At 7:30, the breaking of the ice sculpture was a set up, it was actually supposed to go a little longer but the ice artist told him right before they started filming that he only spent about 5 minutes on it and it was so bad that if it did not get broken very quickly everyone would be able to see it was no work of art.
The station got so many calls hating on the reporter that they let everyone know it was a prank just minutes after it had happened. They had originally intended to let the story run for a full day, announcing the prank on the next days broadcast
If I was the guy who had his hard work and ice sculpture destroyed by the reporter I would have a hard time not slapping the microphone out of his hand.
If you google it, you will find out that it was staged. Roland Herndandez.

The reporter who dropped the ice statue does that as a bit. He'll go out and interview people who are breaking world records or whatever and they set it up to look like he screwed it up.
