Joking? This is a Shanghai song of 1940 first sung by Yao Li and the English version was coined by Petula Clark around 1950. Oldies oldies.
I like musical archeology 🤣.
Also presently watching the Tale of Rose c-drama (just finished it) or Meigui de gushi in original title, featuring Crystal Liu / Liu Yifei and a succession of impressive male actors in that story of a woman's life, loves, divorce, motherhood, self-empowerment from 2000 to 2023 or so (the life of a woman from wild girl of 20 to wise lady of 40+). Very beautiful. Period details except fashion which is in fact cutting-edge. Recommended for those who like to think and not only be wowed by martial arts and ancient Chinese costumes (I like both, so my favorites these days, in c-drama/TV or web-series, are The Tale of Rose, modern ; The Double, more or less fantasy ancient ; To The Wonder, a short almost ethnological romance of the 2000s that got incredibly high ratings despite seeming "niche")
