    If you take out the tool box and mount it on the frame, that would give more bed space and shift a little weight onto the tongue. Of course, in this case it would hide the glasspack.

    Its good to wear a full shield face protector when using an angle grinder because the blades are notorious for breaking off and hitting people in the face. Great video and good job on the trailer/s.

    I kind of thought you were going to leave the gas tank in the trailer. If you put a switch on the fuel pump and put a hose on the fuel line you could make a portable gas station. You wouldn't have to carry gas cans then when taking out the mud mowers.

    Hey man - move the toolbox outside the truck bed, forward onto the front bent frame rails. Then it can be a permanent store for ropes chains etc.

    Good idea man. Also could take a pulley and put on one of rear yokes with a belt connected to an alternator and battery box system so you'd have power to run a power supply or inverter when camping. Possibly a tank in frame, with water tank pump set up for extra potable water. Toolbox would be ideal for battery stowage

    Lots of folks build these Pickup Truck bed trailers - and I understand the appeal and the functionality of them. Just wondered if anyone had EVER considered doing the opposite - a trailer from the front end of a car/truck. I think this might be a cool idea for an ATV trailer or a low-dump trailer. Take the front end frame - remove cab - engine and all the "stuff" including steering column and radiator etc. Then cut the Tie rod near the middle and weld each end to the frame so both front wheels are held in a aligned straight path. Now you have a independent suspension with nothing in the middle and you can fab a trailer bed that can extend between the wheels and has a "V" or "U" shape for soil/dirt/rock hauling. Similar to the Truck Bed trailer - you keep the frame extensions - but headed toward the back wheels - to bring them together to form the tow point. Seems like with the right cross bracing, maybe beefing up the shocks or struts you could have a really slick dump bed trailer with a low center of gravity and independent suspension on each wheel. Any small foreign rear wheel drive would do for a farm utility trailer for your ATV to drag around. I'm no welder or engineer - just wondered if this idea would be worthwhile considering you could find lots of potential junkyard project vehicles for little or maybe even free.

    • @chud327
      @chud327  2 роки тому

      I like this idea and probably no one has done it before. Might be nice to leave the steering too. Locked for pulling and steerable in tight areas. I put a vw bug front end under a boat trailer once. It was cool, I could pull it on my dirt road and my son was driving in and out of the ditches. Would be good for long trailers like the guy that steers the back of the fire truck. Independent suspension would be neat too. Maybe I can try it some time in the future. Thanks for watching

    How do I make the rear axels in my truck bed trailer free spin?
    I have 3 truck bed trailers like this and I love them, they are the most versatile trailers and I don’t have to worry about dings or dents because I only let the kids use the $50 trailer. LOL
    SO, I am not a mechanic and I have a question about the rear diff.
    My largest (and best) trailer feels like I am dragging it. The tires roll and I cannot prove that there is a problem, however, it feels like there is resistance that should not be there.
    I have plenty of experience pulling trailers and this one just feels off.
    Almost like the gears are full of MUD not grease.
    The trailer is made out of an 80s chevy and still has the entire rear diff intact. All the gears and even the driveshaft yoke are intact and spin as it goes down the road.
    I would like to know if there is a way to remove all the gears from the rear diff so it can free spin, but the only rear diff I am familiar with has the axels connected with the gears.
    Hope any of this makes sense.
    If I cannot remove the gears or replace them with something, do I just need to open it up and clean and regrease it?

    • @chud327
      @chud327  2 роки тому

      I would probably start by taking all the brakes parts out of the drums, unless you are using the brakes. Other that that, you could jack it up and see how they spin with your hands. I uses you could take the ring gear out and that would just have the axles spinning. Maybe needs a new bearing or two... Last resort, you could pop the back cover off and see if you can see any issues... Good luck and thanks for watching. Let me know what you find out. Do you have any videos or pics of your fleet?

    Pretty slick make over of the truck into a trailer. I might start looking for long beds as that way you can turn it into a bigger camper. Is it just me or is the audio a little low when he is talking and then gets loud when he uses tools?

    • @chud327

      I showed that better in episode #3 on the Dodge trailer. I lay the coupler on the ground and put boards in it and measure how long my frame parts need to be.
      Then I find a flat spot on the trailer that is the same as the length I need. I try to make the trailer tongue as long as I can. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.

Wish I could get you over here to do mine. Or ide give you my ride just needs head gasket. I can't afford to fix and I got new breaks bearing the front end ball joint I did front end alignment. But it's 98 gmc it still starts just water in the oil. Guess I'm gonna part out. But here Louisiana can't make new ones but if I find one with title and tag I can use. Ide love to have one for fishing so bad. I got camper shell tool box ide love to haul that around. Alot room for tackle and rods. Can haul my gen and wheel chair can add my scooter ramp on back also. But very nice sir. Your right. That would be cool. Clean up the truck take out seats add a bed and cabnit and shelf. Put on a small trailer that would be a cool camper. You should do that I'll watch. Uea this topper got single door in the back the sides have big door that opens up and got one shelf the hole leangh of the shell so my beds 6 and half so only few in short than that. It was on Dodge I added to a 07 Ford f 150 then my 98gmc just had to add 2 by 4 to raise up some my beds little shorter. But took the tail gate off for perfect. Wish I could show pictures. Yea if you was closer ide help you out. I don't mine selling it. Cause don't no if I'll ever be able to find a truck to trade for my suv RV or van. But I go fishing I'm able to lay down get the pain down. But your white trailer man the tongue you could add wood to the top and make a small bed or add a recliner or rocker. Lol. me ide bolt a recliner some way. When I parked turn sideways and lean back. Hillbilly style. But the camper idea. Get this. 16 ft trailer. Put that either middle or front or back. But ide say middle. That way in front you could have porch or just place for table chairs and all. But the camper truck in middle. The back little porch to sit on or get pop up canapy and have shade to sit. Yes my brains difrent. But that would be so cool. I've got two cargo been wanting to fix up but no help.
