining! Free-motion takes a little practice but once you get the hang of it-it's easy. Happy stitching and thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Julia
Can't find the MPC fabric anywhere. Love your work! You are so inspiring! Practiced free motion with black thread and I think with a little more practice I;; have it down!
I can’t find the MPC anywhere either - ugh. I hope it hasn’t been discontinued. Free- motion stitching is so much fun and addicting! If I find the MPC again I will announce it on a UA-cam video.
I just purchased the real brush pens by Arteza and waiting for their arrival. I do not plan on using on paper but rather on fabric and I'm hoping that they will heat set with iron ... fingers crossed. I make fabric postcards and enjoy painting on the fabric. Have you tried it?
Hi, I have not ever used the Arteza pens but am interested in knowing how they work on fabric. I recently heard about the fabric postcards and think it's such so a cool idea. Sometimes a large project is so overwhelming, but a postcard makes it less scary LOL.
I have not used them on fabric yet. I do use gelli print fabrics on my fabric PCs, as well as rust- dyed, sun dyed fabrics, Tyvek and so much more. I've been making them for about 10 yrs and made and received well over 600 in that time, I quit counting. Yes, I like working with a 4x6 'canvas' to create fabric artwork.
Hi, this is 5 years after you posted this cool video, and the links to how you gelli printed are not showing up on my screen. Can you please post the link? Thank you.
Hi, just found you. Love what you do. Question, when using die cuts, stamps etc from other people, is it ok to sell it as your work? I've always been nervous to do this as I'm not sure of the legalities
Hi, I'm not 100% sure but my understanding is you can use stencils, stamps etc on your artwork and sell that artwork. You can not however make prints or digital downloads of that artwork to sell. Thank you for watching!
Hi Rosemary, I haven't been able to get it for several weeks. Both Amazon and Dick Blick's (my 2 sources) say they are out of stock. I am hoping it comes back in and is NOT discontinued. Julia
Rosemary Bryson , I’m not familiar with Kraft Tex. Do you live in the US? I have some scraps left and can send a piece. You can email me at stitchesbyjulia@yahoo.com with your address.
Love, love, love these. What a perfect gift. The receiver will always honor the time spent spent to make them.

it is fabulous! well done! I want to try. But I have a question: what paint did you use for the background?
Hi, I am using acrylic craft paints. Most I find at Micheals or Walmart. Thanks for watching! Julia

Julia- I watch your videos often-you are very creative and inspiring.
Do you have an art background or training?
Hi Robin, I've taken a couple of art classes. My major was in Business and Textiles. I have been creating and sewing forever:)

Hi Julia,
Did you emboss the MPC cloth itself? Thanks love your work! ❤❤
Hi, Yes I emboss the MPC. You do have to be careful not to hold the heat too long or it will scorch.
Is this fabric like kraft text? I can’t find it avail anywhere.
Hi Rosemary, I haven't been able to get it for several weeks. Both Amazon and Dick Blick's (my 2 sources) say they are out of stock. I am hoping it comes back in and is NOT discontinued. Julia
stitchesbyjulia do you know if it anything like kraft Tex?
