    David. One of the many features I enjoy about your reviews is consistency. You are constantly “on spot.”
    I do have one question regarding this book test. Do you need to have good eyesight? As an example: I find the workings of The Revolution Book Test to be brilliant. The negative is a large one for me. The size of the print on the peek is minuscule ……. at least for me. But, I’m so thrilled about the conception that I am memorizing the relatively short list of words. For anyone who uses a memorized deck, the process is pretty easy.
    With this in mind, am I likely to have a problem with Any Word at Any Number Book Test?
    Have you reviewed the Revolution Book Test? If so, would I just perform a search on the member’s site?

      you do not need good eye sight for WORD IN A MILLION

    Hi David, fun review: thorough, thoughtful, informative and enjoyable. Mark Mason is THE BEST. I collect book tests so this will go right into my collection. Thank you for all you do! Your friend David

    Been using this for years. It's clever. Any word can be written down in any language.

    Mark Mason doesn't associate his name with junk. I love this book test.

    I'm on the edge of charging for my performances. Here's my one observation as a newcomer: think outside the box! The classics are classics for a reason, but the larger concepts just limit the imagination. The Invisible deck still holds up (I don't do it because I think there's more interesting ways). But the idea of ACAAN or Book tests just turn me off because I know there are esoteric rules to follow. The double lift is one thing, but when there's three moves in one sequence I get suspicious. And that was compounded by Joshua Jay's article on what audiences want. I only do tricks now that make people scream. It's expensive, and it fills all the pockets of your jacket, but you'll get the reactions!

      I hope I don't come across as over-cocky. I admit that I'm a million times less qualified than you to analyse this stuff. I know absolutely nothing, relatively speaking, but the card to wallet combined with extractor and infinity has enabled me to perform a miracle in about thirty seconds! I want lots of those if possible!

    My first thoughts are "impression pad" this is the method I would use to achieve the exact same effect, but I could be wrong! Really considering this one though, this looks like the best one yet. 📖

      it's probably not a good idea to expose magic methods in youtube comments, even if it is "just a guess."

      Why would it not be a good idea? Is there a magic police enforcing this ? :P

    I can tell who is demonstrating in in the first 2 words. Mark's voice is incredibly distinctive.

    That's awesome and pretty cheap for a great trick! I don't have a book test so hearing about one like this is great. Can't wait to buy this!

    Hey Dave, just watched this. I am not a huge MM fan to be honest, i know you say this can be done with any book. i wonder if it is an impression device that leaves something on the page when opening up to it when writing or what not, i dont like the video tutorials, it feels more like a trick then a full out mentalist production book test that was built from the group up like unwritten, aae or whats cooking. I have BOOKED by Steve Valentine, i wonder if it is similar to that? As that is as organic as you could get, but again with that and AAE - i dont really need more word book only tests so right now i have BOOKED, Spineless, AAE, Stop The Press, Unwritten and maybe some other little things or downloads. What do you think for something more visual that i am starting to discover like unwritten to work with Whats Cooking or something like that? Thanks for your help Dave - Andrew

      First - get Anneman’s book on Mentalism. - Some of the better ones, I've only heard about: Insight by Keith Fields, Double Vision
      by Larry Becker & Lee Earle, also look at Ash, Homicide Trilogy and Stardust from Outlaw Effects. The Dracula Book Test by Alexander Black and Troy Cherry is a favorite of some of the other commentors here. And then last - Val Andrew's Unfaked Book test. Good Luck

      Let the researching begin :) Thank you Dave i really appreciate the feedback, i'll be busy for a while looking all these around the web hah. Keep on the great reviews! Did you make one for Resurrection deck of cards? I might of already asked i forgot however i have them, handle like butter and marks are maaazing ! I do get a lot of what i call a "bend" in the deck like you would with a book. Is there any way to get that to stop happening when the deck just bends with a clicky sound if you riffle up or down/ push in or down from the deck - happens a lot after riffling / fanning / flourishing with a lot of decks?

    Love this effect. I've performed it before and it always kills. The only downside is that there is no way to get a replacement gimmick :(
    If you don't already own it, buy it! Buy it immediately, and you'll love it.

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  8 років тому

      if you know what the gimmick is called - you can find it on Amazon or ebay

      MoonyD911 t if you get a certain kid's toy, you can take it apart & do it that way.

    Nice review! Do u think u could review iclear by shin lim because I want to know if it's worth it or not to get it

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  8 років тому +3

      I like the visual nature of this effect but I personally would never ask someone to remove their phone from it's protective case. What if it accidentally falls and breaks during this process? Besides, how many iphones will this work with? This does look like one of Shin's better products - but I will stick with Omni deck (same trick and way cheaper)

    • @actualmagic2972
      @actualmagic2972 8 років тому +2

      magicorthodoxy true it can only go to the iPhone 5 and that means u would have to look for someone who has one and if it's the wrong one what else would u do. And it's $50 which is a little expensive but ur right prob not worth it.

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  8 років тому

      check out Omni deck

    for the gimmick is there a way to buy it at all separate? or make it

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  7 років тому

      I suppose... but then you'd still need the instructions. $20 is not much for a trick like this.

    Could you please do a review of Sheer Luck by Shawn Farquhar? It's a book test as well and I would love to hear your opinion. :)

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  8 років тому

      i hear it's a great prop with a great method - however you need some audience management and this isn't a book test for close up or walk-around. I've seen this performed on TV even this year - it's a great comedy routine AND a great booktest
