Face ID Not Working

As a seasoned phone repair professional, I'm going to walk you through the repair process of a common issue that often plagues users of the iPhone 11-the Face ID ceasing to work due to humidity. This issue may also present itself after a screen change.

Our journey begins with removing the two screws at the bottom of the phone and carefully lifting the screen. It's important to have the right tools at hand-a torx screwdriver and a plastic pick are necessary. Once we have the device open, we start to dismantle the internal components, all of which are shielded by metal protectors.
One of the first crucial steps in any electronic device repair is to disconnect the power source-in this case, the battery connector. This helps to eliminate any possibility of causing short circuits on the motherboard. After disconnecting the battery, we proceed to detach the screen and earpiece flex cables.
The primary culprits of Face ID issues are the Face ID connectors, which are extremely sensitive to humidity and improper handling. After identifying them, we cautiously detach these two connectors.
We then shift our focus to the flex-the most vulnerable part of the Face ID system. Humidity can cause this delicate component to malfunction, and improper handling can also lead to damage.
To ensure a comprehensive assessment of the flex, we employ a special diagnostic machine-the AY A108, a user-friendly tool designed for this specific task. This machine allows us to run a diagnostic test on the Face ID to identify the faulty circuits.
After connecting the phone to a computer and entering the device code, we start the data backup process. Then, armed with the diagnostic results and a new flex procured from a supplier like AliExpress, we begin the repair.
The new flex is connected to the Face ID connector, and another test is run to ensure the repair's success. All being well, the test results on the machine and software will be identical, signifying that the Face ID is functioning correctly.
The repaired flex is then installed between the battery and the chassis-a delicate procedure as it has to be slightly bent to fit correctly. It's a good practice to have spare flexes for different iPhone models readily available, as they are often needed in such repairs.
