A new south Welshman with so much respect from everyone in the game, essentially forced a a Queensland selection. Not only did they listen to him but such is the integrity of Tommy that he gave Queensland a legend not a donkey. He single handedly gave Queensland an icon, the broncos its greatest ever player, and me my child hood hero. That is the very equivalent of Wally Lewis in 1995 going to Gus Gould and suggesting that Andrew johns is the man, and Gus actually listening. Alfie is one of Tommy’s greatest gifts to the game and Tommy is such a champ it doesn’t even make sense to question it. The shield should be the beetson raudonikis shield. Should have their likeness on it and it should have happened in the 90s.
