Stirling Studios I'm not talking specifically about this song, man. The way he developed his strumming style as a whole is unique and I believe he is a genius when it comes to rhythm guitar
It is a little annoying, it's soooo good. He's just bouncing around and effortlessly strumming and it's brilliant. These guys never really bragged about how great they were instrumentally. Just so much focus on the writing.
This was Paul's first musical masterpiece (even though it just seems like a pop song) and amazingly Paul for the first and very few times started this song purely from writing the lyrics, then constructing the melody. This video shows how The Beatles then instrumentally then made this song sound. Things to appreciate: 1 - Ringo's amazing rock solid understated drumming. 2 - Paul's fantastic walking bass line around a number of chords, that hadn't really happened on prior Beatles recordings. 3 - George's gorgeous country guitar flavoured solo on a pop song - how does that work? - just does. 4 - John's amazing triplet's rhythm guitar - breathtaking stuff (and John was always proud of this). 5 - Not really observed by many - this is an upbeat gorgeous pop song that starts on a minor chord - now how do you do that? Only The Beatles can make that happen. And you know that can't be bad.
Alot of early Beatles pop songs start on a minor chord, I would nearly describe it as part of there style. "Can't buy me love", "She loves you", "Help", "It won't be long".
Close your eyes and I'll kiss you Tomorrow I'll miss you Remember I'll always be true And then while I'm away I'll write home every day And I'll send all my loving to you I'll pretend that I'm kissing The lips I am missing And hope that my dreams will come true And then while I'm away I'll write home every day And I'll send all my loving to you All my loving I will send to you All my loving, darling I'll be true Close your eyes and I'll kiss you Tomorrow I'll miss you Remember I'll always be true And then while I'm away I'll write home every day And I'll send all my loving to you All my loving I will send to you All my loving, darling I'll be true All my loving, all my loving ooh All my loving I will send to you
What a great way to be introduced to America on Ed Sullivan. John's triplets effortlessly done. Paul's walking bass line, and who else but them could have inserted a pure Chet Atkins country lick in the middle of a song like this and made it sound like it belonged there? Fantastic they were!
Yes and it's amazing how effortlessly it all comes together. Ringo keeping perfect time behind them & adding those 2 1/8 notes on the 4 in the verse. John's rhythm guitar takes the song to another level.
Close your eyes and I'll kiss you, tomorrow I'll miss you. Remember I'll always be true. And then while I'm away, I'll write home every day, And I'll send all my loving to you. I'll pretend that I'm kissing the lips I am missing, And hope that my dreams will come true. And then while I'm away, I'll write home every day, And I'll send all my loving to you. I read when the Beatles first appeared on Ed Sullivan, it was estimated that 73 million people watched. Keep in mind this was in early 1964. I can only "imagine" how many kids watching them on Ed Sullivan ended up picking up the guitar and starting a band. My neighbor said she saw them on TV for this and said they were mesmerizing. She said they were so different and Paul was really good looking.

Love it! excellent job!!!! I know exactly how difficult it is. John, and his banjo style is amazing, including his chords. Love how you made John's part sound the same, even though he doesn't bar any chords in his unique banjo style. Great job!!!!
Fantastic job! Absolutely nailed that guitar solo, and wonderful allusion to the extended Stereo cut from "The Beatles' Greatest"! One of my favorites done justice! Thank you for sharing!

Top ... as these guys have managed to produce one hit after another, and often in a chat ... so much talent that it will be difficult to see again ...
I see you like incorporate what type of exact guitar the used in the studio for the songs. I hope one day when you get the surf blue fender strat George used for Nowhere man. When you do that song hope you can incorporate that. That would be so cool.
That same guitar is what later became known as 'Rocky' after George and Patty painted it. John had one as well. I used it on If I Needed Someone for John's part and Taxman a while back.
It's interesting how unique the instrumental styles of the Beatles still are, regarding their massive influence on pop music. Lot's of people play like hendrix or James Jameson. I'd argue that when talking about instrumental styles Ringo's sound is what I hear most in other people's music. I suppose you here the beatles mixolydian sound here and there in neo-psychedlic music, but otherwise their chord voicings, rhythm playing and paul's basslines remain fairly exclusive to the music of the Beatles.
Great job getting the bass mistake, and great job with the lead. A lot of people mess that lead up. But I think that George played it on the J160-E plugged the Vox amp. Try it some time. It just sounds more like the record.
We definitely agree it’s the j-160 through the amp. George also is playing a classical guitar on the verses and I suspect that John may even be playing the j-160 on the triplets
I'm impressed that the drummer and bassist are playing southpaw just like Ringo and Paul did. Surprised I see little comments in here about that tiny but impressive detail.
John’s strumming is so genius it annoys me how good he is
André Crema Calm down, strumming triplets is not genius
Stirling Studios I'm not talking specifically about this song, man. The way he developed his strumming style as a whole is unique and I believe he is a genius when it comes to rhythm guitar

Ringo for years was considered a typical drummer. Now his genius is greatly appreciated.
John on guitar? John who? Ridiculously underrated.
Paul's walking Bass line is seriously TASTY

pedro tavares What's Paully's mistake?
The Life of Tommi He plays a major instead of a minor I believe
I wonder if he was probably dancing with the song and got himself distracted for a second, who knows
Yes, he plays around the wrong chord at the 1:21 mark. Only does this on the recording, never repeats it live.
Ringo’s mistake going into the second verse as well; he plays the middle 8 for a second before realizing it’s another verse
That snare drum sounds absolutely fantastic.
