this is beautiful... the amount of work that goes behind what seem to be a "simple" setup
CarimboHanky how does this seem to be simple
Metallica has degraded to such a point they need all this BS flare to keep everyone's attention and off how Lars and Kirk suck shit!
Lo aparenta pero no es tan simple...Me gusta tu bandera btw!!!!..
Awe.......some work there gentlemen! True artists!
Killer work, guys! wow
Awesome stuff 🤘🏴☠️
This is great but they should show the production way more, like these guys are cool but we wanna see what theyre talkin about
Awesome !!!!
Use to work for tait towers in litiz pa. The owner is so damn cool and these folks are awesome! Wish i still worked there.
So impressive... I almost forgot how amazing and innovative Metallica is.
I have no idea about what any of the techno babble means but I certainly enjoyed this
As someone who does drone racing, I winced at the notion that the drones aren't a problem because they don't spray a lot of RF frequencies. I just about screamed, 'yeah, that's not a problem FOR YOU! But those poor drone receivers! =)'
these guys are like live show scientists
Saw them in boise. Awesome gig but it was too quiet
Holy shit! How long does everything take to pack into the trailers and then unpack?
I was at the Manchester, UK gig and one of the drones seemed to escape and fly out over the crowd.
Yes, I was there, seen that too. Moved at some speed.
Nice but boxes did block the views who sat on top rows. It happened in Raleigh.
This is some Avengers-level skill.
I honestly didn't care for the cubes. Don't get me wrong, they look awesome in the live videos that are shot and would look awesome if you were standing on the floor but for us that were up in the seats with them moving up and down they were constantly obstructing the view of the stage the entire time. What they should do is have someone sit in the highest row around the arena and set the cubes to go no lower based on the point of view, that way the stage is never obstructed.
I hated the cubes. It looks junky. Its all about the band. Quit trying to make it about EYE CANDY.. I swear..
Where is the source of the projection? Outside or inside the cube?
Mike F It‘s LED screens
0:51 The vibration doesn't have any bad effects on those electronic, computerized, motorized and optical devices?...
That would never make sense to me... Seems like a bad place. But I guess they can take it...
Michael Angelo H. The subs on the ground are only used for some special effects.
High end stage lights can take that sort of beating. Also the lights are most likely rental, you bring spares and you replace fixtures. I've also seen way older moving heads sit on top of speaker stacks for years and were okay
must be laundry day. Video tour lead is wearing a local crew shirt lol
3:03 Archive Recording.... interesting
Metallica records every show of theirs for their archives.
James: yeeeeeaah
Kirk: waaaaaaaah
Lars: He quit the fucking band
Love how they talk like we know what the fuck they are on about xD
We have the technology to follow and illuminate the talent without a human. Why aren't they using it? Is it because most people don't know and they are afraid of losing their job?
Hey Stu. Valid question. When we were mounting this tour, we looked at the systems I mentioned in the video. BlackTrax is a system I have used on other shows and I am a fan of. However, we have 3 band members carrying guitars. We did not want to add another belt pack (on top of the guitar wireless and in ear packs they already carry) let alone the wire with transponder would have been difficult and unreliable as there are many, many guitars and guitar changes in the show. So we had to go with an operator based system.
Thanks for the valid question.
Thanks for the reply. I thought they would be using video recognition instead of a radio transponder but I know nothing about the business. For example, drones and other cameras have video software that will track an object by touching the image on a screen. It will remember and track that object without using a transponder.
@@stuwest3653 particularly in terms of a visible tracker which can be trained in, the guitar or the t shirt could easily accommodate a sticker/graphic.
Ah, so they do have automated following lighting systems... I thought of that like 10 years ago as well.
We all did... the tech needed to be created.
This guy sorta looks like Phil Margera
The price of these tickets are way too high.
Like $175 US is a bit crazy. But the last time I saw them was Woodstock '99. $175 covered the whole damn weekend. One of my favorite sets from Metallica. I'd pay that for this setting. One more time. This band is firing on all cylinders after all these years.
Daniel Buchanan Considering that their Stadium tour tickets were the same price with Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat, this is way to high to see them with the only support being Jim Bruer. I payed $80 for really good seats on the Death Magnetic tour and was treated to Lemmy coming on for the encore. This tours prices are ridiculous. Novelty act prices. $75+ dollars for nosebleeds? Nope. $150+ for clib level? Nope. I can see that much for the floor and pit area, but thats it.
I paid $250US for a "vip" tickets back in 2011. It was an outdoor show, I had to stand on a hill which was murder on my legs. Halfway through, the hill gets muddy, making it even harder to stand. I also had a huge ass tree blocking my way. Openers were locals you could see at the bus station playing for change. Only special effects we got were the Metallica balls during the encore. It was awesome seeing my idols, but I did walk away feeling a bit ripped off. I blame the promoter, as this was a one off show for Metallica outside of a tour season. They were just hired goons for this show.
i never pay for any shows!
It's like only $100 for 2019 European tour + you see Ghost!
Ya gotta punt sometimes...
Seen this tour in Nashville sound kinda sucked....guy next to said he seen them in 89 and in 92 the sound blew his heart of of his chest during those concerts
Those cubes were annoying, if you have seated places (because everything else sold out) they block your visibility of the band..
Get floor tickets like a man
That’s got to be a wig
This stage design is just terrible. They really need to just go with a normal stage setup from here on out. I've seen this show live and it's one of the worst I've seen from a large band. The technical side of everything is cool, but it doesn't feel like a rock show and people go see Metallica to see a rock show.
Fantastic visuals, brought down by abysmal sound unfortunately
Fredrik Svärd go cry and listen to Megadeth.
