If I had a dollar for everytime he verified the original paint I’d have enough to to afford a 427 vette
There are several ways to check for original paint, and that "bump" is not the definitive method.
But it sounds like you knew that already 🙂
I forget, is the paint original?
definitely the son of 'bumper to bumper warranty"
@@stuartb9323 Always best to ask a veteran painter or body man from a body shop. In the end unless your selling it, making an insurance claim or want brownie points at a meet it doesn't matter.
Or a dollar for every time Hoovie has said Urination Bob.
After sitting for 5 years the wizard should've automatically changed all the fluids, right from the start, Everything gets a Flush.
I found that odd also
....but then there wouldn't be any content for the channel.
@@stevesnvegas9040 why would he put the car at risk like that? Makes no sense to possibly destroy his investment for one video
He did, this is rust in the new fluid, as the engine got into temp it got worst
Put a battery in it - if it spins it wins, road trip to Vegas. If it breaks, it needed a stroker kit.
The mid 60s Stingray coupe is the most beautiful rolling object ever designed.
The 58 is pretty slick also

That Vette is going to be awesome once all the little things are corrected and fixed! Can’t wait to see the next video!
its also close to a 100k car
lol that didn't age well. the vette engine has died.

“RockCrusher!” Muncie M22! Had one in my ‘32 Ford 5-window Coupe. It was behind a bored 327 small block.
Ditto same engine '55 Bel Air Wagon
That carburetor has vacuum secondaries, which means when you're sitting there revving it up a little bit the four barrel will not open ... the engine has to be under a load for the back two barrels to open, which means you would have to take it out on the road and floor it
Magic Mike has come a long way. I imagine he'll have his own shop someday. Good group of guys Wizard has there.
Wizard doesn't wanna hear that! lol
"What's that one taste like, Wizard?" ROFL
But in all seriousness, why weren't all of the fluids changed before a test drive? Just wondering because I thought that if a car sits for a while then you should change out all of that before driving it.
Probably because Hoovie wanted to a video as quick as possible :-) and if it did not run 100% that is he's thing anyway.

I love how easy this car is to fix! You're making me reminisce about my forlorn '66 Ford T-Bird (with a 390cc 4bbl). Something truly therapeutic about working on a good ole fashioned V8.
Pro tip cleaning rusty block:
Dishwasher tablet into radiator and run for a minute.
Then flush. All rust is gone and tablet will give a little anti rust treatment at same time.
just pull the water pump and thermastat let all the coolant passages be open. replace both they are due
chris replacing a water pump won't get the rust out from the bottom of the block
I never get tired of that late 80s/early 90s informercial music
Reminds me of "PM Magazine"-child of the 1980's
It sounds like a mega drive game soundtrack.
Mrs. Wizard waiting for Hoovie to toss her the keys to the Vette.
The wizard is my favorite part of these projects! Such a smart and humble man. Good work Tyler
Damned this car is beautiful.
What a looker with that bright blue. One of the most beautiful car ever made. So desirable.
Is anyone else fascinated by the fact that Hoovie always has a broken vehicle to bring to the Wizard to pick up one that's fixed? It's like some kind of weird trade-in deal... kind of like bringing dirty clothes to the dry cleaners while picking up clothes that have been cleaned... rinse and repeat!
Half of the Wizard's business is Hoovie's more or less broken cars, no matter were they direct the camera there is at least two of Hoovies cars in the picture....
Sort of, if you actually changed your clothes at the dry cleaners and left them the ones you were wearing to clean. Which I think the people at most dry cleaners would find a little bit weird. :)
I know almost NOTHING about cars, but I would have known enough to change out all the fluids after the car has been sitting for five years.
Out of all your cars...this is my favorite. Probably because my dad was a mechanic and raised me on American muscle cars. That sound is music.
I like the way you call things we hear out...also you mention that the engine is not orig and other things..honesty is integrity ...Good for you!!
Gotta love a Hoovie video that mentions “flushing” and “Urination Bob” all in the same breath. Big thumbs up here.
It’s a 425 horse (solid lifter)427?! I wasn’t concerned when you didn’t rebuild the original carb since it’s not the original engine .why does any 427 have such a small Holley600cfm (ish)? Why would the previous owner pull out the mighty (for Muncie)M22? (Which sounds so cool)
Not to mention the fact the Wizzard talking about going to take a dump!! LOL
Seems that wizard bought that big place cause he knew that he will store all those hoovie cars 😂
And charge him for it
Really? I thought he was just renting it FROM Hoovie and moonlighting his business on the side. Live and learn.
Hoovie definately pays alot of the bills around that shop.
And it still wasn't big enough so he had to get a ton of Lifts.
do you pay any royalties on that end music track? 😄
I worked in a radiator shop and we had a pressurized air over water engine cooling passages cleaner. It made lots of noise, but clear water turned black when it hammered away.
I am enjoying your channel very much. I got referred here from your appearance on the wizard. Good stuff so far. I'll have to go back to older stuff and get caught up.
I love that both you and Wizard shared your respective ends of that video call in your videos! Its like the Kansas version of the MCU.
Once you get it 100%. You should go and take the old owner for a ride. I’m sure it would mean a lot to her.
This 1000%. Especially because she sold it due to poor health

@@Dale_Higgins yeah, he's much better than I would ever be. I like Mike, I hope my comment doesn't offend.
That is one heck of a car. I had a 99 C5 hardtop in Nassau Blue, loved the color. 389whp with a few minor upgrades..
This is my favorite car you own. Hope you keep this over the mustang for your classic car fix. Its such a gem.
I got to drive a 1967 427, 4 speed in Corvette Rally Red. It was a beautiful machine and an absolute beast! I could feel every little crack in the road and it felt as if I was connected to the road, in a pure and primitive way! I'd always thought that I would prefer small block balance, but that rat motor Vette was quite mesmerizing. I drove it in 1997, but it feels like yesterday!
The container for collecting the water reminded me of one used in panning for gold. Oh wait, the Weezard is on Hoovies cars 🚙😂
he will be right back for the water pump
Well buying a new carburetor means that any tuning that was done on that previous carburetor is now gone. So to be thorough you still have to take that carburetor apart and look at all the Jets and the power valve and make sure everything matches.
Chances are the old one was just out of the box too. Vac. secondary on a solid lifter 427? The cam sounds pretty tame.
@@hotpuppy1 Yea I wonder if they are really going to find a solid lift? Maybe a OEM part?
If it is a 427 that Carburetor is too small, they need to find out what Engine it is.
It's GREAT to see how these problems arise and get solved. Terrific episode.
So far this car is one of my favorite you've purchased. Can't wait for part 2.

I'm absolutely digging the red Conquest TSI sitting next to the Vette. LOVE those cars.
Hoovie: This is good! This is really, really, really good!
Narrator: It wasn't good

Not sure why American car companies don't make cars like this anymore. If they did there wouldn't be any other car companies. That is a perfect work of art.
If they could sell a car like this and make a profit, they would. The market for 2-seat sportscars is tiny. Most car owners need a car with 4 seats and a reasonably-sized trunk. What most people actually buy are trucks and SUVs.
Gov tells the what to do.Sad.
I don't know what it's like in the USA but that car probably wouldn't pass modern European safety and emissions standards. And insurance will be expensive!

Best car buy ever!! Waiting to see what the clutch fan, and lifter adjustment does.. O yes.. And the carb swap.
Neat to see the other side of the conversation with the Wizard...
?
Hoovie in the video when it starts: “hey this thing runs pretty good”
Hoovie in the video after it’s fixed: “this thing barely ran.”
Heck, I bought a 1965 'Vette back in 1982.
First thing I did was pull the engine, replace the fuel lines (double flare on each connection) and add a Holley 650 double pumper.
Also, new radiator and brakes and new interior - even at under 20 years old, it needed all that - or, maybe not, just thought I'd do it while I had it sitting for a bit.
The down side is it was a Powerglide transmission - I've read that's a rare item these days.
It was the same color - I wish I never ran into that tree in '83!
Thank for the content! :)
best bet for the rusty block is to run soluble oil in the cooling system ...it works like coolant and it keeps hoses soft and water pump seal soft and stops the cast block rusting and brings up the boiling temp ....the same oil you mix for a lathe or cutting machine ...just 1 or 2 cap full
Easily my favorite car you've gotten your hands on. This one's a keeper 🦈

-Hoovie, 2021
Hoovie checking the anti freeze is one of the first things you do when ever you purchase a used car, ESPECIALLY if it's been sitting for years, I would look for a set of high back bucket seats for this car, check out some seats out of some newer vette's. High backs look better and they are actually safer, especially if you're ever rear ended.
Add a few electric. Fans
Why change the seats?
Totally disagree on the seats, it would be a crime to put high backs in this car
Doubtful that particular Corvette will ever get rear ended it’s more likely to rear end somebody but you are right about the seats
Hoovie gets rear ended every time he buys a car. Seats won't help.
That is beautiful. And I LOVE the gauges. I have a 96 and wish it had those gauges.
I love the C2 1963-67 Stingray Coupes. Those seats are just too short on the back. If you got hit a little in the front end, you’d get a pretty nice whip lash. That Holley doesn’t look like it belongs on a 427. That carb looks like a 600 or 650 Holley. Get at least a 750 on it.
after all that work im surprised they didnt check or replace the coolant before you took it out
Exactly. Or rebuild the carb. A Holley is one of the easiest to kit. Wizard blowing smoke saying it's cheaper to buy a new one.
Staged for content. Wizard didn't throw out that old carb.

My question is - why didn't they flush the cooling system before giving it back to hoovie? That seems like a pretty obvious oversight to me...
And he shouldn’t have started it until he cleaned out the fuel. I don’t think he mentioned his price, has he? It’s got to be worth a small fortune.
Staged for content
Hoovie likes doing everything backwards like most of us would do. At least me anyway.
@@kendallsmith1458 Taken as is, I'd be blaming the mechanic for not considering or raising it as a risk. Replace all fluid when a vehicle or anything with an engine has been sitting for a long time.
@@gorillaau including brake fluid...
Hoovie you are so lucky. That is my favourite 60s car!! I want one. Good on you. But you will need to make some more upgrades, like on the engine management, muffler and brake system. Enjoy it you lucky man. Good on you. Regards, Jim.
Not doing these things first was kinda nuts but you do need to find content for vids so i get it . but it is super sweet . favorite color forsure on those old vetts
Lol wizard made me chuckle when he said, speaking of sewage drainage I need to go to the bathroom lol
That pan was full of God knows what but, what ever it was did not come out of that engine, It's all about stage craft, makes for a funny situation. Cars in junk yards have less contaminants in the cooling systems than what ever was in THAT pan. Edit: check that, upon a second viewing that rust is real and dang near ruined a great aluminum radiator.
Love that Vette!!
I keep trying to look behind magic mike at that beautiful turbocharged conquest, come on hoovie give us a tour!!
Holy cow! The wizard did an excellent job on the Corvette. *EJ bows* I use MSD products for my Corvette too!
I’m a Mustang girl, but this is my favorite car Hoovie has! The Lambos and the SLS are definitely cool, but you just can’t beat American Muscle.
That red Starion in the background is gorgeous!

A dream car, looks clean just needs some love. Hopefully I find my self in a situation with something like this in the future.
My C3 sat for 12 years and flushing the fluids was the first thing done.
The color is great on your C2. That color was not available in 78 so I did a repaint. Everyone loves that color on a Vette.
Take a shot every time Hoovie says Nassau Blue in the vet videos. Good luck to you all!
Its nice being familiar enough with these channels to get all of the inside jokes

How we used to clean the engine put straight water in add about 3 cups of cascade dish washer fluid in run for about 1 hour then flush with clean water then drain then re add antifreeze

It was cool seeing the dash while you were driving. I had a 65 roadster bought in 71. It was beat to shit. My brother actually bought it for me and it took me about six months to pay him for it. In the mean time, he worked on the car. I owned it for 15 years and never seemed to have the money to do all it needed done. Mostly because I’m not much of a mechanic. Sold it to a friend, who just turned around and sold it for a profit. Some days I wish I still had it, but usually, not. Mine was Marina blue, I think.
HOOVIE ! You have to get a set of the Chevrolet Off-Road Pipes.
It's chambered exhaust has a really sweet note/sound.

That thing is beautiful 😍
The Wizard's statement @ 2:16 just made me excitedly smile. It felt for a second like he was talking to me and the Vette was mine. I got this sense of satisfaction and joy imagining how it was going to feel as I rowed up through the gears from 10 to 110 mph! PS; it's funny that Hoovie didn't know that the tach was fixed until a while after he'd been driving it. The first TWO things I noticed when Hoovie gave us a really cool POV shot entering the cockpit was I. The engine turned over after about 3/4 revolution (exaggeration, of course) when that mighty 427 c.i. brute fired into life then, 2. I immediately looked to the tachometer face and voila' she's-a-work. Just kind of made everything worthwhile. At least until the H2O gauge pegged @ about 260. OOPS! All in all it's still a bitchin rod and one of Hoovie's all time best car buys.
