Another clue that your dog is pregnant is at around 4 weeks gestation, they will emit a clear jelly like discharge after urinating. Without testing her that had always been the most reliable confirmation without going to the vet.

You really should be more aware of the ailments and sometimes necessary and expensive surgeries that go along with BREEDING AND OWNING FRENCH BULLDOGS.

Hi James, the test may have came out negative because if you use serum, you cannot use the buffer. You only use the buffer for whole blood.
So you are saying only use the buffer if it's straight blood and not spun down? I just ordered this exact test kit and it'll be here next Thursday...I do not have a spinner thing, so I will use the buffer correct?

I say we push the akc and other kennel clubs to start breeding bulldogs back to their original state by breeding with bulldogs who have more pushed out snouts

I strongly agree. Other countries have outlawed the docking of tails and trimming of ears for this very reason. The dog is born perfect or imperfect (if it has health issues). It should not need cosmetic surgery to meet the AKC definition of perfect. You are breeding animals with tails. How is it a "flaw" to have a tail?
I get your point and I agreed. But, first, short faced breed all panting a lot. Second, at same time you see all women and men have all kind of health issues, including those have defective bodies, they are still making babies.

Dogs have neither when it comes to breeding, man has deliberately altered many breeds of dogs to meet a so called standard in the show ring, so many dogs endure a lot of distress because of inbreeding and genetic altering!

For Xrays I think your dog needs to be around 45 days in and as for ultrasounds think they can be done as early as 36 days from what my vet says.
Xray 56 days or later, ultrasound is best day 26-28

Even though I am a life long dog person, I never bred them. I am much more familiar with breeding horses. I can't imagine not doing an ultrasound to confirm pregnancy. (In horses, twins almost always end in disaster so you want to be sure you don't have that situation ASAP) and as someone who is currently in contract to buy a dog from a breeder, I was a little shocked that you would take down payment money from people when you don't even know if the dog is pregnant. There is no refund of deposit so I would have to wait months for her next heat cycle and hope she gets pregnant then? What if something happens to either of the parents during that time? How do you take people's money when you don't even know if your dog is pregnant? I guess, having bought a horse in utero, I am just sort of blown away by this.

I''m just curious because the breeder I am dealing with is absolutely beloved by her clients and seems very knowledgeable about the breed etc. so I don't have any reason to think she is not a good breeder.

@@denisemaloneypiren3937 As a breeder (of Papillons), I have heard many horror stories from other breeders about people wanting to buy puppies and backing out for the silliest of reasons at the very end.
Personally, I don't take a deposit as I feel that, if in the end, a person does not really want their puppy, I'd rather not have my baby go to their home because they feel forced due to a deposit.

Wait so the vet seen the puppies but couldn’t pick up on their heartbeats or the vet couldn’t find any sacs or embryos? Because an X-ray wouldn’t confirm heartbeats only ultrasound does heartbeats an X-ray would just confirm pups and how many there are.

You mention that the nipples swell a lot when they're pregnant starting at 3-4 weeks after mating, and that a virgin dog that's never whelped has small nipples. My purebred german shorthaired pointer got big nipples after her first heat, without being mated, her nipples have swollen more again already and is 2weeks out from her vulva swelling, 9 days out from the bleeding getting so much it drops on the floor. She tied last night, we've had the purebred German shorthaired pointer male over for a week, hoping they tied again through the night at least once more. But have you experienced your dog's getting swollen nipples just from heat cycle?

@@LoveMyPups lol my girl must be an odd ball then haha poor thing, her nipples were tiny before her first heat, then after it they got bigger looked like she had whelped and had mostly bounced back, maybe it was phantom pregnancy, she didn't really change any other behaviour. She is 2 weeks out from tieing and I will say her nipples got even bigger, but she also has, for lack of better description, small "boobies" too now which didn't happen last time lol so fingers crossed

Shadow, you can only breed a female dog when she is in heat specifically when she is in estrus stage ( averagely 9th day after proestrus stage which vulva blood discharge and swelling of vulva is seen ). The most advised age of breeding is in her 2nd heat cycle, around 1 yr old. Dogs go into heat cycle mostly every 6 months.

A lot of Frenchies breath like that, especially when it is hot outside, like James said it was. We had a simple palate surgery done on ours that help considerably with the breathing.

4000 rpm has a timer to set spin time 5 mins is plenty to spin blood

Mine is like that. 3 weeks. Morning sickness. Nipples are elongated and bulging. Its the 2nd time we tried heating her but the first time was like a phantom pregnancy or false. Grrr. I tried checking some bumps now shes 3 1/2 weeks but still cant feel anything.

My vet charges $268 for the ultrasound and $65 for the office visit charge.
You must have a very cheap vet. We just wait till the big day!
My vet charges 298 for ultrasound and 45 for office visit, then travel costs for a different vet to come do it. So a total of around 450 bucks.
