This display does everything I want ! I saw meters without cases and basic displays for sale ! Your price is more than reasonable for much better user experience ! I'll be buying one within the month ! THANK YOU for your work to the Ham community ! 73
Thanks, Chris. Got the display today and the video helped answer questions that the instruction page didn't include (eg. what the W and MOD scales were). You had me wondering why you were transmitting on the 20m beacon freq until you said it was in dummy mode. 73. Cheers.
The issue is control of these rigs is very limited - not much more than frequency & mode can be externally controlled safely (via CAT standard commands). Technically, you can do more but this can cause serious irreversible damage to the rig if you start writing directly to the eeprom.
@@ZL1CVD I have run my 817 early version with Ham Radio delux, I could even turn it on and off with the computer, seems the only thing I could not do was to turn up or down the volume, All through the cable, ???
@@1903A3shooter Sure, early version of HRD made allot of money for Yaesu radio technicians who had to replace allot of EEPROMS that got worn out. I am not prepared to put product into market that will cause such issues. HRD appears to not have the same issue. 73s om de chris zl1cvd
I have an LCD monitor in my car with a composite in. I'm looking at going to an FT-891 for mobile. Can this a. work with the 891 and b. be modified to output to a second screen? Cheers, Les - VK1LH

Thanks for the demo video. It would be nice to make one up that can be controlled through the display itself. Thanks again, 73

No, this only works with FT817 & FT818 & does not support a composite monitor. 73s om de chris zl1cvd
@@ZL1CVD No dramas. Thanks for the awesome project!
does it show swr?
Do you need a license for it ?
For the radio, yes it’s an amateur radio transceiver
in uk you need a loisense for the display, battery and a spork (not to be brandished in public)
