What an honestly funny and entertaining man he was. I really looked forward to his stand-in rolls on the Tonight Show. He was destined for a greater star in Hollywood and his passing saddened me when I learned of his demise. RIP Mr. Shandling
I can’t say as I enjoyed his stand up comedy, but I do appreciate his contributions to comedy through his writing for sitcoms and the fact that he set up his estate to benefit worthy causes.
I was on business in Vegas,in the early 90's. He and I,were passing each other in the Mirage Casino,he had body guards, but,I was an artist, and,I think we know each other? He gave me,the head nod,of acknowledgement. I returned it. I don't play casino games,I was just wondering,he knew I was different, too. I had a vision, too, surviving surgery, too. I know the feeling, too,of what is waiting for good human beings.
I heard before that he left part of his estate to his lawyer and I always thought that was sad that he went through life without a close family but like all celebrities we never will know what was actually going on in his private life! Thanks for your content Steve!
I liked him in just about anything he was in. The Larry Sanders show was also good. He had that very likeable down to earth guy personality. I also loved David Brenner. He and Gary were similar in some ways. To mr anyways. Good video. 👍
@@stephenmaclean9914 I believe that is one of the “Creator Awards” given by You Tube. I think this is the one for reaching 100,000 subscribers or such. I follow a few UA-camrs and several of them have shared their various styles of awards.
I don't remember all he did that well. I didn't watch him that much. I do remember him guest hosting The Tonight Show. And it sounds like he wrote some great stuff. 👍 Thanks again, Steve 😃
My favorite Shandling performance would have to be providing the voice of Verne the turtle in "Over the Hedge." He and Verne were both likable, dependable, old fashioned, and caring, if a bit prone to being overwhelmed by circumstances.
I saw him perform many years ago in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He opened for Joan Rivers, and he was hilarious! Of course, Joan was too. I'll never forget seeing those two all those years ago. (This was in the 80's.)
Carlin was the King of Comedy. I met him and had lunch with him and other Airmen at the base I was stationed at. He called me a smart blonde. 6mos later he came out with his HBO special about oxymorons.😂😂😂
His career was him pretending he was very funny. He did the same thing David Brenner did, always start smiling right before the "punchline" so people know it's time to laugh. His shows were mostly of him looking bewildered. Not a funny guy at all. Another Joey Bishop, not funny but connected.
I also have to say I didn't care for him AT. ALL. He wasn't funny to me AT. ALL. If he was ever on a episodic show I watched, I wouldn't watch that episode. He just seemed SOOOOO inCREDibly BOR-ING. THIS was the MOST I've EVER watched ANYTHING featuring him.
He was a very clean comedian. No curse words, no sexual references.
He got a little rough in the Larry Sanders show, but he wasn't awfully vulgar. I love Gary Shandling, he was one of my very favorites.
@@jaelgeI don't remember what year, but he appeared on an episode of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
The Larry Sanders Show was great.
Larry sanders is a 5 star classic. Thanks for your accuracy
I grew up watching "Its Gary Shandling Show" (on FOX not Showtime) and I loved it. still miss him

He was always dry, funny and quirky- liked him- thanks!

I enjoyed him very much so thanks for his story.
I liked his 1st appearance on the Tonight Show! It is soo funny that l still watch it from time to time!
Congratulations on your UA-cam award 🎉🍾🎊🎈
He was an amazing comic artist! RIP Mr. Shandling!
“What Planet Are You From?” was hilarious. Definite B-side hit.
The Larry Sanders Show was pretty good. Liked Tambor and especially Rip Torn. 😓🙏🏼. 🤓😎✌🏼
I did enjoy It's Garry Shandling's Show. I also remember seeing him do his stand-up on The Tonight Show. I still see him now and then on the reruns.

I loved his first tv series. I've heard many stories about what a good person he was.
Steve, you have a very good quality channel on UA-cam. You are very respectful, and very informative. Keep up the good work, buddy.
I appreciate that!
I loved the cow joke doing stand up on the tonight show
I remember around 1983 Shandling made a crude film about two Weimaraner's driving an SUV around town. It was hilarious.
Didn't care for his comedy, but what a great donation !!!!! Well done, Gary !!!
I got to see Gary shandling at the comedy club his act was absolutely wonderful I'll never forget it to this day❤

Great eyes! One of a kind human.
Wise advice from George Carlin (who was way ahead of time). I watched his show. He was such a wise a$$ in Ironman II. RIP
Garry shandling guest starred on the NBC late night show the tonight show starring
Johnny Carson
Wow amazing thank you for sharing
I liked when he guest hosted the Tonight Show in the 80s. His monologues were always funny to me.
So funny! Great guest host, was hoping he’d get chosen in 1992.
@@good1day726Yeah I absolutely agree! I really thought he'd get picked to take over for Johnny Carson.
Truly a sad ending he was able to call 911but it was too late
HEY NOW, any Larry Sanders show with Jeffery Tambor and Rip Torn was the best.
I don't remember all he did that well. I didn't watch him that much. I do remember him guest hosting The Tonight Show. And it sounds like he wrote some great stuff. 👍 Thanks again, Steve 😃
Great guy I missed seeing him on screen!

I didn't know that he passed! WOW.
Now you know
WOW
Yes he passed away a long time ago
Yea, if I had one of those trophies, I'd polish it every day lol
🙏🙏
I didn’t know he was dead.
What a wonderful thing he did with his money.
How sad not having anyone to leave his estate to?
😢😢😢😢😢😢

I liked Larry Sanders
Ripp torn character was the definition of a yes man/ kiss ass
Ham Radio operator, like myself. A terrific human being.

Garry Shandling was Jewish.
No kidding
🙄
who?
Never got his humor
It was like always waiting for something funny to happen.
That's cuz you're gey
You know you could lighten up a bit..more on his life..less on his death.
Was not funny. Couldn't stand him.
There was something about Garry Shandling that I literally couldn't stand the sight of him. I was HAPPY he ended!
I didn’t find him very entertaining either, but I am not happy he has passed away

How awful it must be to know you, much less to be you
@@Hope0702 Actually, I'm quite FABULOUS! I just didn't like Garry Shandling. It's not like I knew him as a person and wished him dead.
@@Hope0702 Honesty isn't always pretty.
He was different, I didn't think he was funny. Sad he died without family. Congratulations on your plaque. 😊
Thank you!
