  • Maynooth is a university town in north County Kildare, Ireland. It is home to Maynooth University part of the National University of Ireland, a Pontifical University and Ireland's main Roman Catholic seminary, St Patrick's College. Healy and Mangan Ltd are innovative Bespoke Furniture Designers and Manufacturers. This is Part of an episode of the Irish Television Program, Room to Improve. This episode records the renovation of a beautiful old Coach House in Maynooth for a motivated couple of motivators. Healy and Mangan provided the kitchen, wardrobes and wall paneling in this unique renovation.       There are the types of architects, the Artist, the Salesman, and the Engineer. He's the salesman.
      When you're in sales you *must* provide your customer with options but you give them 2... *maybe* 3. Otherwise they get overwhelmed and want to compare everything, take forever or simply never choose... then it becomes "oh he/they/someone chose for me, I never liked it"
      So you give them 2-3 options, and make them pick.
      On a side note, he's certainly gone alone with some family's dreams, to the detail. In that case, he becomes the Engineer. He understands in that case the customer knows exactly what's required or goes on with his job and the builders. Which means half his job is done for him.
      As an engineer, despite being a perfectionist, I myself don't care what the product looks like, as long as it works. If it can look like what the customer wants? well then sure! why not! if it makes the product worse, you protect the customer from what you come to understand *they* do or don't understand.
