Michael Gummelt, a former Raven Software developer claims on his LinkedIn that in 2011, Raven was working on a COD Zombies live services game until Treyarch cancelled it. He was the Lead Director on the project, and oversaw it whilst it was in development for 8 months between November 2011 and June 2012. This was the Standalone Call of Duty Zombies game that we have always wanted, but as a live service game, which is extremely ambitious to have been attempted back during the Xbox 360 and PS3 eras. Not much was known about this game until yesterday thanks to @GlitchingQueen who was fortunate enough to have an interview with Michael Gummelt and share the details with the internet!

They're just making this all up 😂😂😂 they wouldnt have made it let alone it wouldnt have been live service. They wanted to hype us up but Noone wants what they're peddling now 😂😂. Last good zombies was infinite warfare and bo4(chaos only) aether bo4 was pure garbage.
Um, so last I heard they were still developing this game (set to release 2025 maybe 2026) if they were going to release it instead of bo2 then the game cover would show ps3 not ps5
A few UA-cam channels made their attempts at a “cod zombies in real life” or a miniseries, since I grew up poor so I don’t need what’s been canceled I have the old vids and that’s all I need🧟♂️💚

To be honest I’m happy with the way things ended up. Bo2 and bo3 holds core memories for me forever and always and I’m sure others think the same. BUT zombies needed/needs a live service game like halo master chief collection. Can you imagine having all zombie maps and games together in one game, having ranks and customisation? it would be brilliant.

They left victus stuck in the aether, there's something that can be done with them if somehow they mix the chaos story with having the victus characters kill that goddess chick that killed scarlet and Diego.. and save Bruno and stanton, which could help the victus crew escape the aether.. and find themselves in the new world

They cant do a stand alone because no one would buy the regular cod game.
Which is weird right? Because will they? Maybe eventually? But it feels like no. Which is wild considering warzone is free and has helped them make revenue. So really that model shows that it works and free to play can make you so much money. So really we are closer. It's more just the fact does Activision think it'll work? Who knows. The zombies mode in its current state has old fans a bit on edge.
They would 100% buy the game over zombies
I think we all dodged a bullet. We likely wouldn’t have the series we know and love today. All those memories on zombies we have from Blops II onwards, gone. Sure we’d potentially have new ones on this game, but I’m thankful for what we were given, the fun we had, the careers that’s came from it and most of all… Richthofen’s dialogue
I would’ve tried to get Treyarch in on it. they made some crazy zombies, multiplayer, and campaign content in a years time, imagine if they were strictly focused on zombies 🤯

In a ironic way this game technically did get made through cod online since all you explained was pretty much in that game the only difference they removed the open world aspect and made some of the maps liner, which to this day I wish that game got released in the states as I only just watched videos about it, also I seen videos from bilibili of a Chinese guy fully recreating cod online and I would love to see more cod UA-camrs cover it in a hopes of the guy releasing it world wide also you could also count nexon studio zombies or counter strike zombies mods as they also have some aspects to both the canceled cod zombie game and cod online
It’s crazy to me that multiplayer is such a focus whenever I play I just play prop hunt lol the other 10,000 hours of zombies
They should make this game but add round base and mwz for mwz they should add every single zombie map into one huge map and keep updating it and of course round base zombie you can play any map they have made

These developers make changes that nobody wants to the point zombies is absolutely garbage. Removing jug and other perks we have had since the beginning was criminal then they changed it from round based to time limit wtf. They had a winning formula but decided against it, it’s like if McDonald’s decided to change the fries to beans 🤷♂️.
Ehh I’m glad that it never happened really. Hearing “live service game” makes me groan and even though zombies is nowhere near what it used to be, I’m glad how zombies turned out. Extremely grateful for all the memories and experiences I had with BO1, 2 & 3 zombies. Still go for high rounds on BO3 just about every weekend with my lil brother

Honestly, round base easter egg zombies is a formula near perfection. You can have additional zombie modes like open world as it is in mw3 as side content, but don’t shaft what made the mode goated (round base & good storyline easter eggs)
I wish that the 10 games can be in one epic saga where we play all of the Zombies Characters and also play with all of the Campaigns Characters and Multiplayer if they can do like Blackout the standolone will save the Entire Cod Zombies Franchise

Hey Bro, that was the "zombies" mode that was done for Call Of Duty Online, aka the chinese cod.

One day someone with brain cells will actually have a moment where they realize how stupid they were.. Bro I bought the new mw3 just for zombies. I have invested about $100 bucks total in mw3 zombies. Here is my point... if they would invest the money they get from all micro transactions and just fix the bugs. Also give the players a new map every season. I think it would be wise for the game developers to even add a voting system for future updates and wants from the players. Just saying if they made a new game where its just called call of duty zombies I would go buy it!!!

Im so happy that bo2 came out this sounds horrible when we mean a standalone zombies game we want that classic Nazi zombies charm where it was about story and round base fun. All the mechanics were mostly good for cod zombies I'll say bo3 was the best. But we don't want open world bs it doesn't make sense for a treyrch zombies game. But then again it was sledge hammer who has a terrible track record of zombies.
