  • Kraftwerk in their short lived 1971 lineup with Florian Schneider, Michael Rother and Klaus Dinger. Rother and Dinger would later form Neu!.
    This recording is not from the Beat Club Sessions or in any way related to them. It was recorded in a studio in cologne (hence the song title) for the youth programme "Okidoki".

      NEU! was started after the duo (actually only Dinger) was dumped from Kraftwerk by the control freak Hutter,

    Listening to this, it really makes me wonder just how much of Kraftwerk's initial double LP credited to Ralf Hutter is in fact Ralf at all. NEU! were so ahead of their time.

      Facts cause he splattered himself as the everything man on that double LP, most likely to not give them credit

      These are Kraftwerk with Dinger and Rother, so they are practically Neu! with Florian. If you like this you'll love Neu!

    How did Florian get his flute to sound like that?

    • @JackBobsonOfficial
      @JackBobsonOfficial 2 роки тому +6

      I suspect that he has a microphone going into a mixing desk, which has a mountain of effects.

    • @videostak
      @videostak Рік тому +4

      he used an array of effects on his flute but the main two that got it to sound like that were something to lower the sound of the flute and give it a bassier sound (dont kno if this was something he himself made or a pedal) and then a wah wah pedal. you can hear the effects of the wah wah very clearly in this video which is what sorta gives ot the duck quack sound. sounds kinda similar to when miles davis used a wah wah on his trumpet too around the same time.

    • @VuotoPneumaNN
      @VuotoPneumaNN Рік тому +3

      @@videostak I don't think it's a wha pedal. He has an EMS synthesizer over there, through which you could channel external sounds or instruments via an input jack as Brian Eno famously also did in Roxy Music. You can barely see it in this clip, but it's clearly visible in other videos of performances from this era. So, I'm pretty sure it was the synth's envelope filter creating that effect.

    • @videostak
      @videostak Рік тому +1

      @@VuotoPneumaNN ah that explains it! tho i think hes also using a wah pedal over that too right? in the video of rucktoss gondoliere 2nd version around the 6:48 mark u can see him pressing down a wah wah pedal while playing. i guess its a mixture of the two that creates that distinct sound but my first thought is always wah pedal since it reminds me so much of miles davis' playing from the 70s lol

    • @VuotoPneumaNN
      @VuotoPneumaNN Рік тому +2

      @@videostak Oh yeah you're right, that's definitely a wha pedal.

    Hallo WF203,
    Ist das genaue Datum der Okidoki Aufnahme bekannt?
    Jetzt ist mir auch klar warum hier die Klamotten anders sind. Ich dachte immer alle drei Tracks wären aus dem Beatclub, 1971-05-22.
    Edit:
    Nach ein bisschen Recherche bin ich auf folgendes Datum für Okidoki gestossen:
    1971-05-15 Okidoki, ARD TV Studio, Cologne, Germany
    Das hört sich zumindest glaubhaft an.

    • @WF203
      @WF203  3 роки тому +2

      Hallo Reynardine,
      die Folge 4 der kurzlebigen WDR-Jugendsendung Okidoki mit diesem Musikbeitrag wurde am 15.05.1971 ausgestrahlt. Ich denke, die Aufnahmen haben also mindestens ein paar Tage früher stattgefunden.
      Der Titel "Köln II" suggeriert ja, dass es noch mehr Titel aus dieser Session gibt, es scheint aber nur noch die fertig geschnittene Sendung archiviert zu sein, in der nur dieser eine Song gespielt wird.
      Hoffe damit konnte ich etwas weiterhelfen :)

    • @Fuchsfein
      @Fuchsfein 3 роки тому +2

      @@WF203 Danke für die Hilfe. Ja, das ist super. Ich war mir nie sicher mit dem Datum. Ich freu mich immer wenn ich allen Aufnahmen in meiner Sammlung ein konkretes Datum zuordnen kann.
      1971 hat mich immer fasziniert, ob die Band wohl weitergemacht hätte wenn Ralf nicht doch zurückgekommen wäre? Tja, wer weiß.
      Schade dass die Originalaufnahme nicht mehr existiert.
      Ein im TV gesendeter Mitschnitt von Kraftwerk Live in Belgien 1976 ist komplett verlorengegangen, niemand hat es damals aufgezeichnet und das Original exitiert nicht mehr.
