The Ramble FX Marvel Drive has Dual “blended volume” gain controls that simulate a vintage 1959/1987x Marshall Plexi with patched inputs. The Marvel is a JFET design with 4 gain stages, all of which add to the distortion and harmonics, responding much like tubes in an amplifier. The ‘HIGH TREBLE’ and ‘NORMAL’ are in parallel and can be mixed together on the Ramble Fx Marvel Drive to give you tonal flexibility. There are No clipping diodes in the circuit of the Marvel Drive.
Dat Logical Song riff though...never heard that for years
yea, that was awesome
Maybe the first time I've heard Supertramp in a demo vid. Awesome!
Very sweet tones, very distinct well rounded note integrity during every example. One more serious pedal for battle!
A wonderful MIAB, one of the best value for money for me for the real plexi sound. Put it on a pure clean (BF-like or more flatty): it works very well. Put it on a cranked clean/light delicate crunch: it works also very well. Set it without too much gain (knobs under noon, master cranked a bit, my prefered settings): you can even boost it with a good clean boost or a good treble booster. Soon near 3 years with my v2, and still in love. Very amp like and responsive. Enought headroom and presence (thanks to the dedicated knob) to run in 9V (tried 12V and didn't really like, unless you have a dark guitar/amp/speakers). Definitely a must-have.
I love how the light is actually labeled "Indicator". That's kind of like labeling the knob "Knob".
+Stratomacaster The amp it's based on has an "indicator" light lol
Seriously mike your tone with that SG is incredible!
Gotta be the best Marshall in a box I have heard yet. gotta get one I think.
the telecaster bit sold me.
Running at 18v this pedal is an absolute monster!!!!
this surprised me, it sounds a lot like a real marshall
I have one of these and it's the best drive pedal I have ever played.
Everyone needs to go out and get one!
now
do it
If we're only hearing the box in front of a clean amp, then I kinda like this box.
Wow that sounds really good. A miab pedal that actually sounds like a real Marshall
I have 2 versions of this pedal. Truly the one pedal i had spent 20 years looking for. Ramble fx is awesome
Which version would you say is better? Cheers
@@markgreenfield772 the version in the video I remember liking better. I think it was a 3. They added a presence knob and a different foot switch to the following model. Kinda a fan of simple. I don’t use pedals now that a have a Friedman head but any version by ramble will put a smile on your face
Finally I get to watch a video of one of the marvels created by Tim [I never got his last name] from Ramble Fx. And demoed by Mile Hermans -- one of the best guitar players doing demos around! I also have the Twin Bender -- another winner from Ramble Fx -- the best fuzz I ever played, second only to Guga Fittipaldi's "Hot Chili". Thanks PGS for letting me hear Mike doing his music with this pedal. You have a winner for sale with this one!
I missed this one somehow. Dang that sounds good! Torn between this & the Wampler PD.
This. Or a rothwell hellbender. The plexi drive is too fizzy. Doesn't sound like an actual amp. It sounds like a pedal trying to emulate an amp, which is what it is, but not what you want.
MrBingping Well there ya go. Different ears. The Wampler sounded closer to a Marshall to me. The Hellbender is just way to gritty, even with the gain way down. Of course never heard any of them live only on the Tube.
Oh no way, rothwell is perfect. A/b'd with a friends super lead and it's the tone. All depends on what you're running into as well. I run mine into a fender twin reverb which is a VERY clean amp which may just be a magical combination but for me it's perfect
Totally need a RambleFX Marvel vs DMB Lexi vs Wampler Plexidrive vs Catalinbread DLS shoot out!
And Xotic SL Drive
And Lovepedal Purple Plexi, Carl Martin Plexitone and MI Effects Crunch Box
Simon HJ true true true true
Rothwell hellbender
MrBingping keep em' comin'
Interesting take on SuperTramp
yea i personally could do without the supertramp but great demo otherwise!
I'm digging this pedal.
Mike Hermans now with ProGuitarShop?? Wow! :) Good choice of demoer, PGS. Longtime fan here of Pop Into The Chemist!
Great idea - sounds great too!
Guys at PGS......great job....
I have 2 of this, one is V 2.0 and another one is V 2.1 and i did some AB test on them. I found that V 2.1 sounds a bit more modern, brighter in mid/hi range, and got a bit better when playing with band.
Anyway V 2.0 still my most favourite. it sounds more vintage and that's the right Plexi sound i've been looking for.
I want to hear this stacked with a treble booster!
Apparently you can get an SG to sound like a strat by scooping the normal voluve and cranking the hi volume.
Great imitation of this amp, wish I liked that sound more.
Can I ask which amp has been used with this pedal? Have a fender DRRI and I'm wondering how the pedal would match?
Is this the guy who did demos for Prymaxe? I seem to remember those tuned-in hands. His playing is top shelf.
bonum points for the Supertramp intro.
Yup...looks like his great style. Also his tele has a steel saddle on the E and A strings...so did the guy from the prymaxe vids, with brass on the other 4 strings. His phrasing is top notch.
Yeah, it's Mike. Aka. Popintothechemist. Most of these demos and the Prymaxe demos are on his personal channel as well.
Nice knob tweaking. Shows its range.
It certainly looks the part...
This is the real deal right here.
Must.buy.Marshall in a box.
Oh wow... another pedal that gives Classic Marshall tube-like tone
Fuck. Another pedal that I need to get...
I'm sick that none ever does a palm-muting test...hey, we metalheads are there too!
Is this OD capable of anything "brown?"
Amazing!
Nice Andy, Supertramp's Logical Song needs more appreciation from the 'rockier' guitar
Use Volt 9,12,18?
Serious question: Are there no picks lying about at Pro Guitar Shop?
That thing has a lot of headroom.
It really doesn't. It's straight out Marshall in a box.
Sounds great. Is this Mike Hermans?
What riff comes in at the 51 second mark?
Does PGS sell this? I can't find it on their site.
Not picking on Ramble but LikeMike is correct . The market is flooded with OD and distortion pedals . They all cost from $100-$300 and most all of them sound the same . If you know sound then you understand you can get away from having to buy a expensive OD/Distortion pedals and use your amp correctly and volume knobs and tone controls . Let the pedal be the last thing to decide your tone . Fingers -Guitar- Amp-then tweek it with pedals.
You can't get a "Plexi" tone out of a Fender Princeton... The pedal is as close as it can get without getting a 1959SLP
Preamp? Or.only pedal?
What do the three internal trimpots do?
+Laurent Toussaint I just read a post (elsewhere) by the builder, explaining that the trim-pots were there for him to fine-tune the balance between the gains to a perfect match-but that users _shouldn't_ be touching them. (He also said he realized that that would drive some guys crazy!)
ROCK ON
nice playing man
FIRST SONG??!?!?!? I can't remember argh!!
+xchump The Logical Song by Supertramp
+Jasper Yangchareon Ah but that's definitely not what I'm talking about though....only talking about the rhythm guitar in the beginning, not the riff.....that sound...so frigging familiar!!! Maybe I'm just thinking of some logical song cover i dont know but this is driving me nuts
Think I'll stick with my Marshall Guv'nor pedal.
Ooooh, nice pedal, assuming you're talking about the original black version made in England. I've got one of those, plus a Marvel Drive (plus other pedals, of course). The Guv'nor, even though it's an older pedal, actually sounds more JCM800 than JMP (Plexi), but can get somewhat closer to Plexi with lower gain settings. The Marvel Drive is more vintage sounding, and has a better bottom end than the Guv'nor IMHO---it just sounds bigger, but with a looser, grittier distortion. The Guv'nor is still a great pedal, though---I'll never sell it or the Marvel Drive.
great playing , but every overdrive/distortion pedal sounds the same when Mike plays it so as reviews these videos are useless
HOW DO YOU BUY THIS DAM THING AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST....I CAN'T FIND ANYONE THAT SALES IT...
Click on the link in the video description........
Ramble effects website. $160
Have both there pedals...this one is awesome but the Twin Bender will never leave my possession. I have two AWFUL demos showing the features and 9v vs 18v on this pedal.
super tramp?!
Yes. The Logical Song.

oh lord, the overly poetic description of the true bypass. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
