This movie is a seriously tear-jerker movie, full of family-themed lessons and, I can dare to say, this movie is a lot better than any family movies that you've ever seen or reacted before.
The Penguin is easily top 5 shows on tv right now. Its literally Breaking Bad meets the Sopranos but it takes place in the Batman universe in Gotham City. Its just getting better and better.
Of all the reactions, nobody realized that Calvin was the kid that Sofia shot when she was interrogating Oz. Nobody picked up why she asked Victor, if he seen him.
I figured Sofia wasn't the Hangman after episode 1, and was certain she wasn't after episode 2. The only moments of genuine shame you ever saw from Oz were in his interactions with Sofia. I believe he helped Carmine destroy her to protect the family and hide Carmine's own serial murders. We learned in the Batman that Carmine enjoyed choking women to death. We even heard him do it once to Selina's roommate in a recording. Sofia is going to be the most sympathetic psychopath we've ever seen by the end of this series.
I agree with big dude on the left. Colin Farrel definitely deserves an Emmy for this performance. Can't wait to see Victor's progression as a gangster. Oz finally has the son he always wanted, haha.
I’m pretty sure Victor will betray the Penguin before the end of the show because deep down he’s not with the life and that might just be what finally pushes the Penguin to be the ruthless villain for Batman 2

What I understood was that oz was hurt bcz viktor thought he just kept him by force/blackmail, whereas oz devolped care for vic. That's why oz said to.vic this is what he feels??
Oz may have developed that care for Vic, but the reality is what Vic said was true. Oz used Vic first episode and was definitely ready to shoot him when he told him to turn around and check out the sunset, their relationship 100% started out or necessity for Oz. Just because Oz started to develop a care for Vic so quickly doesn't change that fact. I think that's why this show is so good so far, it's got everybody rooting for Oz meanwhile forgetting he's a ruthless criminal ready to step over anyone who's inconvenient for him. Just because he feels bad about it doesn't make it right

The fact that each episode is better than the last is so far impressive to me. This episode stands out as some of the best acting of this year! Emmy's for Farrell and Milioti, they are so good in this show. Shout out to Rhenzy Feliz who also have been killing it in his own way, did not how much depth they will give to his character but this episode made me really interested to see where his character will end up in all of this (My assumption is that he might get killed off by the end of this series, I can see that happening, I hope not but if they do kill him off I hope it done in the way that works for the character and the overall Penguin arch, because he does see Vic as a son he never had, he can relate to Vic, he sees him more than just his henchman). But everybody so far in this show have been good to great, the fact that this is a Limited Series tells me that this will be ranking up fast... This entire show feels like one big movie which it really is in a way. So things are going quick but it's done so well, props to Matt Reeves and everybody who worked on this show, this is a surprise hit as many including myself did not know for sure how this show will turn out, but so far I have nothing but high praise! Also, one thing I realised pretty quickly... When Vic took Oz's car that was his way of deciding which life he wants for himself, not that he was stealing it 😂 some people for some reason thought he is either stealing it or going to dry off with Graciela or something but it's clear as day that it was his way of deciding if he wants to stay with Oz and have a life that he feels he deserves and wants or have a life that is filled with questions, worries and uncertainity.
The ironic part about Vic having a change of heart and coming back for Oz is... If he had gotten on the bus with the girlfriend, it is likely both Oz and Sofia would have been killed by the Maroni's and Vic would have been off scott-free - though he likely would not know Oz was dead and have spent the rest of his life looking over his shoulder.
I don't think Sofia knows Oz is working with the Maronis also, that he gave the ring back. Sofia thinks the Maronis killed Alberto. Now Oz got caught red handed working with Sofia and she's in the hands of the Maronis. They'll both now know Oz is playing everyone.

I remember people who hated Andor (which I loved) because “it isn’t Star Wars.”. They couldn’t see beyond the lack of the Force, lightsabers, Jedi, and Sith and see that it was a brilliant drama set in the Star Wars universe. The Penguin is another demonstration that you can have a truly excellent show without the usual (DC, superhero/supervillain) trappings.
Oz might have left because he knows he couldn't have helped Sofia in that moment. They didn't let us see exactly what was happening when Oz jumped in the car. There were immediate gunshots as they took off.
When Nadia told Oz that they've been watching him, if that has been 24/7 then they've seen him go to his Mom's house. That could end up making her a target for payback. 😟
She's already a target from the beginning, the necklace Alberto gave Oz he gave to his mom. So if Sophia knows all the jewels in the case like she said then she'll notice the mom if she wears it.
The bathroom scene is so great. I love to hear a man’s perspective on that scene. Oz is a narcissist, manipulator and gaslighter he cares for no one but himself. Even with his mother he goes to her for validation. This show is incredible the acting and writing is phenomenal.

This show was unexpectedly good. I feel like I got burnt out from all the other crap we’ve gotten over the years. Not just DC related. We all know about Book of Boba Fett and the Acolyte. Breath of fresh air.
Maybe its just me but I like that they leaned into some of the oldschool DC aesthetics, his car is 'plum' coloured and his bedroom door is like a submarine sealed door. It fits the 'new age noir' but keeps some of the old tacky flair of the DC we know.
It's time for someone/anyone to mention Batman now. Even if only a fly-away comment; or to be more subtle - show the Bat signal in the background. The Riddler has been referred to at least twice.

I think she told the truth that she wasn’t the Hangman. I’m guessing she knew what her father was doing, and he was strangling women. And he pinned it on her, and she was sent to Arkham.
People forget that her father in batman was known for strangling women in the batman movie and tried to kill Selina by strangling her. Sophia has claw marks on her like and catching her breath she's trying to remove imaginary hands from her neck in the last episode. So many reactors missed a lot of clues because of the love fest they have with the penguin

Colin Farrell is really nailing it as the Penguin. You can really enjoy the show without being a DC fan, which is where this show shines uniquely.

This movie is a seriously tear-jerker movie, full of family-themed lessons and, I can dare to say, this movie is a lot better than any family movies that you've ever seen or reacted before.
Reactors love for Oswald is clouding their takes on his relationship with Victor. He's not better off in that life. He's a teen that was made to dispose of a body at gunpoint and held at gunpoint and made to get rid of a dead body among other things because he was trying to steal rims off a car. Teens get exposed to that life in my neighborhood everyday and we definitely dont have any sympathy for the ones that exposed them to that lifestyle no matter what good advice or money they're getting

People forget that her father in batman was known for strangling women in the batman movie and tried to kill Selina by strangling her. Sophia has claw marks on her like and catching her breath she's trying to remove imaginary hands from her neck in the last episode. So many reactors missed a lot of clues because of the love fest they have with the penguin
